- misterhardcore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+106I own 37 different cd's by Nine Inch Nails, been to 5 concerts, wasted countless dollars on t-shirts. This is what a real artist does for the fans. RIAA = *****
- mackchacky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+68Absolutely ***** great! I can't help but wonder if this is a big old ***** You to the RIAA for slapping down fan sites hosting the leaks.
- Erowid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+45Link to the player for the "damn near retarted" people of the world :P
http://yearzero.nin-thespiral.com/FLJoi4gjw2f/player.html - alcimedes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40It requires you to sign up, but they send an opt-in e-mail. They expressly say that if you don't want any more info from them just delete the message and they won't add you to their mailing list. First opt-in I've seen in ages.
- coreypsu33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38WOW WOW WOW sounds great. I wonder when the RIAA is going to send him a DMCA about his own site.
- russizm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32and I quote:
"It's not just music.
It's probably too long, but it felt like the right thing to do to paint the complete picture.
It will sound different after a few listens.
You can think about it and it will reveal more than you were expecting.
You can dance to a lot of it.
You can ***** to a lot of it (maybe all of it depending on what you're into)" - alcimedes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Trent, you are the man.
My one hope in all of this is that the RIAA will try to sue Trent to protect Trent from Trent and his fans. In order to justify suing their own client they'll have to shove their heads so far up their asses looking for an excuse that they'll suffocate and die. - drastick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+33Link to stream is in the top right corner of the page.
Sounds better than anything else that has been released so far. - gspederson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32This old fart loves it. I've been digging on NIN ever since Pretty Hate Machine came out when I was in college.
- nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -2/+32And this is why Nine Inch Nails will always be my favorite band.
Always innovating, always challenging, always good to the fans.
NIN FTW. - iamrock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29I haven't purchased a CD in many years. Too many times, they only had one or two good songs and I couldn't justify spending $15 for that. This however, is how the music industry should be... and brought me out of retirement. I just pre-ordered a CD for the first time.
I hope the RIAA learns a lesson from this (and self-destructs shorty thereafter). - BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -2/+30Trent Reznor is, survey says..... Pretty bitchin.
- vostek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28theres a reason why its called industrial music. Speaking of which, a lot of the beats remind me of early Industrial, like Skinny Puppy's "Mind: the Perpetual Intercourse" and others.
- willistg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26they did the same thing for "with teeth" but unlike that time, I don't have to go to myspace to listen to it. Thanks TRENT!!!
- Teej, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26"mp3 quality". Very descriptive.
- fesst, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23go trent!!!
- awol21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Hell yes, I'm pre-ordering NOW.
- LACHRYMIST, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22With Teeth was a great album after a couple listens...
But this album is much better - h00ligan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19i dunno why you guys modded him down for that.. ROB SHERIDAN said that was why they put it up. They were surprised it took so long to leak and had this ready for when it did - there's not much to disagree with when the damn band/producer/etc says it
- drastick, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Maybe partially because of that but its probably because a rip got released last night.
- tibisor, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19my highlight would be 'capital G'
rumor has it it's going to be the next single... - dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Don't know how these got here: http://pub.realm304.com/nin/
Better download them now before they disappear. - orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Too bad not every music artist does this when they get ready to release a new album. He actually allows streaming of the entire album in its entirety, not just on or two 30 second sample *****.
- HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Dear Trent Reznor,
Please remove the streams of your forthcoming album, Year Zero, from your site.
Failure to do so will result in my lawyers contacting yours.
Regards,
Trent Reznor - NivMizzet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15It's amazing how many NIN fans like so many different aspects but none of them seem to agree which songs are good and bad. That's why Trent really wins, his songs are all catered to different tastes, and not everyone like everything.
Now stop complaining. - acroyear2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14"…Just because technology exists where you can duplicate something, that doesn’t give you the right to do it. There’s nothing wrong with giving some tracks away or bits of stuff that’s fine. But it’s not everybody’s right. Once I record something, it’s not public domain to give it away freely. So I stand behind Dr. Dre and Metallica and support them. And that’s not trying to be the outdated musician who is trying to ‘stop technology. I love technology. Technology is here to stay…"

It's not "everybody's right"... unless he makes it official. Glad he did. - bultaco370, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I think there are some different versions of the albums between the UK and the US... I like the sound of this new album, I'll definitely buy.
- kriminalintent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14One of the best cd album covers... To the point and looks great doing it.

Really? Construction workers putting on a concert. Cool.
"Nine Inch Nails may have industrial music influences, but certainly are not industrial music. "
Genre Nazi. - cmirza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Ebeniz, DualDisc is crappy. From Denon's DualDisc FAQ:
"Since the audio side of the DualDisc does not meet the Compact Disc Digital Audio specifications found in the industry “Redbook Standard”, the data constituting the audio portion of the disc may not be read by some CD players/changers and recorders, DVD players/changers, universal players and Super Audio CD players."
Since DualDisc is a DVD and a CD sandwiched together, its thicker than a standard CD and won't be read by many CD players. For instance, my Alpine slot loading cd player in my car won't play DualDisc, and when I try to ripping DualDisc on many CD/DVD drives is very slow. I'm glad Trent Reznor chose to release this album on media that meets industry STANDARDS instead of deviating from them. - dragazis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13No Vessel?! That song is ridiculously good in a heavy, old NIN manner.
- SgtCrispy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13/me giggles with glee!
- PittPanthersFan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I love all of the songs, but the highlights definitely are:
The Good Soldier
Me, I'm Not
God Given
The Greater Good
The Great Destroyer
Another Version of the Truth
In This Twilight
Zero Sum
Seems like a lot of highlights, but there really are that many. It's a 16-track album. - SolipsismX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12The album starts off all right, but about halfway through it crosses over to amazing. I was actually thinking it was going to be worse than With Teeth, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I'll have to give it some time, but I don't think it's as good as The Fragile and it's certainly not going to dethrone The Downward Spiral. With time, I might like it more than Pretty Hate Machine or Broken though
- alexpigment, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I have to admit, while I think the music hasn't been that great since The Fragile, NIN have definitely stepped up their marketing game this time around. The USB drives in the bathrooms of the venues, the trailers, the random images popping up around the net, the fan remix thing (BEFORE the album this time). Now this? A lot of bands do the streaming album thing, but the thing they don't get is that if it's leaked before the streaming is available, people will be like "no, i've got the mp3. why stream it?". Then they're less likely to buy the album because they have a good copy on their hard drive. Now if you put the streaming version out, it kinda seems like you're wasting time downloading and spreading it around when the thing does leak on a grand scale... you can stream it just as easily; thus making it more likely that someone will buy an album (I know that logically it doesn't make much sense, but psychologically it's huge). Also, when's the last time a band has gotten this many front page dugg stories within the span of a month or two?
- tast01, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13this is a very "groovy" nin album
- hollowex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12He became the fonz on
Me, I'm Not - Omadhaun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Use this link if you don't want to sign up but still want to hear the album: http://yearzero.nin-thespiral.com/FLJoi4gjw2f/player.html?reg=no
- fletcher008, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11The Fragile is one of the most underrated NIN albums there is. That being said, Year Zero might end up being in the running for many of the "best of 2007" lists. This will be the year Trent breaks through again.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14I think iTunes and EMI dropping DRM is more significant.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Tons of good music out there, stop listening to the radio.
Good for you for buying an album after previewing it though. More people should learn from you. - omega1045, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Talk about embracing the Internets.
- vostek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11mm....no, great destroyer is one of the more colorful tracks on the album...IMO.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Amazing. Trent does something great buy putting the ENTIRE ALBUM up for everyone to listen to, and people still find a way to complain about it.
He already GAVE away 5 songs from the album during the whole viral marketing deal. Do you think he's oblivious to the fact that people will download the rest of the album too? I'm pretty sure the idea here is that people who actually care about the artist and are impressed by both the quality of his work and his generosity will want to support NIN by buying the album. - gspederson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Cool, on the back cover is a phone number (866-445-6580) I called it and it is a recording claiming to be the US Dept of Morality....cool marketing :)
- HunterTV, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Trent's getting my money for this one (well he always has but nevermind), I humbly suggest everyone who likes it follows suit.
Support all the long nights he spent making something you would like. - LabThug, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"last time I checked (right now) there were only 31 cd's that have been released"
This number represents Trent's releases. There are several bootlegs out there. - theokandroid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9If youve seen the album artwork this seems like one of the first physical albums ill own, I was gonna buy it on iTunes but i think i have to actually own it.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12This is not industrial, it's electronica.
- Avengelist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8See, now when someone decides to say "***** it, I'm doing what I want", I can have respect for that, regardless of who it is. I'd love to hear what Britney's whacked out brain would produce now... but that's another song for another day.
