- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+36I'm not a big fan of metal. But somehow, Iraqi metal just sounds frickin awesome. I'm sure those guys have a lot more to scream about than us western people who are screaming about how we got picked on in middle school.
- Seekness, on 02/10/2009, -0/+26I have to hand it to them- the name (Acrassicauda) really does sound like the perfect blend of Iraqi and Metal.
- Mossman85, on 02/10/2009, -2/+27Perhaps you should watch this video before making the hateful Metallica comments.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD9UUQ1umAs - AmazingSteve, on 02/10/2009, -0/+22Where ever these guys go, they'll have brothers. Metal knows no race or borders.
- DouglasQ, on 02/10/2009, -0/+22IROCK!
- Barnolde, on 02/10/2009, -1/+21I first heard about them through the VBStv Youtube channel, which did that documentary on them called 'Heavy Metal in Baghdad': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vT5ZuXqZ6pw and on the black metal scene in Norway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4U33U_UyzQ
The ***** they have to endure just to play is crazy. Props to them and I'm definitely interested to see what they'll end up doing. - tehpwnerofn00bs, on 02/10/2009, -0/+18I watched a documentary on these guys last summer. And yeah, they've got a a lot more to be pissed about.
At one point their practice room got hit by a mortar or something. Friggin' thing blew up most of their instruments. - Wreath, on 02/10/2009, -0/+17Iraqi metal? You have my attention!
- coldkill3r, on 02/10/2009, -1/+17\m/
- yikiad, on 02/10/2009, -1/+17***** metal ***** rules where ever the ***** you are. *****.
- DivisibleByZero, on 02/10/2009, -1/+15That look on his face is priceless.
- jordantneff, on 02/10/2009, -0/+13\mm/ <-- Too much metal for one hand
- Lonewolfx77, on 02/10/2009, -0/+13While I'm not a huge fan of their sound, its quite amazing what these guys are doing. They are truly passionate about what they do, and that's definitely a break in the majority of music over here. And a great name.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+13thats so metal.
- dexter411, on 02/10/2009, -0/+12SADdam.
- misfit32, on 02/10/2009, -1/+11***** Slayer!!!!
- Kordras, on 02/10/2009, -0/+9***** awesome man, these guys are great. Everyone should definitely check out the documentary about them, even if you're not a metal fan.
- MadThrasher, on 02/10/2009, -0/+8Good to know metal was being played over there \m/! Closest place you can go for metal (without persecution) in the middle east would be Dubai
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7I'll bet they've got all the inspiration they need to write some heavy ass *****.
- Nouman6, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7I expected some greeting from Necrophagist :(
- nzhamstar, on 02/10/2009, -0/+7What? Metal bands don't sing about how they got picked on in middle school, you're thinking about punk/emo/pop?
Listen to some freaking metal, dorkus. - coldkill3r, on 02/10/2009, -0/+6Yep, the only question people ask bands is: can you play? Doesn't matter if you are black, Asian, or even extremely fat. Just look at Chuck Billy. He is pretty fat due to his cancer treatment, and his voice sounds more intense than ever.
- Jeepy, on 02/10/2009, -3/+9If Dethklok was real they'd only be about 85% as brutal as these guys.
- paulsabo, on 02/10/2009, -2/+8"Members of Acrassicauda faced death threats in Iraq for playing Western rock music"
Christ, if that were the law here... - EddieSpeaks, on 02/10/2009, -1/+7Your knowledge is worse. Metal is a very diverse genre of music. Most of metal however is about Philosophy - meaning of life that sorta thing. Only Black/Death metal is about Satan. Thrash Metal is mainly about war (against it, not for it - like some country albums), Power Metal is fantasy themes (and the best genre IMHO), Doom metal is about depression and there are hundreds of sub-genres.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5but no drinking or kissing ion public!
- mpctd, on 02/10/2009, -0/+5A(ndroctonus) crassicauda is a fat-tail scorpion originating from the middle east... one of the most venomous scorpions in the world. ...not saying that's where they got their name from. Still pretty bad arse.
- Kordras, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4There are some great Israeli bands as well like Melechesh (sp maybe) and Orphaned Land.
- nzhamstar, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4Hopefully they will be mortared so we never get to hear them.
- twiztidsinz, on 02/10/2009, -0/+4iRock?
- lead2thehead, on 02/10/2009, -1/+4You know those guys are hard core.
- anthstaf56, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3Thats awesome. The name is great.
- DouglasQ, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3First Iraq folk band; Infiddle!!
- nzhamstar, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3If they released their stuff on a 'pay what you think its worth' type deal, I'm pretty sure they could make a ***** of money.
- Shuk, on 02/10/2009, -0/+3That's pretty ***** metal!
- nzhamstar, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Would be mean if a necrophagist-esque band sprouted from Iraq. They're pretty brutal. They got a good push though hopefully they will evolve into their own unique brutal sound.
- drmobutu, on 02/10/2009, -2/+4You can still Rock in America...
- sodade, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Seriously good idea there.
- inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Rhapsody and Dragonforce are prime examples of why I hate power metal. Growls and screaming are excellent when utilized properly, bands like Death (prog/death era), Fleshcrawl, Krisiun, Unleashed and Bloodbath all utilize death metal vocals very well. Burzum's Filosofem is a ***** masterpiece and those vocals are distorted and unintelligible as hell.
And yes I'm a huge fan of Judas Priest, they're heavy metal not power. - superterrorizer, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2deathcab for saddam.
- coldkill3r, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2Orphaned Land kicks some serious ass.
- sodade, on 02/10/2009, -0/+2"And yes I'm a huge fan of Judas Priest, they're heavy metal not power."
Umm, JP's guitar style is pretty much the basis for Power Metal. - zenthax, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1YOU rock? meh
- Rhydeble, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1I dare say you are using improper language, try this:
consensual sexual intercoursing in the missionary position metal consensual sexual intercoursing in the missionary position rules where ever the consensual sexual intercourse in the missionary position you are. Humping. - noisewar, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2Good for them, their story was an awesome one, respect!
- Pixelante, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that crazy Casbah sound
But the Bedouin they brought out the electric camel drum
The local guitar picker got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the shariff had cleared the square
They began to wail
The Shariff don't like it
Rocking the Casbah, rock the Casbah
The Shariff don't like it
Rocking the Casbah, rock the Casbah - inactive, on 02/10/2009, -0/+1Trick question!
Emo's in Iraq would not survive long enough to form a band! hahahaha! - inactive, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2I wonder what the first Iraqi Emo band would be called.
- Superc00kie, on 02/10/2009, -1/+2Keep on rockin' in the free world!
