- ntransit, on 03/03/2008, -13/+606HOLY *****!!!
- TheMime, on 03/03/2008, -12/+63I hope I wasn't the only one who just came.
- johnmalc, on 03/03/2008, -2/+18Wow, this ***** is really good. It harks back to some of my favorite tracks from 'The Fragile'.
Do yourself a solid and pony up $5 for this beast. If you still feel the need to pirate the full album, you're going to burn in hell amongst the RIAA lawyers.- souljaboytellem, on 03/03/2008, -9/+3What's the difference between this and all the other downloads you have done before?
- AutomaticTLC, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2Souljahboy? My brain just exploded..and not in the good way it did when I heard about the NIN album.

- DeadFrost, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5Came? I saw the Headline and I put on my "O" face...Ooooo Ooooo Ooooo
- artofwar420, on 03/03/2008, -2/+4I think it IS a new business model done right. I remember the last album, Year Zero, I didn't even know it was going to come out, then I just pirated it. BUT, here, and with In Rainbows, they let me know, in a medium that I frequent. AND, they made it so that I buy it for really cheaply compared to the brick and mortar stores. I have to admit I never had "bought" an album in my life (I got gifts and such), but this will be my second purchase. Radiohead got my 2.25 dollars, and now NIN will get my 5 bucks. Why? Why not. It's cheaper, easier and THEY GET THE MONEY, NOT A PERCENTAGE.
This is a joyous day for NIN fans. I'm just listening to the preview in Amazon, and yes it is kickass.- Velvolver, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5You're obviously an idiot or just not a nin fan if you missed the YearZero marketing.
- offspring06, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2I just came and I'm not a huge NIN fan. I maybe a huge fan now though. Trent you ***** genius.
- johnmalc, on 03/03/2008, -2/+18Wow, this ***** is really good. It harks back to some of my favorite tracks from 'The Fragile'.

- wphj, on 03/03/2008, -7/+120I'd like to see how many people who write things like "***** THE RIAA" actually buy this and support a new kind of business model. How many do you think will still just pirate it?
I'm not anti-pirating, I do it myself, I just don't like it when people pretend they're doing something honorable. It's not stealing, but it's not really moral either.- niskel, on 03/03/2008, -2/+103I just dropped $369.99 on this...
***** THE RIAA- wellyuk, on 03/03/2008, -27/+4thanks guy, you've paid for my copy too.
- blackacre, on 03/03/2008, -0/+8I think that's the idea behind this business model. Some people will take the $5 download (hell, I'm going to once the server gets unclogged) and others will make up the difference by buying the more expensive packages. This will not stop piracy, of course, but I think enough people will put down the $5 to make this a profitable model.
- nichiyume, on 03/03/2008, -1/+3Especially since besides bandwidth there isn't a cost of making another copy and I assume they bought bulk bandwidth so this actually benefits the people like me that is about to buy the $300 edition. They did not have these kinds of editions before piracy. Its a PAIN to try to collect old NIN vinyl, and now it comes with a blu-ray and cd and download and everything else? This is cheaper than before!!
- Ribbed4U, on 03/03/2008, -0/+12Exactly. I'll probably get the $5 download just to support this business model even though I'm not really interested in getting the music. Just to support a cause and for a chance to tell the RIAA to ***** off.
- bbardlbradd, on 03/03/2008, -1/+9What happens when the business model is adopted though??? Will you "support" it forever?
I don't mean to be a troll, but seriously, this idea of paying to support the idea is bad. Once the idea is adopted people will stop paying (Not all, but those of you who only pay to make a point). You need to pay b/c Trent Reznor deserves it. You listen and like, TIP HIM. $5 is a fair tip to a waitress, to a man who makes (and might I add, beautiful and meaningful) art, a $5 tip is minimal. If the industry and artists realize that people are paying just b/c they want to see more free music, what's the rush to adopt this model?
Trent is a badass, if you like his work then you don't have much to worry about. He hates the industry too.
- wellyuk, on 03/03/2008, -27/+4thanks guy, you've paid for my copy too.
- Shadow6363, on 03/03/2008, -0/+40Not quite as impressive, but I just dropped $5.00 and oh yeah, ***** THE RIAA.
- chubbstar, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3$13.49 for shipping?? trent, dont pull an eBay and over charge shipping for 2 measly cds.
- deviantsteve, on 03/03/2008, -1/+22I grabbed the free 9 tracks to check it out, will buy the rest of the 36 tracks if its good. For $5 though I still wouldn't feel robbed like I would buying a 2 disc set for $23.
- Capta1nA, on 03/03/2008, -3/+7I'm getting the free download now, but as soon as I get paid this week I'm gonna buy one of the physical versions.
- chubbstar, on 03/03/2008, -1/+7$13.49 for shipping?? trent, dont pull an eBay and over charge shipping for 2 measly cds.
- The42, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2I bought it ($6.99 for S/H?). Happy to support trent, happy to buy the phys-disc version of the album. If I had more disposable income I'd be all over that limited edition.
- iainc, on 03/03/2008, -0/+55 bucks for the download. Sure, I'll have some of that (when the site recovers from the Digg effect). At least it's *all* going to the NIN crew.
- offspring06, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3I payed $5 bucks for it and I always say ***** the RIAA. Even though I haven't listen to NIN much I still want to support efforts like this to get rid of the RIAA. Hell, if I like the music I will buy the CD.
- EricPeters, on 03/04/2008, -0/+3I don't even like NIN but I'm still going to buy this because I completely support what they're doing.
- niskel, on 03/03/2008, -2/+103I just dropped $369.99 on this...

You can preview the album and buy the $5 version on Amazon- hobophobe, on 03/03/2008, -0/+9I'm glad Amazon has released their download client for linux. I'm glad they are giving Apple competition.
That said, it would be very nice if they would allow you to download the liner from them (I know you can get it through nin.com anyway) and that you could download in the format of your choice too.
You can get 320kbps LAME-encoded or FLAC or Apple format from nin.com but only 256kbps mp3 (dunno what encoder) from Amazon.com
For an artist that is going out of his way to be available over the wire, Amazon should go the extra mile too.- deviantsteve, on 03/03/2008, -0/+5Why are you going to the middleman anyways?
- bat-21, on 03/03/2008, -1/+12Because the middleman's server isn't *****.

- dshPls, on 03/03/2008, -2/+17I just wanted to point out too, if you go to nin.com and check out the video's or pictures, they both use social network sites (youtube and flickr) and Trent links to this story. It's awesome^2 that he embraces the free sites we all use to display his media.

Dear God I hope this is not the biggest Rick-rolling of all time...- senatorpjt, on 03/03/2008, -1/+14I'd pay extra to hear Trent covering Rick Astley.
- artofwar420, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1YES, yes, yes, yes.
- senatorpjt, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1There's actually a copy of his old band (Option 30) covering Falco floating around, but Rick Astley would be even better.
- artofwar420, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1YES, yes, yes, yes.

- lucabrazi6, on 03/03/2008, -12/+0DON"T GET A BIG DICK!
- AGHatecraft, on 03/03/2008, -0/+18I'd just like to say that, while I'm only though the first 5 tracks, this album sums up why I ever enjoyed NIN in the first place. This is totally worth $10. It's 36 tracks of moody instrumentals, and has been a pleasant surprise so far. If nothing else, all those who want to show their support for artists willing to attempt to circumvent the grips of major labels and media corporations should purchase the $5 version. It's not like you are getting completely ripped off.
Well done Trent! Your last couple of NIN albums weren't that great, but this more than makes up for it, and I will continue to support your efforts to improve the conditions of music distribution. - DuxDucis, on 03/03/2008, -0/+14Sorry About the comment abust, but:
"Update: The response to this album has been overwhelming, causing our
website to slow to a crawl. We THOUGHT we were ready, but...
We've been adding more servers to accommodate the unexpected demand and we expect to be running smoothly in the next few hours. In the meantime, if you've had any problems with downloads from the Ghosts site, don't worry - you'll be able to use your download link again when the site is more stable. Thanks everyone for making this such an
immediate success.

hell I WANT to pay 5$ for this, especially if its in FLAC- Wilarseny, on 03/03/2008, -0/+45Yea, I'm a poor college student and I don't really have money to buy CDs, nor am I a fan of NiN, but just to support this kind of movement they'll have my money. Nice job, guys.
- OrangeSoda31, on 03/03/2008, -0/+13I agree. I want to buy this simply because they are doing this. The only NiN I have ever heard was when I played Quake many years ago.
- kenyan, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2Wow, I thought I was alone in that situation. I fit it to a T. I'm glad there are such supporters. I've heard Ghosts I and I have to drop 10 bucks.

I don't know why you bury this guy so much. Downloading this stuff from torrent websites is 100% legal since it's based on that CC license. Nevertheless all of us NIN fans should support TR and go for that $10 option :).

- sgtpppr, on 03/03/2008, -1/+46Make sure you guys support this...seriously. People bitched because there wasn't an option to preview the music and there weren't enough options with previous incarnations of the download direct from artist...well, this new system has addressed these issues.

- br0ken1128, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah I bought it from Amazon.. the downloader froze my computer before the download started.. - skyroket, on 03/03/2008, -4/+1I love it: Trent Reznor explains, "I've been considering and wanting to make this kind of record for years, but by its very nature it wouldn't have made sense until this point..."

- abhpro, on 03/03/2008, -35/+18The 36 tracks more than makes up for it being only instrumental. Don't get me wrong, I love NIN's instrumentals, but I love the non-instrumentals even more. $10 CD set ftw.
- volacide, on 03/03/2008, -1/+22Instrumental = Pure talent = Trent Reznor
Some songs are more powerful with the right vocals no doubt about it, but at the same time I wish I could have instrumental versions of all my songs too.

- nagual678, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3I agree, but too bad that this will most likely prove that people want free music and not just and responsible retribution of money to the artist. Just as with the previous experiments, the vast majority of people will download the album for free and not pay for it hiding behind the fact that they wanted to listen to it before and didn't like it. It's probably going to be a huge disappointment for a lot of people.
Anyway, as soon as the website gets back up I'll get the 5$ version. I love NIN !- thedragon4453, on 03/03/2008, -1/+4While Ill bet that a lot of people will get the free version, I still think this is a win for everyone. He's probably making more money off of diggers alone than he did on the last album from a label. Ok, so an exaggeration, but still. I don't see how he can't make a ton of cash on this.
- therightclique, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1god damn it, you give digg too much credit. you think there are more people that use dig than bought his last album? are you insane?
- thedragon4453, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I was exaggerating. The point I was trying to make was that he is going to make a lot more money on this record than on previous albums, even though it probably won't sell as well.
- therightclique, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1god damn it, you give digg too much credit. you think there are more people that use dig than bought his last album? are you insane?
- poptartrevival, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3I got the free version, listened to it, then bought the $10.00 cd. Even if you just buy the $5.00 version, it's $5.00 that goes towards more work!
- carpespasm, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1there might be the vast majority of people not paying for it, but since artists rarely if ever see more than a few cents per album through a record label, even if only 5% of the listeners buy the hard copy they'll be making more.
- thedragon4453, on 03/03/2008, -1/+4While Ill bet that a lot of people will get the free version, I still think this is a win for everyone. - rezzy333, on 03/03/2008, -1/+4This is just too great. He still knows how to excite his fans. Not too many bands can still do that after a couple decades,
- kkayel, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2Dugg, simply because of Trent Reznor.
- Tyrghast, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I just crit my pants. I love all the NIN albums, but my first thought when i clicked the link was "Sweet more Nine Inch Nai........HOLY CRAP this is a very well done website..."
- Justice101, on 03/03/2008, -0/+21He knows how to make music too.
- halofourteen, on 03/03/2008, -2/+273I did NOT expect new music. I also was so excited that I downloaded the $5 one immediately without seeing that the physical pre-order came with a download! Oh well, its surely worth it!

- GeckoSlayer, on 03/03/2008, -2/+13no offense to diggers or anything, but i'm not much of a fan of nin. however, am a massive fan of trent reznor's mindset regarding the music world, and as such, just downed $300. someone match me.
- therightclique, on 03/03/2008, -7/+13no. you're an idiot. you bought a product you didn't really want for way more than it would be worth even if you did want it. that makes you a tool. just because you're not being ripped off by the RIAA doesn't mean you aren't being ripped off, or allowing yourself to be ripped off.
- GeckoSlayer, on 03/03/2008, -0/+10i've illegally downloaded most of nin's albums to see what they were like, and now i feel he deserves the money for doing all of this, and i am not about to go out and buy those albums in the store, i'd much rather spend the $300 on this, than spend it on 3 console games i'd never play.

- IronGoldfish, on 03/03/2008, -1/+7I respect both artists entirely. Anyone who is willing to make such a bold move in an increasingly structured music industry gets my support. I will be going with the $5 download. If I enjoy the album, I will definately get the physical version.
- AutomaticTLC, on 03/03/2008, -3/+4Right, I respect and love both artists as well. I was just commenting on how Trent Reznor GREATLY improved on the Radiohead model.
- sonikhalo, on 03/03/2008, -5/+1more like 2 fists to the face! NIN is far superior to radiohead. Radiohead tried the online thing and noone bought it, so they put it in stores for 10 bucks.
- mywhitenoise, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3They're plan was always to release it in store once they found a label. Don't be a douche.
- SamIAre, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1Agree 100% Radiohead publicist or something came out and said, flat-out, that they were only doing it because they thought the album would still be a commercial success. - jcm267, on 03/03/2008, -9/+3I take a look at friends/commented and it's the always hypocritical Brappie downloading mainstream music. When I listen to The Beatles, Elton John, Genesis/Phil Collins, Tom Petty, U2, Nirvana, Sublime, Biggie, or Kanye West I am a "pop princess", but you downloading this doesn't make you one? Must you be hypocritical in every thing that you do, Brappie?
- BrapAllgood, on 03/03/2008, -7/+5I've been listening since 1989 on the day Pretty Hate Machine came out. I was the first person I ever heard speak the words 'Nine-Inch Nails' and I sold hundreds of them in the record store I managed LONG before eMpTeeVee 'made' Reznor. It's a fact, Momma. Do I stop liking music that becomes popular? No, *that* would be hypocrisy (as well as just stupid, assuming the music pleases me).
What makes you a 'Pop Princess' is admitting your 'guilty pleasure' of soft rock on the radio when alone in the car. That is also a fact.
The Beatles? Yeah, they were pretty cool when I was 12.
Elton John? Only in Tommy. Otherwise, it's all you.
Genesis? I have a cat I can strangle quicker than I can reach a Genesis album. It's actually more fun, too.
Phil Collins? I have TWO cats....
Tom Petty? Very, very talented pop.
U2? Back in high school in the 80's, they were THE *****. Now, just mostly *****.
Nirvana? I had to hear *****' Bleach so many times in the aforementioned record store, I could easily spend the rest of my life without that experience repeating.
Sublime? POP. ALL YOU.
Biggie? Nope. Nor Smallie. All you, PP Momma. I can drop the beats and LOVE them forever, but you can keep the words.
Kanye? I'm going to be nice to Kanye and say only this.
"I take a look at friends/commented and it's the always hypocritical Brappie downloading mainstream music."
Um, whut? Kan uu mekk since off thes fur m3? Itt 2 rtrded fur m3 2 unnarstan.
I have a question for YOU...what other 'mainstream bands' have I downloaded, wannabe stalker? Name one. Please. Considering I always pay for my music, I know exactly all I have ever downloaded and can NAME them:
NiN
Skalpel
Tom Middleton
Saul Williams
That's IT. All the rest are discs and, um, not what you would (or could, I'd wager) imagine. So ***** off already.
(For those of you arriving late, this dink trolls me all the time. Move along, nothing to see here.) - jcm267, on 03/03/2008, -5/+3Unlike you, I do not always go into old submissions where you haven't commented for days/weeks just to get a little comment in. I came here when I saw you in my friends/commented list being your hypocritical self. I don't know who you are trying to impress by trying to say that I usually troll you when we both know that in reality the exact opposite is true. So please just shut the ***** up about the stalker *****.
You are that arrogant indie listening douche who arrogantly dismisses what people listen to when in fact it's YOUR tastes that suck, as evidenced by the fact that nothing you like generally hits mainstream. Your politics are horrible, you believe in 9/11 conspiracies and are a fan of David Icke, and you are a lying hypocrite. - Zalyster, on 03/03/2008, -0/+7Hey here's a thought. No one cares.
- BrapAllgood, on 03/03/2008, -3/+3"Unlike you, I do not always go into old submissions where you haven't commented for days/weeks just to get a little comment in." - LIE.
"I came here when I saw you in my friends/commented list being your hypocritical self." - I am not your friend, you are my fan. This makes you the stalker, hissyfit.
"I don't know who you are trying to impress by trying to say that I usually troll you when we both know that in reality the exact opposite is true." - LIE. Pissy little lying bitch. As usual. Ho hum.
"So please just shut the ***** up about the stalker *****." -So stop stalking me. Find someone else to imaginarily befriend, dink.
"You are that arrogant indie listening douche who arrogantly dismisses what people listen to when in fact it's YOUR tastes that suck, as evidenced by the fact that nothing you like generally hits mainstream." -YAWN. I like what I like. I admit what I like shamelessly. I pick on you for what you like because I CAN, you petty little girlie man. If I couldn't, I wouldn't. :) Now, tell me which bands that I like that suck, please. I did for you....
"Your politics are horrible, you believe in 9/11 conspiracies and are a fan of David Icke, and you are a lying hypocrite." -WAH! I pwned. :( I guess I'll just call you a prissy little finniky and leave it at that. Will you? :)

"I am not your friend, you are my fan. This makes you the stalker, hissyfit."
- I'm an anti-conspiracy theorist troll. I admit that. But I do not go to your profile page to look for your comments, which is something that you do with me.
"So stop stalking me. Find someone else to imaginarily befriend, dink."
- You love being a victim.
"YAWN. I like what I like. I admit what I like shamelessly. I pick on you for what you like because I CAN, you petty little girlie man. If I couldn't, I wouldn't. :) Now, tell me which bands that I like that suck, please. I did for you...."
- Actually I personally believe that the electronic music that you make is pretty damn lame. I don't like NiN, but I don't arrogantly put down others who like them like you did with me.
Go ahead and say that you "pwned", Brappie. It doesn't make it true. You have an arrogant persona on digg but I firmly believe that you are one of the most emotionally fragile human beings that I have ever interacted with. Go ahead and live your sad little life as a Ron Paul supporter, David Icke fan, 9/11 Truther, chemtrail conspiracy nut,and unemployable whiner. All you are to me is a sad, pathetic person to laugh at. - BrapAllgood, on 03/03/2008, -3/+2For not stalking me, you sure (supposedly) know a lot about me. And I was saying YOU pwned ME, but I can see how you missed it and it was just sarcasm anyway.
Now, these threads...exactly how do you know HOW I get to a thread? Hmmm? You are a vain little prick. Sorry, but you don't matter that much. I just like to see what kinda crap you might spew next.
I don't give a ***** WHO likes my music, as I do it for ME, Miss Priss. I am actually pleased that you don't like it. It would ruin my image of you tremendously for you to have an experimental bone in your body, I think.
That whole last paragraph is amazingly sad...in fact, I just think I'll go cry myself to sleep now. {sniff-sniffle-sniff}
Hey wait! You actually almost said a NiN thing there! You said 'fragile'. Be careful, Momma...you might actually hit the topic with crazy behavior like that!
- andrew522, on 03/03/2008, -1/+2yea amazon is nice but there is no lossless!
in this case it is most useful to get a taste of what the album is.
- BrapAllgood, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3Ah, a good server. Thanks!
- nivekastoreth, on 03/03/2008, -5/+0also available from http://www.ainr.com/ however, when I bought mine I didn't get a means to download the full version, so just be warned.
- Rotzooi, on 03/03/2008, -0/+6LOL, Trent himself is seeding the free version on Waffles.fm, right next to all the illegal copies of the paid versions, which is he cool about. Trent is the MAN.

- juicebag, on 03/03/2008, -7/+103troll harder
- eugenie, on 03/03/2008, -6/+63any mention of mcr and fallout boy invalidates your credibility in one fell swoop. tampon?
- mparker7410, on 03/03/2008, -4/+30Radiohead and NIN ...I don't think it gets any bigger in the world of non-***** bands, so STFU!
- therightclique, on 03/03/2008, -10/+5dude, you accidentally left the word "Radiohead" in that sentence. I can only assume that was part of a rough draft, as some sort of joke, and you forgot to edit it out for the final draft, not fully realizing rational thinkers would read your words.
- melonade, on 03/03/2008, -3/+56For one, Fallout Boy and MCR are definitely *****.
For two, they will never do this. They are way too mainstream and liked by way too many 14 year old girls.- 80hd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+7Fall out boy would not exist if it were not for the suits who handled every decision - which also means that their version of music will be the very last (except country and REAL hardcore pop) to be distributed like this.
- Akraz, on 03/03/2008, -2/+39MCR and FOB are probably 2 of the worst bands ever created
- stevealford, on 03/03/2008, -0/+17Take out the word "probably" and you'll be correct.
- Nickooo, on 03/03/2008, -2/+34"Not *****...like Fallout Boy." Nice joke.

You don't wish death on anybody and you don't put Fall out Boy anywhere but the very bottom of the worst list of miserable noise. - Lane, on 03/03/2008, -1/+1I do not know that digg has one....

- trudetski, on 03/03/2008, -5/+1You are the master of ***** trolling sir. I commend you on a job well done. Too bad the rest of Digg didn't get the joke.
- alterImperson, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I'd love to call you to tell you, but you didn't post your phone number. Well, in any case, three great artists have done this now, Radiohead, Saul Williams, and now Nine Inch Nails. If you don't like any of those three and aren't willing to even check them out, then you are no fan of music and should have your iPod revoked.
- DuxDucis, on 03/03/2008, -2/+9I just burried your comment and reported it for being offensive.

- zekt, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1This is one interesting problem that the 'new' record industry is going to need to solve.
How do artists or a group of artists manage the server load that is going to be required for the few days after release? To not have servers up and available surely means that there will be lost sales - as people go to download it and forget about it (or get a copy from elsewhere).
I purchased this yesterday and am still getting server timeouts trying to download it.

- EricDowner, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah, that Radiohead album sure tanked, eh?
- bingobongony, on 03/03/2008, -3/+2Is this Raidohead? And do you have proof that they made more money than they would have if they had hte backing of a label, etc? No, you don't, because they didn't.
- MadFistWilly, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Well, it's not Radiohead, but both bands have gained huge followings over the years. I think In Rainbows made Radiohead a lot of money, but it doesn't even matter if it was more than with a label behind them. There are a lot of things that can be more important than money. Labels can limit what you can do by forcing you to adhere to their definition of your music. Artists who want more freedom in their music and management of the band probably don't want a label if they don't need one. So, for bands like Radiohead, and Nine Inch Nails, this model makes their music more accessible and makes them a pretty penny.
- bingobongony, on 03/03/2008, -3/+2Is this Raidohead? And do you have proof that they made more money than they would have if they had hte backing of a label, etc? No, you don't, because they didn't.
- AGHatecraft, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4yeah, it's too bad it's actually pretty good. I'm listening to it right now, and it's far exceeded my expectations. Ignorance is bliss until you find out that you are ignorant.
- bingobongony, on 03/03/2008, -2/+1So...you are currently in junior high school then? I mean seriously...don't tell anyone you like NIN if you are in colelge or later. It is for your own good. I know you have given up trying to get laid...but admitting that will get you stuck in an even lower class than virgins...or Digger.
- jarekb86, on 03/03/2008, -2/+37Much respect to Trent for this move. Ever since his comments in Australia about price of Cd's being astronomical and telling the audience to "steal" his music, I've been looking forward to this move. 2 disc set is only 10 bucks. Really cool.
- thepainkiller, on 03/03/2008, -1/+10It took some constant refreshing, but I finally have it downloading right now. =]
- marksy, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1yeah same, took me ages to try get the dl to work. Went from FFX to Safari, to IE6.. then tried it a couple times on Safari for mac and it finally worked... then stalled.. then finished downloading after 50 agonising minutes.
- danandre, on 03/03/2008, -2/+161I'm going to buy this album for 5$ eventhough I don't listen to NIN.
Alot of props to this guy for venturing into the business model of tomorrow.
Special props for FLAC and 320kbit encoding.- vtnerd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15Same here. Maybe I'll like the music and maybe I won't, but I definitely want to encourage more to follow in his steps.
- happyfundave, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15Cause really why the ***** not. Worst case scenario is you hate the album but still don't miss 5 ***** dollars
- wireframework, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3Amen.
- fuhlavaflave, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3Me too. I like this idea. 5 Bucks is nothing, and artists need to know that they can make money this way.
- chicaneuk, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3Same here. Nothing but 100% respect to Trent for doing this. I've never been into NIN but $5 to show my support for what he's trying to do seems completely worth it - the music is just a bonus.
Awesome.
- fletcherrr, on 03/03/2008, -6/+125I guess I'll go ahead with the obligatory....
***** THE RIAA!!!- Lane, on 03/03/2008, -1/+10FLAC THE RIAA!!
- Psykus2, on 03/03/2008, -4/+8Does the captcha on the site not work for anyone else? I'm trying to resist the urge to torrent this elsewhere
- Psykus2, on 03/03/2008, -1/+39Oh, win:
"Now that we're no longer constrained by a record label, we've decided to personally upload Ghosts I, the first of the four volumes, to various torrent sites, because we believe BitTorrent is a revolutionary digital distribution method, and we believe in finding ways to utilize new technologies instead of fighting them.
We encourage you to share the music of Ghosts I with your friends, post it on your website, play it on your podcast, use it for video projects, etc. It's licensed for all non-commercial use under Creative Commons." - 80hd, on 03/03/2008, -0/+3What an awesome move.
Please let this be a precedent for others to follow. I'm in love with the music, the distribution, the whole idea of it. - mikebar, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2I tried the captcha multiple times and it wouldn't work either. Then I clicked on it when I left it blank and it worked!
Try that.
- Psykus2, on 03/03/2008, -1/+39Oh, win:
- AndrewDB, on 03/03/2008, -3/+143You know, I originally said Trent Reznor for President, but, I think we should start small.
Trent Reznor for RIAA president.
Reznor is the ***** man.- broodking, on 03/03/2008, -0/+6id vote for him
- keviniskool, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1Small? I'm pretty sure he has more power than the President, what with all of his lobbyists.
- ElBeh, on 03/03/2008, -31/+12Torrent in 3...2...
- Dorepoll, on 03/03/2008, -6/+21I don't particularly feel like spitting in someone's face when they are trying their hardest to give us music at an affordable price, in the best format they can manage and using a system that is easy and convenient. If we torrent this, we're getting nowhere with the RIAA.
- ElBeh, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15I war really saying that because the download site is down, and a torrent would be a great mirror for those nine free files, but whatever.
- Dorepoll, on 03/03/2008, -0/+11Good. Reznor has used The Pirate Bay before, so who knows.
- BSDaemon, on 03/04/2008, -0/+1Umm.. why not use the official torrent?
- ElBeh, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15I war really saying that because the download site is down, and a torrent would be a great mirror for those nine free files, but whatever.
- extreme101, on 03/03/2008, -1/+5download from their site, merely to get their stats up, which in turn shows that this works!
- thrikulam, on 03/03/2008, -0/+9As of now, there's a slight problem with that method...
- kinseyincanada, on 03/03/2008, -4/+47They have released an official torrent on PB http://thepiratebay.org/tor/4059158/Nine_Inch_Nail ...
- killerstache, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4dude, how awesome is Trent Reznor?
- Dorepoll, on 03/03/2008, -6/+21I don't particularly feel like spitting in someone's face when they are trying their hardest to give us music at an affordable price, in the best format they can manage and using a system that is easy and convenient. - FoxOrian, on 03/03/2008, -1/+46"And it's available for download.... starting TODAY."
- kris33, on 03/03/2008, -0/+12Steve, are you there?
- ThreeDee912, on 03/03/2008, -0/+6Dugg for semi-obscure Steve Jobs reference.
- JessicaSarahS, on 03/03/2008, -0/+15This is exciting news! I did not expect this to be the "big" news. I was thinking, "*sigh*, another remix album...." But, damn!! If only the damn store would work!! >X-@
- Metalmoon, on 03/03/2008, -2/+14their server is obviously taking a hit right now. i tried, but no luck

- adegen, on 03/03/2008, -0/+4amazon.com $5 all 36 tracks
- brettmurf, on 03/03/2008, -0/+1I wouldn't mind the PDF to go along with it. I take it that amazon does not include this with it though? Definitely would like some good music to work to and instrumental NIN would be perfect for that.
- ryanadc, on 03/03/2008, -0/+2you can get the PDF for free off of their site...I found the link for it in their TPB tracker. It's at http://ghosts.nin.com/main/pdf
