- superboredom, on 04/02/2009, -2/+246Try it out, then buy them! http://ghosts.nin.com
- herrshuster, on 03/03/2008, -1/+167this is not ghosts I-IV, it's just I
- burstaneurysm, on 03/03/2008, -2/+157This collection is well worth $5 as well. Even if you don't like NIN, it's worth it to support Trent and his latest push in changing the recording industry as we know it.
- Chewy_95118, on 03/03/2008, -5/+121Why not just buy the album, its FIVE ***** dollars!
- revmhatt, on 03/03/2008, -4/+95I don't know if I'm disappointed because it's down or if I'm excited because it's crashing servers!!!! THANK YOU TRENT!!!
- Evolutuon, on 03/03/2008, -1/+84It felt awkward to download a torrent 'legally'.
- Omadhaun, on 03/03/2008, -1/+72Bought the Deluxe Edition, but the download link on nin.com is currently not working. This torrent is a great fix for the meantime.
- skipdog172, on 03/03/2008, -2/+70Let's see, I haven't bought any music in years....but $5? Yeah, I'll certainly contribute.
- xtc46, on 03/03/2008, -2/+49becasue 5 dollars is way too much to pay for 2 hours of music and all....
He is giving 1/3 of the album for free to sample what you are getting. if you like those 9 songs, buy the rest. - scubachef11, on 03/03/2008, -4/+49Trent Reznor is the only musician now that understands how to effectively market himself in today's world of file sharing. Go torrents!
Other artists need to catch on... - SurrealDream, on 03/03/2008, -2/+45I'm desperate to listen to the album, so I'm going to download via torrent, but I'll find some other way to contribute my payment to the band. I'll probably "buy" the $5 version when the servers are working again, but that seems a little low for me $5 = £2.50 for 4 cds?!?! I'd rather pay in the region of £15-20... Maybe I could buy the album 3 times?
If anyone knows a better way of donating that amount of money to NIN, please let me know. - joshuabowers, on 03/04/2008, -0/+32NIN is offering it in several configurations:
$0: Ghost I
$5: Ghost I-IV for download (one of: 320-mp3, Apple Lossless, FLAC)
$10: 2-CD set containing Ghost I-IV, and above download
$75: The 2-CD set, a DVD with wav's for Garageband, a Blu-ray disc with a slideshow, and a 40+ page book (and download)
$300: the $75 package and a 4-vinyl version. - beerbarron, on 03/03/2008, -1/+32A lot more people should be selling music at this price...
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -2/+33Yeah Trent, you're screwing us over!
$5 is nothing you cheap ass. Don't "bite the hand that feeds", *****. I apologize for the lame pun. - moocowrat, on 03/03/2008, -1/+29i'm a huge NIN fan, always have been, and though i support this whole free internet download revolution, the simple fact remains that if you truly love an art you should support it. 5$ is not asking for a lot. trent is a generous guy. but don't rip him off....
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -6/+34I thought the $80 In Rainbows album was expensive. Took me about 30 minutes to finally just say "***** it!" and get the $300 one.
- lpferris, on 03/03/2008, -1/+23Who ever said that music has to have lyrics? Are you saying that an album of Mozart music isn't really an album?
- laterthandawn, on 03/03/2008, -0/+20If it's just Ghosts I, it's the same thing they're offering for free at the NIN site. That probably lends some credence to it being "official."
If you somehow missed this before: Ghosts I, II, III, and IV as a package is just $5. And, of course, about an hour of your life hitting "reload" at the NIN server. Regardless, it's worth the sore clicking finger and the frustration headache. Promise. - littlemarcho, on 03/03/2008, -0/+18It was released by the band, therefore official
Just as the one from waffles is also official (if it was released by the band) - dogpigeoncow, on 03/03/2008, -0/+17Respect to Trent! He is a ***** soldier of the music industry and we must do all we can to support him and his cause!!
- OmarJasso, on 03/03/2008, -1/+17You've got to be ***** kidding me. Trent GIVES YOU 9 tracks at ridiculously high quality and you can't skip a Big Mac meal to buy the rest?
- DelfinoM, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15It is supporting the artists directly. You seem to be the stupid one here.
- tehdinosaurs, on 03/03/2008, -1/+16Last night's $5 was the first money that I've spent on music (concerts aside) in at least 4 years. I couldn't help but feel good when I made my purchase, but it's just a shame that the servers won't let me download the album now...
Anybody else having issues with downloading (I chose the Apple Lossless)? - OmarJasso, on 03/03/2008, -1/+16I don't know how I feel about buying it from Amazon. I really doubt they're not making profit from it at all. Buying it from NIN.com feels more assuring about it going straight to Trent.
- adooga, on 03/04/2008, -2/+17You bitches are pathetic. Years of whinging about the music business and insisting that you won't pay for DRM, label profiteering, low bitrates, short previews - all valid points and I agree entirely - but now that you have the opportunity to buy 2 hours of DRM free, any-bitrate-you-like music at an extremely generous price ($5 - what's that, a latte?) with the money going straight to the artists, you complain that they're ONLY GIVING YOU HALF AN HOUR OF MUSIC FOR FREE!
Just admit that you want it for free and ANY price will be to much of an "imposition". - exscind, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15Nope, NIN is primarily industrial.
- br0ken1128, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15I bought it twice.. $5.00 via the amazon mp3 store (I don't know why people aren't going there.. no speed or DL issues) .. and I paid $10.00 for the physical pre-order .. I opted to get the FLAC files with my $10.00 purchase, but sure as hell can't download them with all the server issues ..
- subsistenc3, on 03/03/2008, -2/+17Wow, way to ***** over the entire idea, tool. He is giving a FREE sample of the album, which you can then choose to by for $5. People like you were the "***** the RIAA group," but it is now entirely apparent you just want your music for free.
Die in a fire. - xtc46, on 03/03/2008, -1/+16if I had a spare 300 it would have taken me 30 seconds to spend it hehe... I took me an hour to convince my self that I needed the money for other things...stupid rent.
- mourne, on 03/03/2008, -2/+17***** you for refusing to support music. It's ***** like you that make it harder for musicians to quit their day jobs. Music doesn't just grow on trees. Reznor is doing an awesome thing with this release and it sounds like you don't want to 'try before you buy', you just want to reap all the benefits and pay nothing. ***** *****.
- s14sh3r, on 03/03/2008, -2/+16Which is why it's cool that you can download the first 9 songs to see if they're any good.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -1/+14You could spend $10 on the physical album.
- r00ts, on 03/03/2008, -3/+16I simply do not understand why you feel you're entitled to this man's work for nothing. If he's willing to let you own 1/3 of the album for free then you should just say "thank you" and take what you can get. To ask for anything more is just preposterous.
- lpferris, on 03/03/2008, -1/+14The nin.com servers are slammed right now, but you can also download from Amazon for $5.
- allahuakbar, on 03/03/2008, -2/+15God damn, first I though you were being sarcastic, then I just realized you're a douchebag.
- dafragsta, on 03/03/2008, -0/+13Go listen to The Downward Spiral or Pretty Hate Machine start to finish and then come back.
- Merp08, on 03/03/2008, -2/+15What about Radiohead?
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -2/+15You're a dumb ass, and the clear reason why it will be a long time until digital distribution takes off.
- kingmanic, on 03/03/2008, -0/+12I gave Trent his $5, then downloaded the torrent. He's up $5, I'm up 36 tracks of background at work.
- DollofWar, on 03/03/2008, -3/+15lol.
- allahuakbar, on 03/03/2008, -3/+15Okay, so you're just looking for them to be free, you had no intention of paying for anything. Get a ***** life you ***** loser.
- SHv2, on 03/03/2008, -1/+13With all of these comments about "The album is free! Go find it on (insert torrent site here)" The album is not free, just the first 9 tracks. The $5 for the entire 36 track album is quite a good deal.
Now I just hope that he publishes the total sales after a while so we can see how much they really made. That would be an interesting statistic to either cringe at or shove in the RIAAs face.
I know I chucked in my $5 for it, not a bad album, nice background music. Absolutely nothing like their other stuff. Buy it, it's worth the cause at least. Let's push the music industry towards a newer, better medium of distribution. - juicebag, on 03/04/2008, -0/+12I disagree. I enjoy them.
- p4r4d0x, on 03/03/2008, -0/+11You really missed the point, didn't you?
- stellarceltic, on 03/03/2008, -0/+11In all fairness, there are a lot of people that paid for their downloads only to be confronted with a failing server. I paid my $5 last night and STILL don't have the whole set because their servers blow. I have no problem swiping this one until their servers are back up again and I can get my lossless audio.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -2/+12What an idiot.
For the record, Year Zero and With Teeth were not officially freely distributed (Streaming Year Zero doesn't count). - xtc46, on 03/03/2008, -0/+10I agree. 5 dollars ofr 2 hours of music is a steal... Ill be buying the $10 set for now, and hopefully can get the 300 dollar set eventually.
- lpferris, on 03/03/2008, -1/+11Yeah, it's one quarter of the album for free. Who's the fool now?
- littlemarcho, on 03/03/2008, -6/+15Repeat: Just Ghosts I
- darkheartlor, on 03/03/2008, -0/+9I bought it and had a problem with the download, failed on me. So I went out and found the torrent. Still paid the $5 though.
