- RetardoCrisp, on 01/08/2008, -0/+10Aw this is so limp. How could anyone who listens to Marley steal all his messages? Rastafarians speak out against; poverty, oppression and inequality.....not just religious ideas but global problems & societal stigmas. Obviously they were not fans but rather greed mongers. Sad news tis mon...dem bomboclots!

- terracottapai, on 01/08/2008, -0/+8This is pretty common.
My favorite band (The Doors) has almost no outtakes from their first few albums, and only some from their later albums, despite dozens of takes for each song.
The reasons?
Back in the day, the label used to cut the tape off of the reels to salvage the reels. Seriously. For $5 reels.
Also, record labels and radio stations have notoriously open archives, in that, employees steal ***** constantly.
Unfortunate, but not uncommon in the least. - p0ss, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6a chronic dope without any sens
- breadbin, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6Wrong genre? Please come back after you've looked up who originally wrote and recorded the song.
Not that I'm defending the original poster's pun. Someone should be shot. - Barbarino, on 01/08/2008, -0/+6I bet it was those 3 little birds....
- lsloany, on 01/08/2008, -0/+5Did you move to a different drug or is that refer-ing to the smell?

- kerrickter, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Man it was the devil that stole his music, the devil stole bob's word from us all and damn the devil for it.
- thcobbs, on 01/08/2008, -4/+7Not only are you in the wrong genre, but you also butchered a great song! (Also, save those comments for stories about cocaine)
I award you -1 diggs, and may god have mercy on your soul... - IanPatterson, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3NNNOOOOOOO
- T8erT0T, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3The ghost of Marcus Garvey took them.
- Chineyz, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Damn as an actual Jamaican can everyone please stop saying "MON' the word is Man.. as in "Hey Man, where you deh"(hey where are you). Simple english mix in a local dialect called Patois(Patwa). Other than that though, Jamaica is a crime filled nation. with a corrupt government and deplorable poverty. So there is nothing surprising about this incident. I love the land of my fam, but maybe these high profile events can bring enough exposure to the problems of Jamaica to finally elicit change. In 2005 from Jan-May alone Jamaica had 722 murders. Find that on the news.

The music library which was under the watch of the National Archives appears to have been stripped of 80 per cent of its content. It is suspected that the items were removed over the period 2004 to 2007.
Between November 2005 and November 2007 the premises fell under the control of Belgian firm Besix which was contracted to work on the nearby transport centre - floridiot2, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Backup devices are useless!
- OwdenBowden, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2It very well could be (1) the Ghosts of Bob and Peter (2) the Rebells of Jamaica. (3) a Serious collector or (4) Family members. But if you are going to steel Masters then you usually are in or connected to the recording Business and have a Reel player. So my money is on (3) or (4).
- spyd3rweb, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Get RAID 10 for Bob Marley please.
- luuneetoon, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2Try Piratebay. I think they might have a copy.
- megaloid, on 01/08/2008, -1/+3no masters, no cry.

- toxicityj, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1unless it was laid to rest with a bag of weed by its side, I don't think that's true.

- SiNN4R, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2Yeah they're both totally different. Except that you're listening to the music without having paid the artist. Beyond that though completely different.
- 3rdragon, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1yeah shouldn't they expect the best of their collection to be the most likely stolen.....Absurd. They deserve to lose ever cent c'mon who in their collection is better than Peter Tosh or Bob Marley?!!!!! If that wasn't insured more than J-Los legs then they're morons.
Yes this is disgracefull and sad but have some common sense...I know it's not that common, but we've all heard it before. - voodoochild461, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1That's on the JBC's plate, whoever took them is an idiot, L2 bit torrent.
- johnpaul191, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1the brief article does say the music "walked" from the archive. i have a feeling that means they think it slowly disappeared over the years, as opposed to one massive haul. it may even be a lot of people grabbing reels to listen to at home or something.
to be honest, if those are reel to reel recordings from the 70s, they should have been digitally archived already. magnetic tape does not last. hell, dig up some old camcorder tapes from the 90s and you'll see many of them are going to crap. that's not archive quality studio tape, but it's still plastic with magnetic media on it. i have had plenty of DATs fail me. anyway, hopefully they will work on backing up everything else, and other places will do the same. - Jenadae, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1do dododo dooooo do doodoo
- adikt, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1ebay
- p0ss, on 01/08/2008, -2/+3Perhaps you should look up the definitions of "copying" and "stealing". You may well notice there is a slight difference between them. In this case, its kinda like the difference between 10,000 seeds and 0 seeds. you see the difference there?
- sonia5880, on 06/09/2008, -0/+1LOL...Nice Comment!
- atb12688, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1Somehow i doubt the Jamaican Government or any Government will spend any time trying to get these back. Only the private sector could do this.
- funkspiel, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1***** happens in JA.
- greenriver572, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1because it was probably some stoned white kid who thinks he relates to black culture with his here-say knowledge of reggae and blunt smoking, despite his father buying him his clothes, cars, paying his rent, and never working for anything a day in his life.
- MLisa, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2F*** RP and you Diggers that keep putting his name on this site in places WHERE IT DOES NOT BELONG!
