- kp998, on 01/28/2009, -1/+43Dig a little deeper into Frank Zappa and you might be surprised. He was far more complex than the above attempts at humor would lead one to believe.
- DoktorRob, on 01/28/2009, -8/+35Is that a REAL statue? I mean is that a Lithuanian statue or is that a Sears statue?
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+26YES!
Frank Zappa has to be probably the best satirist of the later 20th century. Songs such as Teenage Wind, Dumb All Over and Bobby Brown Goes Down are masterpieces in satire. It's a pity not many other British 16 year olds have even heard of Frank Zappa :( - chthonical, on 01/29/2009, -0/+21Well, at least now we have a backup plan if something happens to The Statue of Liberty.
- Howtolitho101, on 01/29/2009, -1/+21Dugg it just cus I'm lithuanian
- jawshoeuh, on 01/29/2009, -0/+16What, he can't be complex and humorous? I don't think those were attempts at humor, those songs made me laugh my ass off and the music was, as always with Frank, incredible.
- lynchjos, on 01/29/2009, -0/+14Frank Zappa is to Lituania
as
David Hasselhoff is to Germany - LargeStack, on 01/29/2009, -0/+13He fought for lots of the rights we hope to keep today.
Freedom of expression for example.
Below is a video of him on Cross Fire

Crossfire on censorship, with Zappa. - WordsnCollision, on 01/28/2009, -3/+14A better memorial might've been a giant pair of zircon-encrusted tweezers. Wait a minute, lemme sterilize them...
- mrgeekguy, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11 Male voice: Suzy?
Female voice: Yes?
Male voice: Suzy Creamcheese?
Female voice: Yes?
Male voice: This is the voice of your conscience baby ... uh, I just want to check one thing out with you ... you don't mind, do ya?
Female voice: What?
Male voice: Suzy Creamcheese, honey, what's got into you? - russ3, on 01/29/2009, -0/+11Frank zappa started my jewish-lady fever.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -1/+9Dugg for reference to "Camarillo Brillo".
- rancemo, on 01/28/2009, -1/+9Are you using the chicken to measure it?
- asgardshill, on 01/29/2009, -1/+9But is it moving to Montana soon?
- PabloIV, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7Who knew Lithuanians were this weird and quirky.
Also, Zappa rocks! - drmobutu, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7Zappa's lyrics are silly, on purpose, though. It's part of his critical/satirical approach to music, and the particular idiom within which he operated. Which is to say, most rock lyrics & vocals are pretty silly...
Don't hate on me, for over-intellectualizing, here...I'm the guy who un-buried the comment, above... - MCA2142, on 01/28/2009, -1/+8Don't under any circumstances... Eat yellow snow.
- mikehsu1, on 01/29/2009, -0/+7I am the Central Scrutinizer.
- jmahnn, on 01/28/2009, -0/+6It's not even a year old.
Holy *****! Have you seen some of the other old articles on Digg?! /s - Dingadang, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Keep it greasy Lithuania.
- maz2331, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6And others still strike home today...
"Republicans is fine if you're a multi-millionaire,
Democrats is fair if all you own is what you wear,
Neither of them's really right 'cause neither of them care,
About that Hot Plate Heaven,
Because they ain't been there."
Or just listen to Joe's Garage some day. It's the best work deriding police-states I've heard. - RegalBegal, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6No man, it was a stupid looking white sort of male person's conservative kind of middle-of-the-road statue.
Zappa, yesssss. - Sneezyx, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Yes, to become a mennil toss flycoon.
- loupanic, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5So this is what's new in Baltimore.
- inactive, on 01/28/2009, -0/+5"...girls you can be an ***** too."
- beasty_dave_Mk2, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6Im 33 and didnt like zappa or his music whilst growing up ( various popish-grunge type music filled my shelves) but when I watched his interview(s) on crossfire on the web several years ago I turned into a huge fan, not so much his music, but of him.
first b&w one that leads to all his others;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDDIiIOFE_Q - jcdickerson, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5We miss you Frank.
- Alael, on 01/30/2009, -0/+5And Estonia recently gave Robert Fripp a medal in response to his 2006 soundscapes tour. These Baltic countries have good taste in music!
- LargeStack, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5I just listened to the Cross Fire interview again. This man could certainly hold his own.
I like the fact they are caught of guard by his intellect.
Kind of like Dee Snider when he went before Congress regarding the same issues. - inactive, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5Rubs it, rubs it in a circular motion hithero unknown to these lands!
- apothekari, on 01/29/2009, -0/+5"Don't fool yourself girl, ......S'goin right up your poop chute"

- swgc5, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4Nanook!
- hookman, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4Zappa, hon!
- Phatlip012, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4In case you guys were wondering, Zappa is from Baltimore. As am myself. :)
- WiretapStudios, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4Lets make the water (in the harbor) turn black!
I head up to Baltimore once or twice a year, looking forward to make a stop just to see the statue. It seems like a weird enough reason. - pardonmedoug, on 01/29/2009, -1/+5A) Grammar and proofreading are your friends when attempting to communicate in writing.
B) Zappa's children's names is probably one of the most superficial things about the man to be interested in, and he would have called you out for being superficial. He can't, so I am instead. - maz2331, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3But you will need zircon-encrusted tweezers to move it with....
- magamiako, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3On behalf of Baltimore, thank you Lithuania. However, I'd prefer you would send some of your women.
*Carries it around as bullet proof armor* - maz2331, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3This is the Central Scruitinizer. It is my responsibility to enforce all of the laws that haven't been passed yet.
Damn - that explains Bush! He listened to Joe's Garage while drunk one time.... - WiretapStudios, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3I'm going to raise me up a crop of...dental floss.
- PhilliesBlunt, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3Cool.
Now, where's our Omar statue? - jrussmlr, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3What do I have to do to get one of these
- Ovrthtp, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3It looks like a fairly decent statue to me, are you saying you wouldn't accept it?
- Dingadang, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3Word.
- FordSVT1, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3No doubt you say that every time you come across something you don't know. Must be a bit scary living in a world you don't understand! O.O
