But recently, indie bands in particular have shown a special sort of fascination with beastly band names. And when it comes time to pick those names, they turn to these five animals more than any others

    Also, Grizzly Bear is anti-folk (they use laptops and are signed to Warp Records, a premiere electronica record label) and Wolfmother reminds me of At The Drive In (probably because of the big afro)

    I didn't realize there were so many animal indie band names... now that I think about it I listen to a lot like Dr Dog, Fleet Foxes, Le Tigre, Noah and the Whale, Cat Power, Fruit Bats, Bowerbirds, Modest Mouse, Arctic Monkeys, etc. That's easy pickins for a javascript name generator.

    Someone should make an Animal Name themed mixtape.
