- TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm really liking this. I have a 60 gig iPod that needs filled up. There are some good bands on here and I can try some new genres without spending money.
- slicedoranges, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Or you can stick one to the RIAA like everyone else
- Charron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4For your information:
All downloads on this site seem to be handled via BitTorrent or eMule. So, if you can't handle those (port blocking or no software or whatever), all you get to do is stream. - Charron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Not an English student, I assume.
- Charron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Same here, on the off-chance I get them to work at all. I'm at a university, so such activity is probably a tad frowned upon.
- TruthElixirX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, I realized this. I have major problems with my ISP and ports. -_-. I can only get the torrents to turn yellow on Az-whatever.
- ductoogle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If your willing to pay for music I like www.Last.FM
- jcweezy, on 06/21/2009, -0/+2I love music! I could upload some music into my ipod. Nice post!
- DAC1138, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Heh, pretty cool. Just today I was looking for a list of sites to get royalty free music for video projects I work on. Great list. Wikipedia also has a few listed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_music
- Rivers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you want a site that doesnt go through bit torrent or such then try www.purevolume.com or www.garageband.com both have free independant bands and have 1000's of songs up for download
- MickBordet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Found some worthwhile music on this already. I find part of the problem with services like these, especially as they grow in size, is that the categories can be too wide or too narrow, or that people upload their details into the wrong place so you find hip hop in 'classical' because they think it is a 'classic' track or they just want to be spotted in a quieter part of the site.
I might be tempted to stick some of my stuff up on this and see how it pans out. - Charron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Last.fm is nice (I've got an account, even part of the Digg group), but it's no better for buying music. Unless you're lucky enough to hear it on their radio, you usually only get the standard 30-second sample. So you're generally no better off than from iTunes or anything like that.
- SirSid, on 05/27/2009, -0/+1I know alot of the bands arnt in english but if you look around a bit you can find some pretty sweet stuff. P.O.Box for instance is this new ska band i have just fallen for
- virginian9000, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1My favorite piano music is on this site. That already makes it a favorite of mine!
- xiaofeiamber, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great! I like free!because I am a students, and I don't have extra money to buy Music.
- BasilHerb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Looks promising. I wonder if new artists will be able to break through.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Welcome to Creative Commons (The license which Jamendo is based on).
Creative commons allows the artist to give out some rights giving more freedom to their fans which are allowed to download and distribute the song usually as long as it's for personal use.
The artist chooses which rights to give out and which to reserve (Some Rights Reserved), mantaining the controll of his songs. The free distribution allows the artists to get more fans which is very important if they want to become popular and then they can start singning in concerts where they really get money (Labels usually pay 1$ per sold CD).
It's a new and fair business model. For example, I think we all know this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjA5faZF1A8
He's one of the most watched videos on youtube. Why? Because of the free "distribution".
It's a new business model which the RIAA fears because they wouldn't be able to controll anymore the Music "Market".
BTW, If you want a good album on Jamendo I'd Suggest you this one:
http://www.jamendo.com/es/album/816/ - Zookelif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Im kinda digging (no pun intended) this site although i haven't tried downloading any thing yet
- joank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very much different from Pod Safe Music Network and Magnatunes in terms of delivery of free music. We need more sites like these!
- azaah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0very good idea, now if only we can convince the big corporations to do the same...
dugg! - lenkabliss, on 03/24/2008, -0/+0Jamendo is one of the best things in cyberspace.
- Double6, on 06/13/2009, -0/+0Double6project (lounge-chillout-instrumental) free album download: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/46358?refuid=63398 ... ...Jabaro (ambient) free album download: http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/46278?refuid=63398 ... ...support our music!
- keikomushi, on 05/07/2008, -0/+0Upgrades to Jamendo recently enabled users to download a zipped file of the albums. You can search via the licensing, Creative Commons and Art Libre licenses being included in this. You can also search by genre and artist. Regardless, it is all legal with 50% of donations given to the website and the other 50% going to the artist. I have been a member for ages and love the website. If you would like any recommendations then let me know and I will to help.
