- bigsheldy, on 07/01/2009, -6/+103Why don't they just keep the outrageous $30 service fee and give a refund AND the ticket?
- loganz, on 07/02/2009, -1/+85I will keep my ticket and go to the concert.
- sockpuppets, on 07/02/2009, -8/+54Of corpse he did.
- 5cents, on 07/02/2009, -2/+36The promoters get money from insurance claims as well as retain the those ticket money which many fans do not bother for a refund
- barnis, on 07/02/2009, -2/+33*** NO RESERVE BID NOW*****
original mint condition American Express credit card statement listing ticket for Michael Jackson's final concert tour...on original paper with real ink...comes in frame with or without real tear stains...get this one in 5,000,000 piece of history today!!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - mpancha, on 07/02/2009, -0/+29Brilliant, ***** brilliant. I'm not going to hate on anyone for making a bit of money, and if people want to pay the $150 for the ticket, its their prerogative. From a business standpoint, this is just brilliant.
- 7m7uf, on 07/02/2009, -1/+29Because that'd be TOO fair.
- Type1, on 07/02/2009, -4/+28Thanks, but I'll keep the ticket and sell it in 20-30 years.
That's what I would of said had I bought a ticket... - borez, on 07/02/2009, -3/+27Yeah right, designed by Michael himself.
( pic found on google ) http://blog.singersroom.com/celebs/wp-content/uplo ... - DirtyVicar, on 07/02/2009, -0/+19Having 750,000 useless, depreciated items and selling them on eBay for big markups never stopped the Beanie Babies crowd.
- terrydog64, on 07/02/2009, -0/+17I wanna see a pic of those tickets
- amr05h, on 07/02/2009, -11/+28this is sick.
- STPZ, on 07/02/2009, -6/+23Making money off someone's death how low can ppl get
- linge289, on 07/02/2009, -0/+16zoom in....it says '***THIS IS NOT A TICKET ***'
They give you those things if you went to the o2 and bought the ticket from the box office.....they then would have exchanged it for the actual ticket on the day, which looks like this:
http://www.michaeljacksonlive.com/images/tickets.j ... - dienaked, on 07/02/2009, -1/+16I'm getting my ticket.
When MJ comes back to life next week, I'll be set. - Ajaynow, on 07/02/2009, -4/+18War in IRAQ.
- staffa, on 07/02/2009, -12/+26Yes, offering a full refund, what a bunch of greedy bastards.
What is sick is how this article can twist reality in such a way as to make people think it is sick.
You paid for a ticket to a show, the show isn't going to happen for obvious reasons, you get a refund. When you get a refund for something you purchased, part of the transaction involves returning the thing you purchased.
There are two elements of greed going on here. The concert promoters are out 20 million dollars for preparing the stage and special effects. They are trying to encourage people to believe that the tickets have some intrinsic value so that maybe everyone won't seek a refund and they can recoup some of their losses. This isn't sick, it wasn't their suggestion the tickets had intrinsic value, it was suggested before by others, there is no tradition of not requiring items that are refunded to not be returned. These are real people who worked with MJ who stand to lose their entire livelihood for believing in MJ.
There are fans who believe the tickets will have intrinsic value and want it to keep it for free, despite the fact that all common sense about getting a refund means returning the item that is being refunded. These people are sick, especially so for trying to turn the tables and play off MJ's death for their own selfish reasons.
And through it all, I think MJ is the sick one for being a child molesting pedophile that got off because he is rich and famous. - graemee, on 07/02/2009, -0/+14Or how much they insured. I heard they only insured the first 10 shows.
But I think people can keep the ticket and get the money back, less service fee. Elvis's last concert tickets holders had the same choice, some sued and finally got the money and the ticket.
Ticket holders just need a class action suit. - xsecretfiles, on 07/02/2009, -2/+16How do we know for sure Jackson designed it?
- seattlegirluw, on 07/01/2009, -1/+14Yes, but it's the promoter who will be keeping the money, I'm guessing.
- tdubs, on 07/02/2009, -1/+12What are the promoters going to do with 750,000 useless concert tickets? Sell them on eBay?
- josephbloseph, on 07/02/2009, -3/+14Because they *did* make the investment of booking Jackson, at the expense of other concerts and events, and it's their business what they offer?
- Pramma, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11UK£ 300 million = 491.01 million U.S. dollars
- aznhomig, on 07/02/2009, -4/+15lol, they want to keep the money for a service they haven't even provided.
And the sad part is, some really dumb people are going to go for it. - bbeep, on 07/02/2009, -2/+13String the body up like a marionette? I like where you're going with this.
- djm19, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11This is not greed here. They are doing a refund echange. They sold you a product (the ticket) for money. You can get all your money back by turning your ticket back in. Like any store. It is your choice if you chose to see value in the ticket.
- se1zure, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11How is this difficult to understand... You aren't entitled to that ticket any more than they are entitled to your money. They have an obligation to refund you since the show was canceled, but you have an obligation to return the purchased product (a ticket that allows you into the show) for the refund.
- graemee, on 07/02/2009, -0/+10They'd sell. Plain and simple people would buy them. Maybe not you or I - but they'd sell.
- ZzFDKzZ, on 07/02/2009, -0/+9LMAO looks like a regular ticket nothing fancy.
- boxxa, on 07/02/2009, -0/+9Not sure if a ticket of a concert he never performed is worth anything.
If he actually died on stage then I sure as hell would keep it. - seanstuart, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8Gotta hand it to them. Not bad.
- jcastillo81, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8and then they will sell the ticket in 10 years for a huge profit...
- anizzle, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8Well we could ask him...oh wait.
- flair1, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8
they will be collector's items, no doubt
They are going for over $100 each now.
Here is a description of the ticket from the promoter: The tickets printed with the special lenticular process were inspired and designed by Michael Jackson for the fans attending his shows. This is the actual "oversized" concert ticket, measuring 82mm x 186mm (3.23in x 7.32in) for the 50 This Is It shows at The O2. His hopes were his fans would want to keep the special ticket as a reminder of the memorable evening that they would share together. The lenticular concert tickets feature one of eight unique designs printed via the lenticular printing process. Lenticular printing is a 3D process that can contain animation, multiple photos, morphing or a combination of these. The front of the ticket is the lenticular image and the reverse side is the standard ticket detail including the performer name, tour name, show date, venue, section number, row number, and seat number. - 7m7uf, on 07/02/2009, -0/+8Apocalyptica canceled one of their shows i was going to (their bus broke down) -- i was refunded everything and i still have the ticket. However, i do believe they could have rode their cellos to Tulsa.
- darkciti2, on 07/02/2009, -2/+9Take the ticket! Consider it a mid-long term investment. In 10-20 years that thing when people have misplaced theirs, it would be worth a pretty penny. If you have children, you can leave it to them and in a 50 years it will be worth a lot more.
Either way, it's a piece of pop-culture history. - Hillsfar, on 07/02/2009, -1/+8The insurance payout, if any, will depend on how he died.
- dissolutionman, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6***** that, have him do the zombie dance as an actual zombie.
- gossipninja, on 07/02/2009, -0/+6(Another potential moneymaker for AEG is a recording the promoter made of Jackson's final rehearsal at the Staples Center. "According to those familiar with the recording, it would be releasable both as a CD, DVD and Blu-(ray) and high-definition DVD," TheWrap story says.)
HD DVD?!?! They want to sell a video of a dead man on a dead format? - HoldenH, on 07/02/2009, -3/+8He never did anything to those kids he just wanted the childhood he never had...
- DreKor, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5eBay
- publiclurker, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5but is he legally required to let you keep the ticket afterward?
- redgiemental, on 07/02/2009, -1/+6If that is the case then why have I never been required to return a ticket for a cancelled concert before?
In fact last time I bought tickets I got the money back AND they sent me a ticket obviously printed after the cancellation because it said cancelled beside the date.
The ticket itself is not the item that was paid for, the performance was.
I have had a few tickets to cancelled concerts before and this have never had this occur before.
Also MJ never abused any child and you sir are an ***** for condemning someone with no evidence. - rrife, on 07/02/2009, -0/+5There are 1000's of these tickets floating around and the promoter will probably print more and sell them once the refund period has expired.
- kjoe51689, on 07/02/2009, -3/+7Sorry Mj you just aren't worth 125 for a piece of paper.
- pinguz, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4you haven't seen anything yet
- TAGline, on 07/02/2009, -1/+5They sold the ticket :P
- JohnA, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4Look closely, and you'll see the statement THIS IS NOT A TICKET in large friendly letters, and to redeem it at the O2.
- inactive, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4That's like saying you want to return an iPod to a store but want to keep the iPod AND receive your refund. Guess what, that's not happening. You make a return, you have to give up what you purchased.
You purchased a ticket, now you want a refund you must return your ticket. - Rhythmix, on 07/02/2009, -3/+7BUT THERE'S MORE! CALL IN THE NEXT FIVE MINUTES AND...
