- KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -5/+50ozzfest sucks.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+48"Maybe he was upset by the lack of cowbell?"
You, sir, are an insult to Iron Maiden fans worldwide. - JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Bruce Dickinson was not allowed to do his signature flag run (with the British flag) at Ozzfest, he did it anyways and Ozzy's wife ordered the front rows to throw stuff at him on stage when he tried to do that. Ozzy and Bruce Dickinson are not on the best terms because Sharon is a ***** retard.
Iron Maiden > Ozzy. And Ozzfest IS a joke these days. Gigantour is just as good, costs half as much and has better bands. - Eywanadi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36Just for the record the Bruce Dickinson who produced Don't Fear the Reaper is not the same Bruce Dickinson who wrote Number of the Beast.
- clickwir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Exactly. He's complaining about the over comercialization of it all.
It's not about the music any more for some of these people. And those types of people run Ozzfest and several others. - antoniojvr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24THE Bruce Dickinson.
- omnithought, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Bruce is someone I've respected for years. I remember going to Iron Maiden concerts in the 80's and he always had something very intelligent and unpopular to say.
I got to see them again just a few years ago, when all the Napster/Metallica crap was going on and he was telling the audience to go ahead and download every Maiden song if they like, because the bands who already have millions and are still worried about their money are basically greedy, fan-hating *****.
Up the Irons!! - Blisshead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Ozzfest treated Iron Maiden rather badly when they played it, so this is really no surprise. Iron Maiden > Ozzfest. I'd guess it's partly true and partly sour grapes.
- xlocust, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16***** OzzFest. None of those Bands could hold a candle to Maiden.
- theguru1974, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15After hearing this last year I lost all respect for Sharon - she is obviously a disgusting hag consumed with greed and shallow tastes. I wish Ozzy had succeeded choking her to death those many years ago - it would have been an improvement for BOTH of them.
- catfud, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Gigantour last year was a bad ass line up
this year the line up is not as good
but still solid
100 times better tehn ozzfest this year
only good band on ozzfest this year was dragonforce - mywhitenoise, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I don't like Iron Maiden, or metal, but the guy has the right idea. ***** reality tv, fashion, and the overall mainstream (even though he fronted one of metal's biggest acts).

"Saturday night's Ozzfest at the Hyundai Pavillion near Los Angeles was a debacle on so many levels, I am still in shock as I write this. As a fan of many of the bands [Saturday] night, one can only hope this was an isolated incident, but sadly, it most likely wasn't. As many of you have heard already, co-headliners and metal legends IRON MAIDEN were pelted with eggs, bottle caps, beer cups, spit on, had people from the Ozzfest camp talking over the PA during their set, had 'Eddie' delayed from his onstage entrance, had members of the [BLACK LABEL SOCIETY] entourage rush the stage with American flags, and had the PA intentionally turned off over six times, all by the OSBOURNE CAMP.
"While it's still unclear as to the exact reasons why the terrorizing started (rumors abounded as to why, with everything from Bruce calling out Ozzy in the U.K. rock magazine Kerrang! on the widely known fact that Ozzy uses a teleprompter, to various vague references said on stage about a 'reality show' at an Ozzfest stop in Detroit), one thing was very clear: The whole thing stunk, and left me, and nearly all of the 40,000+ heavy metal fans in attendance angered and disappointed. "...

- mylkhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Ozzfest and Warped Tour are enormous commercial events and it's not even about the bands anymore. It's about trying to get as many kids packed into one area so all the vendors have their access and can advertise and manipulate as they wish for about 10 hours.
At Warped, they give out free Monster energy drinks, to everyone, even 8 year old kids. Who must stay inside a fenced in area with paid advertisements running all around them. And it gives the appearance that everyone is drinking Monster. Smart move on their part, but seriously, these events are all about trying to get these kids to spend their disposable income on their product. It's not about the music at all. - themayorpwns, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8correction...
Maiden > All - gmillerd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Isnt there like only one music promotion company now?
- reed311, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12Iron Maiden doesn't play music for money, though. They give all of their profits to chairty and live off of bread and water.
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Love and hate a band for their music. Not for their status.
Everytime a metal band releases an album there's always people complaining. If its similar to their old album, people say they're doing the same thing over and over and getting boring. If its different from their old album, people start bitching that they're "selling out" and bla bla bla.
The same people who say something is "too mainstream" are the ones buying skeleton t-shirts and black eyeliner at their local hot topic. - catfud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@eqisow
system is ok
but disturbed is not good
they are all production and no talent
and i didnt go see ozzfest because why wouldi spend 60 bux to see dragonforce when they are coming through again in sept - rodrigo74, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Great to see Iron Maiden in the frontpage, tomorrow (monday) their new CD is out here in Europe :D
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5The Download Festival's line up COMPLETLY kicked Ozzfest's line up this year, and I think it will continue to do so.
I wish I had plane tickets to England during the Download Festival, _every_ single one of my favourite bands (who weren't dead) were there. - DansLabDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5UP THE IRONS!!!!!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah wrong Bruce Dickinson...
- DivinoAG, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Well, if you read the whole story (you can read other related news on the same website, the direct address for more Iron Maiden news is below my post), you can see that both sides acted pretty low.
Seems Dickinson was trashing Ozzfest and Ozzy the whole tour, not only that night, talking about how the sound was bad, how "corporate" the event was, and how he didn't need to be on reality shows. Now, even if he does have a point (I'm not discussing that right now), it's just bad manners to bad talk the people who are paying your checks. Even Steve Harris, through various accounts, went to apologize to Ozzy for Dickinson's behavior that same night, before the gig.
On the other hand, that does not gives Sharon the right to sabotage the band's concert. That's a huge disrespect for the band, specially since she said having nothing against the other members, and specially a disrespect for the paying audience. And of course, getting all worked up because of the flag run is just stupid. It was always done during The Trooper, and has nothing to do with any disrespect for their country or anything like that.
As far as I can tell, they should both learn to stop acting like children.

"DOO - DOO - DOO - BAPP" - selkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sharon Osbourne is a grade-A bitch. If she was so pissed off she should have taken it up with the band or with Rob Smallwood their manager. What happened that night was disgusting, and it's only respect for Ozzy that stopped her from being lynched.
I mean she actually got her daughter and a gang of Ozzfest flunkies to throw eggs at the band while she cut the PA! That is just plain insulting to the fans that paid their hard earned money to watch the show.
The best part is, Maiden played like hells demons were possessing them, nothing could hold 'em down and the crowd knew it... it was crazy to see Bruce right up at the front of the stage waving the Union Jack and screaming 'These colours don't run'.
Up the Irons... ***** Shanon Osbourne. - anareric, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The funniest part of the whole thing was when Bruce got all upset about people booing his flag and said "These colours don't run" and then followed up by performing "Run To The Hills"
- joshikus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sounds of the Underground is what Ozzfest was it's first 2 years...
that is, a festival of METAL, not this System of a Down/Disturbed crap, for the KIDS.
Ozzfest LAWN tickets = $80
Sounds of the Underground tickets = $30 - Prod_Deity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I chose to go see the Unholy Alliance this year instead of OzzFest.
I hope Slayer keeps this idea up, and makes The Osbournes™ file Chapter 11. - pagit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5and an insult to Blue Oyster Cult as well.

Iron Maiden........ will always rule..
Ozzy made good music when Randy was on lead Guitar.. ( Bizzard of Ozz and such )
but if you watch the concerts they did back in the 80's ozzy was so ***** he miss pitched and just forgot *****... where as Bruce is and always has been ***** Sick...

- broly1718, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Its not a little bit either. I wanna say its upwards of a $100k or more.

- cwhatley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5No version of Bruce Dickinson produced Don't Fear the Reaper. Someone named Bruce Dickinson did work on producing and remastering the BOC back catalogue.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/(Don't_Fear)_The_Reaper - radu79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And you don't get money for doing your job?
Iron Maiden is one of the least commercial bands ever, and as any fan can attest, they do their music for the art, not for the money. But of course, when you are good at somethign you will usually make good money.
Ozzy didn't just want to make good money, but crossed the line to greed. - hardkoretom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3eqisow
much agreed on those three being great bands (though i have personal hate towards some of the members of system of a down)
unfortunatly Ozzfest is a lose lose situation. This show should be boycotted on account of the bad management which we saw a few years ago when they had a problem with the Static-X DVD Where the hell are we and what day is it (contained fotage from Ozzfest 99 i think). But i dont believe boycotting one of the biggest metal tours in america is something we should be doing to our musicians. I think its a bigger blow to them than it would be to osbourne. - nullview, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I don't ever go to places like that. I'd rather have all my teeth pulled out and have nails hammered into my gums than go there, to a fashion show and hang out with supermodels!"
That's hardcore, i don't like dentist appointments ... I'll take the supermodels. - boneill428, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow. You must be a giant pussy
- Grimlok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All of the Iron Maiden fans out there, like me. Why are there still tickets available for the upcoming concert tour?
- DarthTurducken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I first saw Ozzfest back in 2000 at Houston Raceway Park. Hot as hell, but an awesome show. Some of the bands (like Disturbed and Queens of the Stone Age) were virtual unknowns then. Godsmack and Static X were playing off their debuts. Pantera was on point as always. Even my guilty pleasure at the time, Kittie, kicked ass.
The great thing about it was that it was in a big field instead of being constrained by seats. The only bad thing was there was no shade. Ahh good times. - blacklilyninja, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i love bruce dickenson
