- Gnarstache, on 10/08/2008, -2/+43Hey bad guy, how's it going? What are you doing with that gun okay? What's that all about? Say hi to your mother for me okay?
- jonshipman, on 10/09/2008, -0/+31I clicked on the link like fire. It was October, with the air so cool it makes you forget the heat of summer. As I waited for the video to load like the ashes of time forgotten, I awaited with a bitter taste in my mouth. Scorned by others, this trailer better not leave any empty promises. I took a breath, exhaled, and clicked play.
What a bitch, scorned again. - leerayIG88, on 10/08/2008, -7/+31This movie is going to be payne in the ass like all other video game movies.

- HyphySoul, on 10/09/2008, -1/+16He better do a lot of side jumping with guns in slow-mo and *****, that's honestly pretty much the only reason I played the game
But overall I really hope the movie falls into one of the good adaptations of videogames, if not...I blame Markie Mark - SuperVepr308, on 10/09/2008, -0/+15I know the premise seems shaky (can't say a whole lot as I never played the game) but Wahlberg seems to take average movies and make them better than they ought to be. Maybe he can pull this one out.
- Dundasbro, on 10/09/2008, -0/+11I'd go gay for them to make a decent version of this ***** game.
- YancyFryJr, on 10/09/2008, -2/+13I think it looks good. Expectations are pretty low so it wouldn't take much to impress me, though.
- Cartman89, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8I want to know how they got Max Payne to be PG13?
- Sabretou, on 10/09/2008, -0/+8You're killing me. Did you make that up yourself, or did you get some wino downstairs to come up with it? Don't answer that. A rhetorical question.
- rockon4life45, on 10/09/2008, -6/+14I'd go gay for Mark Wahlberg
- ketchupwfries, on 10/09/2008, -1/+9Judging by that comment, I'd say you already are.
- trentRez9, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8I loved the game, lets see what the film brings
- Exekutor, on 10/09/2008, -1/+8Not if Mila Kunis is around
- donkz, on 10/09/2008, -0/+6all he shoots is bathroom doors...
- elitespectre, on 10/09/2008, -2/+7At least Max Payne is a Maverick!
- UndeadZmobie, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5Actually, rumor has it that the Rockstar division behind The Warriors game is making Max Payne 3.
- mattlohkamp, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5I really want this to be a good movie.
- bdr529, on 10/09/2008, -0/+5They have decided to take forever making alan wake instead.
- medfreak, on 10/09/2008, -1/+6The real question is... why the ***** are they not making a Max Payne 3 yet?
- Schmidtopolis, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4When do they make the Kung Fu mod for it?
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -0/+4Silent Hill was a good movie in and of itself, especially with the budget it had. While not entirely true to the story of the games, its elements were some of the most faithful of all video game movies.
Max Payne... doubtful. - depro9, on 10/09/2008, -3/+7"now im gonna talk to a GOAT"
http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips ... - VcTrMASO, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3Sounds like the elections.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -1/+4Great! How about you release the whole film? :D
- AtomicTheory, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3I'm confused, I played all 3 games, and I don't remember any gargoyles. Has it just been so long since I played them or am I right? It looked like a gargoyle that pulled dude out the window at the end of the second clip.
...on a totally unrelated subject... Speaking of Gargoyles, that cartoon from a few years ago would make a cool movie. I think the show was just called "Gargoyles" and they came to life after their castle (which they were a part of) was relocated atop a skyscraper. - gingerboy, on 10/09/2008, -0/+3I did, Max Payne 2 is one of my favourite single player games of all time, seriously loved it.
I'm trying not to get too excited about this movie though, but I just cant help it!!
Please lord who I dont believe in - make this movie good!!! - funk1999, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Looks like reviews are starting to come out. Reviewers probably have played the game as they don't really appreciate the noir, but it seems like the film does finish off against Jack Lupino (played by a latino...guess the mafia is an equal opportunity employer) and ignores the whole government/woden story line.
I think there's going to be way to much occult crap/flying demons and it's going to miss the mark.
http://www.urbancinefile.com.au/home/view.asp?a=14 ... - sildude, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2mmyes, good times
- funk1999, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Has anyone seen any clips/pics/whatever that show the government lady or Alfred Woden? I am wondering if they are dropping that which was half the story.
- Dundasbro, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2Try playing the game, it isn't that easy to convert to a movie.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -0/+2was that... a demon at the end?
- dcoolidge, on 10/08/2008, -7/+9except resident evil...
- AtomicTheory, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1ginger, I'm assuming you're forgetting about the GBA Max Payne game. I'm not saying that it was good, but it was the third Max Payne game I was referring to.
- Gimjee, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1They changed the story line a lot. I could care less as long as they did it for the better. Looks promising.
- RaulMuadDib, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1This movie would be good without Chris O' Dongle
- crystl, on 10/13/2008, -0/+1err... the black guy dies?
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1I just saw the clips. This movie looks like it won't suck.
- L.Jenkins, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1Ludacris, ***** what!!
- IIDavidCoffinII, on 10/11/2008, -0/+1Wow, that's looks neat.
- gingerboy, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1Unless you want a wave of 'they just copied the matrix' comments - bullet time and the noire style were what this game was centered on - oh and a gritty story!
I wanna see some cool bullet time effects, like the effects in MP2 where the camera would spin round max whenever you manage to kill enough bad guys while in bullet time, or chucking a grenade into a room then applying bullet time as it goes off and pumping lead into flying bodies!! - SquigglyP, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1it's a movie about drug use and police corruption surrounding the murder, cover-up and subsequent vigilante investigation - by the titular protagonist - of his wife and child. I don't think there's going to be a hell of a lot of 'occult' stuff. There will probably be some in it, since there was a bit in the game, but the game was more or less an investigation into a drug syndicate and the movie looks to be no different. The movie is just visualizing the effects of the drug in a different way than the game did, because in the game you had to PLAY the effects of the drug. In a movie you can't do that, so you have to induce that sense of disorientation and awe in some other manner, and since there was already heavy use of mythological creatures in the game, that's the way they went.
The flying angels and demons are merely a visual representation of the effects of the drug, as the long-term users end up succumbing to hysteria and hallucinations.
I'd also tend to be wary of any 'reviews' that basically just summed up the trailer and then stamped a verdict on the film. The reviewers don't go into any depth at all in their short-paragraph worth of text each. "When we first meet Wahlberg's Max, he is freefalling in an ocean filled with dead bodies." Crap lines like that in a review give me pause. The opening bit in the trailer has Max floating in a body of water and the line "There's an army of bodies under this river".
How many times is the opening shot in a trailer the opening shot of a movie? Why did she use the word 'Ocean' and not 'River'? Surely she knows the difference? I'm not saying these guys aren't legit, but if they are legit, then they are possibly the ***** film critics I've ever read. I mean, they just paraphrase the trailer, talk about the actors (not even in a specific way, again, just saying who they play and a couple of adjectives) and then say the film sucked, but not why they came to those decisions. "The sum of the parts is more impressive than the whole and more's the pity." WTF does that even mean?
So yeah, these guys are either ***** their way through a couple of 'reviews' for a film they've never seen in order to get the 'jump' on the other reviewers, and by giving the film mediocre, unspecific reviews like this they can assume to remain 'safe' if anyone were to later call them on it, OR they've seen the film, but are the kind of hack film critics that know nothing about the craft but somehow managed to weasel their way into a job where they get to see free movies and then jerk themselves off in print. There are large press screenings where many many journalists see the film before hand. I find it interesting that the only two reviews I can find are from a couple of hacks working for the same site.
I'll wait until more reviews come out from some sources I trust. At least the reviews will be a bit more interesting to read than the drivel these two gave us, even if they are negative. - chkdg8, on 10/09/2008, -8/+9"FEEL IT! FEEL IT! FEEL THE VIBRATION!"
- elev, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1That's good, but I feel like I've reddit somewhere before.
- SteveMcQueen06, on 10/09/2008, -1/+2Dugg for "Say hi to your mother for me."
- CrimsonFlash, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1have you... played the games?
It's just the guy on a trip. He talks about demons like that throughout the game. They are only in the drug users minds. - Cenobite, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1"it's going to miss the mark."
*rimshot* - shadowspawn, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1I think the first clip was true to the graphics of the movie. I will see it, but it'll be like one big cut-scene to lead into MP2.
I wanted the guy from the first resident evil, the cop, to be Max Payne to be honest. - OPR8R, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1By taking out everything that would've made the movie better than just OK, I'm guessing...
