- DirtyWorker, on 10/12/2007, -10/+231That they have to get a proper domain, and maybe even get a professional to make their web page so people can take them seriously for the first time ever?
- AlanKc, on 10/12/2007, -12/+88With 130,000,000 users, its gonna be the longest death you've ever seen. It not going anywhere soon..

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44"social netoworking sites are dime a dozen, they are fads"
just like digg :)
I love it but it feels very much like a fad, something better with the same features will come along. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31This article doesn't explain how MySpace is dying. It's just sensationalist *****.
- JonDiggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -10/+38social netoworking sites are dime a dozen, they are fads
- RamanujanRedux, on 10/12/2007, -3/+29So? If Myspace goes, another social networking site (not NewsCorp owned, not as teenage-centric, etc. etc.) will take its place, and every feature on MySpace follows. Is that a bad thing?
- reldruh, on 10/12/2007, -6/+30facebook also doesn't let people crapify their pages, my major complaint with myspace. Good riddance, I say.
- tekz0r, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Won't someone please think of the emo children?
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26Just yesterday I was playing bf2 at an internet cafe and I saw this middle aged not-so-good-looking man sitting next to me on his myspace. Every single one of his friends were girls (at least 15 years younger than him) in bikinis and he was going from girl to girl commenting on ALL their pictures making stupid jokes about thighs and Thanksgiving.
It was at this moment that I realized that Myspace must die. - Threnody, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Yeah just like everybody stuck with ICQ after competing IM networks were built. Just like nobody left Yahoo for competing search engines. Just like nobody left Kazaa for Bittorrent. If somebody does it better, sooner or later the masses will catch on.
- bglodde, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25"It's true that MySpace has over 130 million users and is the second most trafficked website"
Oh yes, that appears to be a sure sign of a site dying. - senzafine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19@Petrarch1603
I was wondering where that came from as well. There weren't any stats in the post. Just random unqualified opinions. Just goes to show that articles make the front page of digg without actually having been read. - JeremiahLBurns, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24What it means is that there's too goddamn many bands on MySpace. I enjoyed MySpace for the blogging aspect...and to be fair for the social networking aspect at first. But...now I just use it as a copy of my Blogger blog for friends that still want to see it...and then I avoid myspace like the plague that it is.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19myspace.com may be dying, but puddlegum.net is dead.

- glock22ownr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21@mem2:
Digg is not a social networking site, I see it as a crap filter for news that is not important. People don't get on Digg to leave friends stupid messages, and blog about this or that meaningless issue. Point is Digg.com is awesome, and MySpace.com is a sloppy ***** sandwich... and no i dont work for Digg - InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Yeah, that was a superbly weak argument. I like this bit:
"Since the average MySpace user is a teenager, artists may find that their fan-base has either forgotten them or moved on to the next community site."
huh? teens have sporadic amnesia? - Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19"It's been all over the news recently - MySpace is dying!" ummm no it hasnt been all over the news...you just posted that to get people to digg your post
- kabewm, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I'll believe it when Netcraft confirms it ...
- seether166, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11That is a pretty worthless article. Although they vaguely mention a reason MySpace MIGHT die ("most of their users are teenagers, studies show that the masses will naturally migrate to the next big fad") they hardly give an real reasons why it IS dying. I disagree with the amount of time people spend on a site being a measure of its popularity. I for one surf pretty quickly, scanning information and moving on. Overall, I'm thinking this is just a sensationalist article.
- crilen007, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Even God himself cannot sink this website.
- broly1718, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Screw that. I hate band sites that are all in flash. Why go through the cost? A simple myspace page is just fine. Some band info, tour dates, and a few songs to listen to.
- pureliquidhw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9yeah, doubling his money in less than a year. what an idiot.
/sarcasm*
*I hope this wasn't necessary. - censorme, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Yeah, because everyone knows the secret to a successful band is to have a proper domain and professionally designed website. MySpace draws people to your site! It may not be as popular as it once was, but it is still a good way to promote your band. Remember when mp3.com was the place to be for bands? That site died down and people moved on. Propagating your band across the web on sites like MySpace is a good strategy. It's not like MySpace is the only game in town, it's just one egg in a bigger basket.
- plsailboy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13i deleted my myspace a month ago and have been happy ever since. that ***** sucks so much of your time.......
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11this is just some stupid blog post, why do you people digg this?
- Arkonnan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Yes, Myspace is dying because some random idiot blogger suspects that the "bubble" may some day burst. Call me when Netcraft confirms it.
- cakeeating, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10dugg out of hope.
- joshcook83, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10yeah, i've been done with myspace for awhile now. too many bands, not enough people. i think facebook is going to emerge as the new dominant social networking site. they are adding new features all the time, and it has virtually no spam problems.
- bdorry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6So in the end, he is straight anyway
- ashanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Buried.
- farther, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm surprised MySpace didn't die earlier, what with all the suicidal emos taking the plunge.
- Nougat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7"You've been mostly ***** all day."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This article doesn't explain how MySpace is dying. It's just sensationalist *****.
- nubnub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4MySpace looks like it was designed and coded by a monkey.
- Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Just like everything there is always an end. Nothing can last forever, and innevitably due to technological advances or what have you... sites will die, and they will be replaced by something better. Hopefully MySpace will die sooner than later, i'm sick of the hype.
- glguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@glock22ownr
You're right. Digg is a social *bookmarking* site. - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -14/+18You should be ashamed that you even touch that site still.
- infamousjre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4comments are just a glorified guestbook? makes me feel lame commenting on this story.
who cares if a band spends the bulk of their time promoting their myspace instead of their website? anyone remember AOL Keywords? practically every movie touted those instead of URL's and it didnt harm them. You've got to go with whats hot right now, the website will always be there, if its not getting attention, its not harming the bands reputation. - lostmongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@louis11
If the average myspace page is anything to go by the user base will indeed die out, but not from moving on. More from overdoses and suicides, methinks. - SpazticChips, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Well, it's like saying GM is dying, there so big that it will take a long time for them to truly die. As in, 1 year+ at least to say in MySpace is dying or not.
- spliffy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@BallisticCrayon
i agree,
i don't really think most band prioritize web standards and accessibility over the best free advertising they could possibly ask for (with no work or luck).
... i do though, i am all about web standards and i hate myspace something fierce, i have spent about 40 hours trying to get that pile of garbage code to look readable and just ok.
and honestly my sales have increased by 50% since i have spent more time on there. its not going anywhere soon, but i sure will be glad when there is an alternative with even close to the market saturation that myspace has. - Louis11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"..and it has virtually no spam problems."
With an emergence on top, trust me there will be spam problems. - zydehkim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What a coincidence, I just deleted my profile yesterday.
- distrbnce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3How is this a good article? There's not a shred of evidence.
Even the bit about average time spent on the site is explained by the fact that with millions more users than October 05, more people will just go on really quick to see if they have any messages.
In fact, that the author states that more and more bands are relying on MySpace alone is just a point that it will continue to survive.
I see no logic in this silly article. - smb3d, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7AlanKc: With that many users, it will go out the same way it came in. All it takes is a few people who are over it, and the rest will follow.
- poet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This is one of the lamest things I've ever seen on digg.
MySpace has more registered and active users than any other non-government internet site.
They are not going to die, in any way shape or form. For them, the more the merrier.
Furthermore, News Corp. is looking to sell MySpace at an outrageous gouge of $6 billion, at no less than 10 days ago. So if the owners spurt the value as $6bil, I doubt it's dying. - jtjenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My friend and I had a discussion about what if digg becomes a myspace, more people would come and submit stupid stories. That would not be good, I like digg the way it is.
- sobe86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4For ***** sake, this is just some random blogger's opinion of Myspace accompanied by the title 'Myspace is dying'. In what way is Myspace dying? He never actually says in the article. Lets have a look at the traffic rankings shall we?
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=www.myspace.com
Hmmm, not much dying that I can speak of.... So why did you people digg this exactly? -
