But hell, Metallica has been my favorite band since ages, they still kick ass.
I'm betting all the people that keep shouting "they suck" never saw one of their live shows.. I've seen a *lot* of bands live and only a handfull of them can match the power and energy Metallica unleashes on stage.

No one buys their records anymore, and not because of the proliferation of file-sharing but because theyhave become horrible. They have always sold out, their greed should not surprise anyone. Pretty much every band sells out, no reason to specifically target Metallica. Also, shut up about the file-sharing stuff from the Napster era. All bands feared the internet at this point, but Metallica was vocal about it. Times have changed, and they accept it now. I know it's heart breaking that your idols are only after money, but it's the truth.

The problem is they turned into the biggest douche bags and sellouts the world has ever seen, so I and many others simply want nothing to do with them anymore, and the old stuff that was actually good back in the day is just that, old.

I'm sick of how fashionable it has become to hate Metallica. Sure, Lars was a dick about filesharing, but that shouldn't be what pisses you off. if you're a Metallica fan, St. Anger should piss you off.
