Did anyone see the MTV "my diary" specials where they followed Jay Z, Kanye, Pharell, etc. for a month or whatever? When Kanye was on and he lost the award and got into the limo, he looked at the camera at the end of the show and said something like "there's always next year", and his voice cracked and he looked like he was about to cry. He also got "upset" when he read saw the Rolling stone article that called him a "nerd" when he was young.
He gets criticized a lot for being in the closet or at the very least being an emotional little bitch. Trust me, he was serious when he went up on stage. Remember when he got on stage and threatened the grammy committe when he said something like "if I don't win there's gonna be a problem... and you don't want a problem do you?" A much more uplifting message that talks about how people should overcome stereotypes and elevate themselves and their culture.
