- cheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15i'm sticking with pandora, but this is an interesting idea
- tallin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I second Pandora. I use it at school all the time. Driving to and from school and walking to and from class: Zen Micro. Sitting at a library computer: Pandora.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3intresting concept for the mere fact that it would seem like it would be hard for anyone to sue for copyright infrigment for the fact that they dont host anything, they merely provide a player for user to do what they want with. It would be as if you went on google to search for MP3's already in exsistence stored in directories and just played them. A great loophole.
- vuzman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pandora also works without installing anything...
- blackwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3www.last.fm is much much better...
- adminmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2or you could just set up a server at your house and stream the tunes from there...
- jbond03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i like radioblogclub.com
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ampache is nicer if you have apache installed.
http://www.ampache.org/ - Rha7dotCom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I dunno if i've been living under a rock, but just knew (from your commentsa above) about pandora, It's awesome.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2THANKS!
Now I have a few more sites to block in websense
/runs off doing evil sysadmin laugh - fkuall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good find.
it seems you could host songs off your harddrive and use this player to stream them, but its cool you can just listen to such a wide range of songs, i wonder what different formats i supports.
i know its still in beta, but it seems weird that when a song is finished playing, it starts from the begining of the song, instead of going to the next track - dimplemonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1slammed right now thank to the diggnation army!
- computerdan000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah. I've been using Orb for almost two years and it's much better than this. You can stream recorded TV and Video Podcasts like TWiT or Diggnation.
- gadgetsguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to agree with TheReport
Providing a service to merely LOCATE music files already online is not a crime.
iTunes might have a leg to stand on to pursue a GUI copy ... but still we could say all grey plain interfaces look like iTunes ... another very "grey" area - Predicament, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Must have been REAL easy for him to find.
Nice site you own there, floydprice.
You'd think after submitting it to Digg unsuccessfully a month ago you'd find an alternate way to get it on the front page, when it's submitted by someone else who actually discovered it. - thefilmguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pandora, Portable Playlist. I'm not very still not very impressed. Wish Apple could make a portable app version of iTunes and install on iPod shuffles, or make it where the iPod shuffle wouldn't need iTunes to transfer music. Just drag and drop, MP3's and other music.
- ronin9, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, this is a good idea. Well executed too. 3pm [ http://derek.a.coleman.googlepages.com/3pm ] would make a good complement to this service. I'll digg it.
- TransmitThis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Do ues Pandora but like the way this works even better
very nice and easy to use - h4lfl1ng, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is actually very awesome. I've found lots of interesting stuff I would never find just surfing. Totally awesome. Plus its so fast, and good use of ajax (I know everyone is tired of it, but as a developer..).
- yodinosaur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i use hype.non-standard.net :]
- JohnnySoftware, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gee, could their possibly be any problems if 120 employees at a small company all start streaming different songs from the Internet to their songs from 9 am to 5 pm every day?
I am just kind of wondering how that will impact browser performance, email going in and out, automatic updates, and you know - work?
Try telling the CFO it is "free" then. - CandySnatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice. Definitely Digg-worthy!
- Charlotte_Web, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A quick search brings up a ton of Beatles music.
Yeah, this site is gonna get shut down. Don't get too attached to it. :-P - blackwood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1... and free... and 100% legal
http://www.last.fm/help/faq.php#193 - JAFFA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well this may not be everyones cup of tea - but i like it! Its good for me as i cant install anything at work as i dont have any admin rights to my machines so i have to rely on web based content. It has enough kinda stuff that i enjoy to make it onto my works bookmarks and it gets a DiGG from me too!
Nice find! - kunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it'll probably suck because its too convenient to use, theres gotta be some kind of catch
- mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Since when did Neet start offering music? Shouldn't they just stick with hair removal?
- wiredclimber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does what I need it to. I'll have to check out Pandora and last.fm. I (and I think a lot of other people) learn many new things from the digg comments
- computerbynar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I use radioblogclub.com
- peregrine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1umm this is okay but theres no privacy policy soooo they could just give the riaa your entire list of music from your hd and then your IP and boom. Fines.
Frankly I don't like its look and Pandora is legal, the people are nice, and it works much better.
~ - Mike89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No it's not, you can add any URLs. It's great, I just put a hidden folder on my webserver and use the dir listing.
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I prefer pandora to this, but it's also meant to be different. This is using only podcasts.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Most popular podcasts and tracks right now: Digg Nation. Gee-I wonder how that happened...

Bah-only has the more popular stuff. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also check out: www.accuradio.com
- murrolems, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Slimserver doesn't provide any sort of client. The benefit of this app is that no client installation is required. I'm able to connect to my slimserver with this app.
- JoeWall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i love the fact that pandora lets me discover new music that suits my tastes. i stopped listening to my mp3s (except when i want to listen to old or "exotic" songs)
- slapout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some people work in places where pandora is blocked.
- murrolems, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*****
- benadamson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just one problem here... I'm allowed to install all the software I want, but streaming media is off limits hahaha.
Sorry, no digg. - nuXan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Never seen anything quite like this. Podcasts I tested were very clear! But unfortunately all this site has is old podcasts, nothing new.
- el_taco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No privacy policy.. no terms/conditions... No digg.
- fuzzboxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1SlimServer can do this with your own music collection and podcasts and with a much better interface. No digg.
- Leech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so, what about webjay.org? is pretty better than it.. and it's more social...
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2lol, I like how he's moaning in his blog about the Digg effect when it was he himself who submitted it to Digg in the first place: http://www.portableplaylist.com/blog/
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1UBERHAWT props++;
- musicismylife, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hmmm, looks a little like iTunes?? good effort though
- funkytaco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm taking a different approach to the same thing. Wow, I am impressed. One main difference is I'm working on video support.
My podcasting site is in beta.
http://www.avidbeauty.com/ - contxt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is a great idea but it doesn't work for me, won't play any of the stuff I add
- adnauseam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hmmm.....doesnt work for me. wont play anythin...wonder why...guess ill try it at home.
- kstagg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow. I'm liking this it. I'm liking this a lot. Big full-on Digg for this Pandora. Many thanks.
