- myobie, on 10/17/2007, -7/+293Every interview I have seen Mason in, he is very intelligent and well spoken.
- chaos217, on 10/12/2007, -10/+206That and he is always so disarming in the way he speaks; the fact that he kept O'Reily in check long enough to finish sentences was amazing.
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+146I don't listen to his music, but every time I see an interview with him I usually end up agreeing with him. Also, this is the first time I have ever seen O'Reily being polite to someone who disagreed with him. He didn't even accuse him of treason or say that he is destroying America.
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+118this is probably the best cip of the factor ever.
manson doesn't back down on any issue, he doesn't have any canned answeres ready (you can observe him thinking through everything he responds with).
in fact, his answers make bill almost look like he is a robot -- bill has a set of questions he is ready to ask and asks them in order, expecting certain responses. when manson gives him very decent responses that can't really be shot down, bill's line of questioning seems disconnected. - gronne, on 10/12/2007, -7/+91He should've pointed to out Bill that his own book "Those Who Tresspass" is full of profanity and sexually explicit scenes. Kind of the pot calling the kettle black.
- toastgodsupreme, on 10/12/2007, -7/+88I would love to see more interviews with him. I saw him speak on Bowling for Columbine and I was just in awe.
- mapkinase, on 10/12/2007, -4/+77No it does. Behaving scandalously on the show brings popularity, behaving intelligently on the TALK show brings popularity.
- durazine, on 10/12/2007, -10/+77That Marilyn is just so well spoken, what a nice boy...just so well spoken.
- gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -7/+71He and colbert could exchange DnD warstories. I believe his best character was a cleric and steve's was a paladin.
- tdogg241, on 10/12/2007, -4/+67As much as I don't care for his music, I really like Marilyn Manson for how articulate and well-spoken he is. I'll have to check this video out when I get home.
- cthulhu, on 10/12/2007, -16/+68theblooms: "If he was really a nut-job, he wouldn't have stratospheric ratings."
He has good ratings for the same reason Rush has good ratings, they feed into that paranoia, anger and persecution complex so inherent in their listeners. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51I thought is was a very good interview on both sides. Manson was very well spoken while O'Reilly got his point accross about the potential negative impact of dark lyrics and imagry on kids. Both sides showed respect and understanding. Very good.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47"Since when do children read "Those Who Tresspass"?!"
Hey, at least manson albums come with a "Parental Advisory" label on 'em.
No warning on O'Reilly's book.
And I promise you it's been read by at least a few minors. Like the Junior Republicans. They're probably more impressionable than some Manson fans :p - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+47O'Reilly was extremely polite to him. It must have been his off day or maybe he was scared.
- warmonger48, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36He's smart as hell. By every "stupid" thing he does he gets more attention and more records sell. That's like the "Hot Coffee" mod for GTA, after they made a big stink about it sales skyrocketed....any publicity is good publicity.
- Idolwild, on 10/12/2007, -12/+45Your use of the word "stupid" to describe his behavior betrays your moral and political proclivities to object to his actions.
He is in the business of shock, nothing more. Be it for money or some deeper philosophical reason of his, it is, as they say, show business. - ThePict, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36You must have just gotten a shiny new internet, eh?
- willytate, on 10/12/2007, -6/+35Its all about profitability...look at Mason and Eminem, the more controversial their shows are...the bigger their bankroll.
- Nesh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28That's because he's retired from the music industry
- richsipe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Great interview I thought with points given intelligently on both sides.
Then there is the YouTube comments ... I think I lost 5 IQ points just reading the first page. - fustanella, on 10/12/2007, -5/+30Smart, goth, Dita von Teese for a bride - what's not to like?
- Tweidle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26It sure is, ask Mel Gibson.
- ajtait, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24He is in the middle of switching mediums. Like a true artist he is yet again reinventing himself by leaving music and working in cinema. Right now, he is hard at work on a movie titled Phantasmagoria. It is due out by winter of this year.
- oddmanout, on 10/12/2007, -10/+29he was scared.
actually MM really kept his cool, alot of BO shows, the people end up screaming and yelling, this was the calmest interview i've seen. - andrewr, on 10/12/2007, -22/+40He does act with great intelligence on camera, yet off camera at his concerts he does the unthinkably stupid and ends up getting arrested.... it doesn't add up.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I'm an admitted O'Reilly fan. That said, I was very impressed with Mr. Manson in this interview. He reminded me of the smart skater dudes in high school.
Let's face it, Manson is marketing a brand that happens to be himself -- and he's quite good. I just can't stand his music. - wiredforpower, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19Manson is a smart man. Stop getting upset over music you're not forced to listen to or watch. There are certain things parents should control, and if this is a problem, then maybe the parents are to blame from bringing out this agression in their children. In America, we're allowed to say almost anything we want, as long as its not slandering. I, myself, am a manson fan. I loved what he did, and who he was. I could always turn the TV off, turn off the music and stop. It was my option, and I chose to listen to him.
- boozedrinker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Despite what was said in the interview, I think that both parties have no animosity towards eachother, and alot of respect was shown on both ends. Regardless of what ideals either stands for, this goes to show you that opposing viewpoints CAN be spoken to two individuals in a respectful manner. Lay down the guns and knives people - respect other people's viewpoints.
- superstewy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Everyone should go read Manson autobiography, 'The Long Hard Road Out of Hell'. It's really good.

I've never seen MM in an interview and after seeing this one have a far better opinion of him. I'm no O'Reilley lover but I've got to give the guy credit for inviting many different people with positions contrary to his own on the show to speak their piece. He asked decent questions and let MM answer them fully. What's wrong with that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+25People in the Boonies want to be placated by mouth pieces like O' Reilly and Limbaugh. Remember kids, If a lot of people believe it. It must be true.
- aks123, on 10/12/2007, -7/+19Yeah, yeah, Marilyn Manson is intelligent. But O'Reily (although I hate him very much) also brings up a good point -- a lot of kids are not intelligent enough to interpret Manson's music they way Manson wants it to be interpreted.
- krische, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I just think we should more concerned about the source of the problem (uncaring parents).
- thegcinfo, on 10/12/2007, -11/+23Bill O'Reilly looks horrified. That was some funny stuff. And he is so damn funny when he says blame Richard Simmons if someone is gay LOL LOL!
- nandes, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15In all honesty, out of any O'Reilly interview I've ever seen, this was by far the best in terms of being a discussion.
Watching Bill makes me cringe, but this didn't. - bonesaw, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15Are you saying that you can't see why he would think that MM portrays a bad message to impressionable children? I don't necessarily like MM's music, but I do listen to Black Metal, and I can see how I wouldn't want my kids (10, 13) to listen to it.....Life is hard when you're a kid and trying to make an identity for yourself.... Sometimes it's hard to discern the bad infleuence from just someone being expressive.
Just because BO is concerned for kids doesn't mean that he wants everybody to be a robot - fakerjohn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+17"I'm not sure how many of you watch The Factor regularly, (few I assume) but the vast majority of Bill Reilly's interviews ARE like this.He treats his guests in exactly the same manner that they treat him."
TheBlooms, that is completely false and ridiculous. Out of spite, I watch A LOT of O'Reilly and listen to 11 minutes of obscene bloviating on the Radio Factor every day and I heartily disagree. Bill has three specific modes of operation:
1. Make the conservative agenda look acceptable by agreeing with conservatives often and scolding them occassionally.
2. Make the liberal agenda look deranged at all times.
3. Twisting facts to create fights over polarizing issues (pedophilia, homosexuality, abortion, 911) so that he can shout his way to moral authority
The man has a WILD ego. Until the fiasco with the girl that he allegedly went perv-o after ("the falafel incident" . . . which he settled out of court, hint, hint) Bill was much more aggressive. Those were the hay days. Since then he has been curbed a little but there were many times when he pretty-much needlessly told people (good, intelligent, innocent and righteous people) to "SHUT UP".
My favorite bit from you supporters of O'Reilly is the part where you say that he's "not an anchor" as if that makes it better to be a propagandist. It's like you're saying that it's cool that he tricks stupid people who can't tell the difference between a misleading talking head an official news source.
Props to the well-spoken Marilyn Manson who played his cards right and got out of the interview without aiding in his own character assassination. - hotpepper, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Why wouldn't MM be well spoken?
- catchthemice, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18I really disagree with O'Reilly when he said that "At no time in the history of our country have so many corrupting influences been brought before our children", that's not exactly what he said, but that was his general idea. I just read an article a few months ago in Wired about how every generation seems to think that about media, entertainment and their children. First it was literature, then radio and music, then TV, now videogames. There will always be those who think parts of society are reaching out and trying to mess up children, but ultimately it's the parents responsibility to make sure that kids have a firm grasp on what is art, or fantasy, or entertainment...
I don't like O'Reilly, but he managed not to be a total douche in the interview... but that one quote just shows how skewed his viewpoint really is. Ahhh, the no spin zone. - BufordT, on 10/12/2007, -7/+16If you respect the O'Reilly, he will respect you. As is most often the case, if you don't explode at him, and constantly ignore the fact that he is speaking and try to talk over him, he will treat you with dignity and let you get your two cents in.
- iSEPIC, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14QUOTE

ohhh just like CNN, MSNBC, FOX, CBS and all of 'em eh? - robche, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11i used to be so judgemental on manson, even though I had never heard his music. These days, after seeing this interview, and the one in bowling for columbine, I am in awe, at how smart he is, and respect him so much more.
Very good interview, (never thought I would say that for a BO show) - TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Bill was blaming the parents.
- TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"At no time in the history of our country have so many corrupting influences been brought before our children"
Reallly?! What was on TV 30 years ago? Compare that today. Also, compare family culture from back then to today. Now, welcome back to reality. - krische, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"Now remember, there are alot of kids out there who have parents that don't care about them."
~ Bill O'Reily - TubaTechno, on 10/12/2007, -13/+20"He should've pointed to out Bill that his own book "Those Who Tresspass" is full of profanity and sexually explicit scenes. Kind of the pot calling the kettle black."
Since when do children read "Those Who Tresspass"?! - krische, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8If you want to watch an interview like that then check this out.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F272-2A2FDo - maninblac1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Sadly, it's so true.
- maninblac1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Manson is the coolest "nerd" in existance, if you've ever watched some of his personal interviews, or "making of his music" he is so insightful as to what music really is, he creates it from such an analytical perspective, he knows what he wants to portray and accomplishes it with lazer like precision, case and point, the Resident Evil soundtrack. To think of him as a goth freak, just doesn't portray his character, he may not be a techno geek, but his intelligence screams geekdom. He isn't something you see in that genre, it's truly something unique.
- birch25, on 10/12/2007, -11/+18as much as i dislike manson's music and some of his ideas, i have to admit he seems to be very intelligent. o'reily is, well, quite the opposite.
