like -200 or something! thanks! - inactive, on 04/20/2009, -0/+3Excellent submission, thank you M. I knew of but didn't really know much about JG Ballard. Looks like I've got some reading to do...
- Simucal, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Growing up I discovered J.G. Ballard and learned to really love his novels. Amazon suggested the first one I read, after that I consumed a whole host of his work.
Some of my favorites are "Crash", "Concrete Island", "The Atrocity Exhibition", "Empire of the Sun", "Running Wild", Super-Cannes" and many more.
His "Vermilion Sands" short stories are really great too.
RIP JG Ballard, I hope you haven't gone to an afterlife filled with dystoptian-ultra-modern-violent-psychological-***** attributes like all the worlds you created in your novels. - mockupscaledown, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2J. Robbins of Jawbox / Burning Airlines / Channels fame is also a huge Ballard fan.
- planktonattack, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1Dugg for the exact same three bands also. The rest I could take or leave.
- csrster, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1Dexy's Midnight Runners deserve a mention for actually namechecking Ballard in "There, There, My Dear" from "Searching for the Young Soul Rebels".

Utterly distopian, nothing quite sounds like it, or has since. - Kadayi, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1Vermilion Sands is one of my favourite collections ever. The whole urban decay by the Riviera echoed later on in Cocaine nights.
- litothegreat, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1its my money and i need it now!!

- inactive, on 04/21/2009, -1/+0Why do people need to frame his work that speaks for it self in terms of quality and imagination in this way that promotes these has been musicians? This article assumes you are an idiot and feeds you childish *****.
- yearofglad, on 04/21/2009, -3/+1You know what's worse than Ballard? Palahniuk's ***** Ballard impression.
