Sorry, your pompous ass isn't as deep-thinking as you'd like to believe. Your paradox is about as complex as my gym shorts. Prick. - tysonkad, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36This is really cool and well done! I love the odd throwing of the drum stick. When he gets going fast one finger on the piano...make sure you're watching the piano side.
- acff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30his name isnt kfed anymore, its fed ex
- redrighthand, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Interesting concept. Since it's still him playing the intsruments with some clever editing then he has turned himself into an actual muscian even without any musical talent.
Just like britney spears... - gaijin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+28Why don't you just listen with your eyes closed... look away from the monitor...turn the monitor off? Do you see where I'm going with this?
- exsst, on 10/12/2007, -22/+43It's pretty easy.. once you record the sounds + video, you can literally map a bunch of pre-assigned mini note patterns on the sequencer and render out the result.
What is hard, is the actual melody and drum patterns.. Now, as I said before you can get midi - melodies from the net, as you can with complex drum patterns...
Weather or not he personally made the melody or drum pattern is another story.
If he really did, then he indeed has skill and what he states that he "cannot play drums nor piano" would be a bit of a joke since he's at least using some chord progression with apparent knowledge within the time structure to make the drums go beyond 1/16th timing. - argonaut99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23direct youtube link if the original link is slow for you.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=JzqumbhfxRo - retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19Hey... it's the guy with really weird hair again!
- ArveeOnFire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Did anyone else notice he switched the "ideal" clothes for each piece?
He wore formal clothes for the drumming and grungy clothes for the piano. That's a pretty nice detail. - theorymaster, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Absolutely amazing. Must have taken lot of effort
- maledei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17yes, check out his other stuff too, he is really talented.
his shadow running away in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFoyIcuhqos - stukdog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17" second thing...it's incredibly easy to do. "
Prove it. - Crid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Exactly. There's some pen-on-paper composition happening here, even if he didn't use ink and ain't symphonic.
- ViktorVaughn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13I thought that was him.
Very cool, but technically it's not stop motion, just really edited. - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11*had
- donjaime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9@theking
Thats like saying "I know how to use use a camera and edit the footage. So making a great movie is easy!"
It took ALOT more than just knowing how to use video editing software to make that video. - sphinx13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10That the same guy that did the Beatbox remix. It would take an incredible amount of time to edit that.
- lukas88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I want this kid to win an award or something.
- gaijin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@dzer0
Jeez, dude, it's just a joke. You might want to think about restricting that coffee intake just a touch. - gregmo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I really wonder how long this took to make. Really an extraordinary video
- varish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7what ever kind of animation/editing it is, i love it :D
- ToxicGas, on 08/11/2008, -0/+5he forgot to say how 'great' and 'amazing' the guy is
- ctabone, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It seems that for every digg story where some kind of talent or effort is displayed on a video or through photographs...there's always "that guy" who has to post a comment about the lack of both talent and/or effort required to produce said video.
...and then there 's always "that guy" who has to comment about it. I guess that's me in this case. - MikeMcG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah, it's not stop motion, but it's still a really cool video. =P
- Oriqui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I like how is says at the end "I can neither play the piano nor the drums." Awesome.
- fiver22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I can neither play the drums nor the piano" -that is hard to believe -*really, really* hard to believe. -If it is true then the guy should learn because he can obviously write.
- Mistaxe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Very Nice!
This is going out to the coworkers. - aks123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3That's cool, but it would've been cooler (although more tedious) if he used a different shirt for each piano note.
- 1town, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Someone need to look up "Stop Motion" in the dictionary.
Cool video, tho - TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4@dmorel
if you are using after effects this is one way it can be done.
first: lock down your camera, shoot your subject hitting things and making noise. having everything timed to begin with would be helpful when you go to post. like maybe every 5 or 10 seconds you could make a note or sound or action.
second: capture your footage. import it into after effects. place it into a comp (call it comp "raw"). if you twirl open your audio section you can see a wavelength for the audio. this will show you about where the beats start. make markers on your timeline. making markers will allow you to easily choose certain beats. it would also help if you wrote them down: timecode corresponding to description of sound.
third: make a new comp (call it comp "edit") and embed comp "raw". apply "time remapping" to comp "raw". this will allow you to easily edit your time (it's also a really easy way to make guy ritchie speed effects).
fourth: using stop frames where you want a beat you can type in the corresponding time code (which you should have written from step 2) and it will jump to that time. - Loonacy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I don't know where you're from, but where I come from we consider music to be a form of art.
- zephc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I knew I had seen him before: http://digg.com/videos_comedy/Kid_edits_video_clips_of_himself_together_to_make_beat_box
- eatMorChikin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was wondering the same thing. I couldn't find it mentioned anywhere.
- whoreman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3This video reminds me of an Aphex Twin video called Monkey Drummer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YB08leFMRnM
- HelloNavi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5The key difference is he has editing talents, britney spears just has no talent, but hey, at least she has K-FED.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3anyone know if the piano piece has a name or anything?
- cryonix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2watch his self portrait video. in the information spot he says in regards to the music in the self portrait video:
"The music is me, played guitar and harmonica myself (two instruments I actually can't master) but it sounds ok enough. Music edited together in FL Studio." - mhaluza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3How about you stop interrogating everyone about their level of intelligence. Is it not ignorant of you to infer someone's knowledge based on one sentence?
So it's not stop motion we get it. Have a cookie genius.
p.s. I would give you 500 US dollars to recreate this in some fashion, because I am confident you do not have the creativity or skill to pull it off. I'll sign that statement in paper! - phlydwg, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Here's the digg story for this video via youtube... http://digg.com/videos_music/The_hyperactive_kid_is_back
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1playing an instrument and understanding musical theory are completely different things. i originally started my musical endeavors by using a tracker and then subsequently taught myself music theory by obtaining text books about it. from this knowledge of music theory i went on to teach myself how to play the piano. i can say, hands down, the theory is far easier than putting it into practice. i am, however, a mathematician by nature so this could potentially be why i find the theory easy. you cannot, however, conclude anything about someone's ability at playing an instrument based on their knowledge of musical structure or vice versa.
- systemghost, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, that kid has another video of himself out I've seen where he's beatboxing. He's definitely found a creative niche. It's simple, clever and therefore damned entertaining.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1actually, it is pretty easy if you're familiar with using programs with the same layout as something like flash. it's just sequencing things on a time line.
- nibus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I play drums and can say that he had some really creative rythms going there, regarless of him having no ability to play the drums.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1it takes a sense of rhythm. which i can say is far, far more common than the ability to produce rhythmical movements. for most people it would be easier to do what this guy did than to actually play the drums. i'm not saying this isn't a sweet video (despite the fact you can hear the high hat without seeing it move), but this is still a pretty simple thing to do.
- TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1(^_^)
- chrisdrums2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i take it no one here has seen the aphex twin video by chris cunningham then?
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1you don't need to understand how to play a piano what-so-ever to know which keys go with each other. in fact, i taught myself how to play piano based off of my knowledge of musical theory.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1um. which one?
- psych0fish, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1In one of his other videos he played the guitar and harmonica so I'm guessing he has some musical knowlege. He probably composed all of that stuff himself. Very impressive I would say.
