- Rawkus, on 06/06/2009, -2/+139Apparently T-Pain has reached out to a few rappers for an emergency meeting to prepare a response.
It will be in auto-tune. - inactive, on 06/06/2009, -6/+128It's about time someone took a stand- I've stopped listening to my local hip-hop station because I'm sick of that *****.
- Foskey, on 06/06/2009, -16/+115However, the song sucks.
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -0/+88I wonder what he thinks of Auto-Tune The News.
- DelSolMan, on 06/06/2009, -6/+89I'm on a boat!
- jfield1, on 06/06/2009, -2/+83Shor-tay.
- rdldr1, on 06/07/2009, -2/+68Auto-tune; for people who can't sing in the first place.
Why is this tolerable when lip-syncing isn't. Any ***** off the street can sound good, or better than T-Pain with auto tune. It doesn't mean they deserve to rake in millions of dollars for 1/3 of the work of a real artist. It's computer generated talent.
Auto-tune is fine?? How about it's a FAD. It's a crutch for people with no talent who bring unoriginality to music.
...and another reason why rap is dying. There will be an auto-tune backlash, and it's just begun. - buakaw, on 06/07/2009, -0/+65Stephen Hawking should take advantage of this auto-tune fad and release physics theories in a form of a rap album.
- Aeroboy, on 06/07/2009, -3/+56I got 99 problems but auto-tune ain't one.
- Rizoh, on 06/06/2009, -0/+45I doubt it. Kanye co-produced the track.
- sheeats, on 06/06/2009, -1/+46Or Auto-Tune the Elderly:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nY-7B5i_IOk - chicophi235, on 06/07/2009, -4/+49He's got a point. Auto-tune is way overused. Too bad the song he made to prove a point sounds totally ***** terrible.
- alkajazz, on 06/07/2009, -1/+46Hopefully his buddy kanye takes a hint.
- ry4nsm1th, on 06/07/2009, -4/+41Awww you think you're witty! That's sooo cute!
- yearofglad, on 06/07/2009, -1/+28Absolutely. These rappers should stop auto tuning and start shooting heroin.
- crazytucker, on 06/07/2009, -2/+29Bulls eye
- MikeWilson, on 06/07/2009, -1/+27OOOOoOooOO-YEAaaH-Yeaeahhh-YeaAAAHhhhhh
- ShingoEX, on 06/07/2009, -0/+25You're the cancer that's killing music.
- jeexbit, on 06/07/2009, -2/+26If Autotune had anything to do with this Slap Chop remix, then I'm all for it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jtPhQTL8i4 - shaqtastic, on 06/07/2009, -2/+26yeah.. you know, since he produced this song.
i sort of felt that kanye's use of auto-tune was just him flexing his versatility... almost as a half-joke. though not his best work, he laid down 808 in three weeks. hate if you still want, but yeah... let's see what i've done in the past 3 weeks. hrmm, worked a day job and logged 20 hours of team fortress 2? - joshmoney, on 06/07/2009, -0/+21I believe it's Shaw-tay. Shor-tay was so 2006.
- HyphySoul, on 06/07/2009, -1/+20Death of Auto-Tune = Death of T-Pain
- solid12345, on 06/07/2009, -0/+19He is going to buy everyone a drank
- akchrs, on 06/07/2009, -2/+21You never saw Lanye Staley use an autotune.
- beloitpiper, on 06/07/2009, -0/+18That...that...gah! That's such a dumb excuse for auto-tune!
- BooBooBaron, on 06/07/2009, -1/+19Blame it on da al al al ca alcohol. At least there is on person in the business taking a stand on this.
Bring Back Nate Dogg. where is he?? - rdldr1, on 06/07/2009, -0/+16Give the label credit to the audio engineer then! Not the hack, no talent artist.
I'd like to see auto-tune work in any other music genre, where people aren't sheep like you.
I'm a fan of Kanye, but I ***** on his current auto-tune filled album. ***** garbage. Even Eminem tries to sing without auto-tune. - beloitpiper, on 06/07/2009, -2/+17It's ok, you can ***** swear here.
- CardHockman, on 06/07/2009, -3/+18How much "work" did the Jesus and Mary Chain put into Psychocandy? How much "work" did The Velvet Underground put into White Light/White Heat? Protip: not much. Possibly none at all. Virtuoso talent and a 50-piece drum set do not equal great music (Dream Theater apparently hasn't realized this yet). Your argument sucks.
- elmontsmilitia, on 06/07/2009, -2/+16Jay-Z built kanye...but you never know with that egotistical bastard
- Swarms, on 06/07/2009, -0/+14On December 19, 2007, he suffered a stroke, according to a coordinator for his recently formed gospel choir, Innate Praise
On January 18, 2008, it was officially reported that the stroke had rendered the left side of his body paralyzed. Doctors believe there will be a full recovery, and his voice was not affected.
On September 15, 2008, dubcnn.com reported Nate Dogg had suffered a second stroke.
On September 16, 2008, it was reported that Dogg is using an assisted-breathing tube for comfort, although he can breathe on his own - EpilepticMoose, on 06/07/2009, -3/+16yes, I was hoping for something catchy and clever... unfortunately, the song was neither.
- mouseshoes, on 06/07/2009, -4/+16It took auto-tuning to get you to stop listening to radio hip-hop?
The last time I actively listened to radio hip-hop, this song was playing...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otkwOm06FgI
Yes, it is a real song. Yes, it was on the air.
Yes, that is the most ill-advised metaphor for a woman's ass ever and I don't think they even know it.
And it's the reason why I remain radio hip-hop abstinent to this day.
Also, that was a horrible song. I hope someone samples it and auto-tunes his lines just to piss him off. - eloestea, on 06/07/2009, -0/+121 word: ETHER!!!!!!!!
- enzobot24, on 06/07/2009, -0/+11Anybody get an image of all these popular rappers in a Dr. Strangelove-style conference room?
- dex5291, on 06/07/2009, -0/+11come to phoenix i can hear akon on three stations at once
- Laterali, on 06/07/2009, -0/+11Is mainstream rock really doing much better?
- quomen, on 06/07/2009, -2/+12But T-Pain will never, never, never, never change.
[/get it?] - CapeKid, on 06/07/2009, -1/+11Why don't you try making 5 beats a day for 3 summers?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pd2OhuER7FY - hoa801enator, on 06/07/2009, -5/+15You're missing the point.
Rap songs are rap songs, they're not supposed to be "catchy."
If you want a catchy song, listen to Britney Spears.
Songs that use catchy hooks with autotune are exactly what Jay-Z is referring to. - TheWorm, on 06/07/2009, -0/+10Kanye? Take a hint? We're talking about the same person right?
- Eupatorus, on 06/07/2009, -0/+9Auto-tune should be used the way it was intended: to fix minor pitch errors in an otherwise worthy vocal track.
It is overused today. People that shouldn't be singing/rapping because they flat out CAN'T hit the proper notes are making careers out of terrible singing. It's quite sad really. Video has killed the radio star.
If I were Melodyne I'd be wanting royalties. - solid12345, on 06/07/2009, -0/+9I remember when Shor-tay was a 16 year-old male wanting to be a thug...
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -0/+9Poor wife.
- FlyinRyan89, on 06/07/2009, -0/+8apparently.
- MikeWilson, on 06/07/2009, -0/+8WRONG, produced by I.D,
You fail, please exit stage left. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7Just like yo momma be shakin her ass in my face at the end of time, brotha.
- yocouchdigga, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7"nailed haaaard"
*****' lold, nice find. - mbrannon, on 06/07/2009, -1/+8Jay-Z is a known biter. He's been on Biggie's dick since his first album. Also, how are you going to make a song called Death of Autotune and then co-sign the two who use it the most by saying "they do it right". Ugh, screw this song.
- BoutDemCanes91, on 06/07/2009, -0/+6T-Pain's real voice is pretty painful to listen to actually.
