- truebullfan, on 06/10/2009, -8/+183I love last.fm but I dont feel good having CBS controlling the site now.
- tmyprod, on 06/10/2009, -6/+164Well, it was a good run while it lasted.
- Tetromos, on 06/10/2009, -20/+162Great, sold to CBS?! I have a feeling that Last.Fm is going to go downhill from here...
- iammzac, on 06/10/2009, -5/+126I watch CBS, and all I C is BS.
- inactive, on 06/10/2009, -4/+107:(
Please don't ruin this CBS - chaos7, on 06/10/2009, -1/+61apparently CBS has owned it for a couple years now. the article says it was sold to CBS in 2007. the point here is that the founding people have left.
- RavagesOfTime, on 06/10/2009, -5/+65Ahh, big corporation! Everybody run! Get to tha choppah! Wait, the chopper was made by Boeing? AHHHHH!!
- frequentFlyer, on 06/10/2009, -0/+44It's OK. Boeing makes great choppas.
- shiruken, on 06/10/2009, -0/+39I really hope this does not cause the site to take a turn for the worse. These three guys were the vision behind the entire experience, so it'll be interesting to see what happens without them and what they go on to do (new website mb?).
- KnightMareInc, on 06/10/2009, -0/+35 plays since 14 Dec 2005
ugh. Hmm wonder if I could export my last.fm stats to another service. - s73v3r, on 06/10/2009, -2/+37I just hope they don't pass on user data to the RIAA
- sputnike, on 06/10/2009, -16/+50It's a shame, it's also a shame it got sold to CBS in the first place... you don't see many UK websites get that popular. Be cool to see what they come up with next.
- thelastcivilian, on 06/10/2009, -0/+31Stats.
- darkNiGHTS, on 06/10/2009, -0/+30Isn't that what the little green thumb means?
- JupiterSSJ4, on 06/10/2009, -2/+31not in the USA, it's free.
I don't use the radio or music listening part of the site, all I care about is the scrobbler tracking of my music listening and linking that to finding new artists - AutomaticTLC, on 06/10/2009, -4/+29*****.
- AndrewDB, on 06/10/2009, -0/+24CBS was the one who initiated that deal with Microsoft..
- orthodoxDrew, on 06/10/2009, -5/+27:(
- notzak, on 06/10/2009, -0/+22Last.fm isn't just for radio. It also takes down information of every song you play (on computer and on music device) and lets you check your musical compatibility with other members of the website, and it's usually pretty accurate.
- SerenityV, on 06/11/2009, -2/+23You stole that from "Nas - Sly Fox". :(
- Vaiper, on 06/10/2009, -0/+19Your comment = A
My comment = B
A != B
Wait, what? - hotsoda, on 06/10/2009, -2/+20That never actually.. happened..
- CraigHwk, on 06/10/2009, -1/+18Thanks for the laugh.
- datenshi, on 06/10/2009, -1/+16I use last.fm because no matter what artist I type into the search box, Pandora has never heard of it.
- PeterFile, on 06/10/2009, -3/+17I hope last.fm doesn't go down the *****.
- ayeroxor, on 06/10/2009, -1/+14What the ***** is a nething? Come back when you can use real words like the rest of the adults.
- PeppermintPig, on 06/10/2009, -0/+13Or rather evidence supporting the accusation has not been presented.
It doesn't seem all that likely, though. - Confuseus, on 06/10/2009, -3/+15last.fm is more than just streaming
- Anteros, on 06/10/2009, -0/+12Not really surprising, they have taken the 140 million from cbs and are now leaving, most startup founders leave after a big acquisition.
- johnpowell, on 06/10/2009, -0/+12http://libre.fm/ and http://bugs.libre.fm/wiki/Using_lastscrape
- th3heretic, on 06/10/2009, -1/+12I C what you did there.
- jnuffnuffnomnom, on 06/10/2009, -2/+13I herd you dog, straight up.
- Beatmiser, on 06/10/2009, -1/+11I'm not at all sure what you are trying to say there, but I will point out that Last.fm has an app that lets you stream. It's pretty damned nice actually.
- JupiterSSJ4, on 06/10/2009, -1/+11I only use it for the stats and finding new artists. I could care less about the music streaming and such (which is still free in the US)
- Beatmiser, on 06/10/2009, -0/+10Okay, at this point i'm just going to assume that you are stupid.
- weeFred, on 06/10/2009, -0/+10I'm convinced this guy is taking the piss.
- Xavious85, on 06/10/2009, -0/+9So that would explain when I was over in Poland a few weeks ago they would only give me 30 free tracks. I thought Last.fm had gone off the ***** and since then, switched to Pandora. Good to know that its still free in the US
- alpha88, on 06/11/2009, -0/+9Free in the U.S., U.K., and Germany I believe.
I quit using last.fm when they started doing that. - SouthsideIrish, on 06/10/2009, -2/+11I listen to mainly Japanese music, and find that Last.fm just does a better job at giving music that I am interested in. Pandora for me is an epic fail.
- busterbros, on 06/10/2009, -2/+11Assuming that was meant as sarcasm, I thought it was hilarious.
- Vaiper, on 06/10/2009, -4/+13/s
- Rukusx7, on 06/10/2009, -4/+12I'm sure you noticed that they no longer stream free radio anymore?
I had the fire.fm extension installed in firefox, so i could blast tunes by tag, artist, or user, and one day it stopped working, I found out why, they now require you to pay $3/mth for that service. - mickhead, on 06/10/2009, -0/+8Its really not a pay site at all. I'm in Canada, everything apart from the radio is free. Its just the radio that you can pay for. But the radio is just a small part of last.fm.
- TripinVA, on 06/10/2009, -0/+8Yes, they took it over in 1997. (Which is to say, I'm failing to see the point in your message.)
They killed off the "Hot Talk" format because it had no ratings. This seems to be a consistent problem with CBS radio stations. - TheRipper, on 06/10/2009, -2/+10I just love Last.fm. Just hope CBS won't ruin it. However, in hand of a corporation I fear it will go downhill from now.
- SpareAccount, on 06/11/2009, -1/+8Because Pandora is ONLY available in the US. I'd *love* to go back to Pandora, it gave me far superior music selections, but I'm barred as an overseas listener.
- afwjam, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7Thanks for the replies guys. My friends are always telling me to use Pandora. Just trying to figure out what the differences were.
- busterbros, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7I would move mine to zune.net in a second if I could.
- Tamant, on 06/10/2009, -0/+7You're doing it wrong
