- NINman, on 03/13/2008, -1/+42Trent... always on the cutting edge and pioneering what it to come with the music industry.
Not saying I don't appreciate what Radiohead did with their album, but this is the type of innovation that deserves recognition.
What a great time to be a fan of Nine Inch Nails. - gonpost, on 03/13/2008, -3/+28That link isn't exactly the best...just go to nin.com to read exactly what TR said.
- phaseblue, on 03/13/2008, -1/+23Just taking this one more opportunity to state: Trent Reznor is my hero.
Anyway, brb, Trent's gonna get me a coffee. - Subriot, on 03/13/2008, -4/+26Obligatory: ***** THE RIAA.
- cunnybungler, on 03/13/2008, -1/+18We would have linked directly to nin.com but Digg wouldn't allow it, so we linked to the biggest fan site out there instead.
- froggyNIN, on 03/13/2008, -6/+21actually, its just too bad your taste in music sucks.
- cunnybungler, on 03/13/2008, -0/+13Moron, his record label was the one who brought the lawsuit, Trent got it cleared up and hooked the guy up with tickets and passes to the nearest show. Get your story straight before you fly off the handle.
- jdissonant, on 03/13/2008, -0/+12This is a great idea. I just wish I had some kind of talent for working with video :
- markbrown, on 03/13/2008, -0/+11Ghosts I-IV is ***** awesome. I have a new found appreciation for NIN.
- billymonster, on 03/13/2008, -1/+10this project keeps getting better and better.
- heroicraptor, on 03/13/2008, -1/+10http://www.theninhotline.net/news/#1205431140
Is that better?
I did try to use nin.com, but digg kept saying it was a dupe. - getbusyliving, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8He was never a heroin addict. He's a recovering alcoholic.
- malechite, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8This is pretty cool, a couple users on the echoingthesound forums (http://www.echoingthesound.org) Decided to make music videos to the tracks...
Looks like all of us (including me) who are making videos are going to have even more to do with them!
http://www.echoingthesound.org/phpbbx/viewtopic.ph ... - cunnybungler, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5Cawpin, try submitting a link to nin.com yourself and let us know what happens.
- SuperOmegaSlack, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4This is awesome! I downloaded the album when it came out and thought of a video to make with one of the songs... Now I have a reason to actually make it!!!!
- Verdanic, on 03/13/2008, -0/+4I disagree with mrpacco and love NIN, but taste is taste, not a definitive answer. When will people get that through their skulls?
- Artemisian, on 03/14/2008, -0/+4I agree with NINman; Radiohead doesn't deserve the accolades they're receiving for starting off this "revolution" of sorts. It was a good start, but they're not passionate about achieving an overthrow of the recording industry, and that's fine. That's just their thing; they make their music and don't really care too much about the industry around it. Reznor on the other hand seems pretty incensed to declare war on the labels; he's taking steps and putting figures out there that prove it can be done. That deserves far more recognition.
- Herald42, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4Holy crap. Get that granny a record contract right away, please.
- tmyprod, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4Hot Damn! Gonna go shooting asap!
- monospaced, on 03/14/2008, -0/+3Absolutely. He is embracing his audience in ways never done before, and he's opening windows of creativity to a whole new generation. I have no doubt the results will be as stunning as the music itself.
- eddie72, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3I've noticed the same thing and if it isn't a troll it is usually a automated response to someone's own news posting.
- paulg2000, on 03/13/2008, -1/+4I just *knew* there was something else brewing with this release! Just seemed too full of opportunity to be a one-off-release-and-on-to-something-else thing...
- holyreality, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3great idea, I was thinking about making a short to one of the tracks anyway. now there's some extra incentive.
- lucidapathy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3wanted to digg you down as a NIN fan , but after watching that vid I think you're right.
- volacide, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Wow, who else is doing stuff like this? It's safe to say Trent is revolutionizing the industry.
- evantravers, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3This is brilliant. First time I heard it I thought it was made for short films.
- spudnic, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2I'll buy the beans.
- Jerky1312, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2I was actually going to suggest something like this, since the album was released under Creative Commons license. It's a great move, not only does it get the community involved, but its also a great promotional tool to have thousands of unofficial (official) music videos on YouTube. Since they are working with YouTube, YouTube is going to put this on the front page and promote this also, so that is even more marketing and viewers for the album. Freedom of music allows for such projects like this. Trent Reznor is a pioneer and I'm sure this is going to lead to more musicians releasing their albums in similar fashion. I am a NIN fans because of their ideas first, secondly because of their music.
- Deaconstructed, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2This is weird because I was already working on a story based off a dream I had after listening to Ghosts to help me fall into sleep... and I was going to use the music since it is what I think induced the dream.
- Houghy, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2but it has just gotten better because of this...
- heroicraptor, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2It wasn't there when I tried to.
- grayedMatter, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3I wonder if this anything to do with NINs marketing company ? Sigur Ros debuted their 97 minute film on Youtube's front page last week and are releasing a photography book based on touring their homeland (similar to the contents of the film), and coincidentally, they also use the same marketing company. The Ghosts albums are sold on the site as well.
http://www.ainr.com/ - inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2not saying they ripped of, its only inspiration and there nothing wrong with that.
- monospaced, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Love the enthusiasm, and I appreciate the awesome NIN lyric. Digg from me, bro.
- monospaced, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1YouTube is simply the most ideal venue for submitting the videos. I truly hope that when the winners are selected they will submit original copies of their videos. In Trent we trust.
- fenrir, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1They are actually working on it, you can try adding "&fmt=18" for a higher quality video.
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -2/+3Yea ghosts was awesome but after listening to it had a huge king crimson vibe to it and they probably inspired ghosts, you people should check out ThrakAttack, Thrak, projeckts and the power to believe. Heh there a bunch of pieces called ghosts(with numbers at the ends) on the projeckts albums.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehMAvlMZCgU&feature ... - Verdanic, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Love the idea and love NIN's tactics, but Youtube just has disgusting video quality/compression - they really do need to work on that. I understand why it's that way, but for a site with that much backing you think there would be improvement sometime over the course of a few years.
- PCWizKid, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Awesome, I did a quick entry for this just now here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QsxD29EzOE
Cheers
PCWizKid - getbusyliving, on 03/13/2008, -1/+2:i will make something with sense and meaning
Can you post a comment with sense and meaning too while you're at it? - NikZ, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1You can get unique links for Trent's posts from the RSS feed:

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=FcOXxRhwBMM - Jimbuck, on 03/14/2008, -1/+2I sense some penis-envy? Get some decent taste my friend.
- jpjd, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1THE PLAYLISTS article on the festival.

- q314, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFwoAAwA5gw
Uploaded this 3/4/08 so I could easily share the music with family and friends. The video is old, but I never had any music to put to it. - cloneenolc, on 03/15/2008, -0/+1You are so defensive. I see all but one of your diggs are NIN posts. Looks like this is probably an account set up by Trent or on of his cohorts to promote his own posts to the front page of digg so he can make some $$$ again.
The real heroes in the music world like Miller Puckette are not concerned with profit. - soupdawg30, on 03/13/2008, -2/+2For some reason Ghost I reminds me of Silent Hill.
