- mattmacneil, on 07/07/2009, -1/+20La-La-Love the pixies.
- folkish, on 07/07/2009, -1/+14"You know what would get us into the studio? If Quentin Tarantino would direct a movie and let us do the music and as a little extra carrot for us, maybe a little cameo. We've already got ideas man. We want to go to Cannes, man!"
wow we could only hope and pray for such a day... something tells me they'd be slicin up eyeballs. - inactive, on 07/07/2009, -1/+10Here comes your man.
- VacuitysBane, on 07/07/2009, -1/+10This man is among the greatest songwriters/frontmen to ever meet a stage. Seeing him live (I did just last night) you'll begin to realize just how many truly great songs he's made...because he could never fit even just the most notable ones into a set.
Also, check out his 2nd last album 'Bluefinger', its one of the more incredible things I've heard in a while. - dronkmunk, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8I'm Digging for fire.
- theratdotus, on 07/07/2009, -1/+9sad, but fight club is the first i ever heard the pixies
- KarateMedia, on 07/07/2009, -0/+7Considering that Trompe came out in 91, was their final album, and that their two (arguably) most important albums came out in the late 80s - I don't know that I'd call the Pixies one of the greatest bands "of the 90s." Their influence was more than felt throughout the 90s, but technically, the band is more rooted in the late 80s. One of their most well-known songs, "Where is My Mind" is from Surfer Rosa, released in 1988. Doolittle was 1989. I wouldn't call them "of the 90s" in the way I'd call Pavement a 90s band.
Yes, I'm being anal about this. That is what music nerds do.
Regardless, you are correct that they are a great band. - mrMunchies, on 07/07/2009, -1/+8He has inspired quite a few people
- vurdillac, on 07/07/2009, -0/+6It's all about the music. Unless you can get us into a Tarantino film.
- Schul983, on 07/07/2009, -1/+7Great band, saw the documentary loudQUIETloud the other week and definitely recommend it for any Pixie fans out there.
- Browzer, on 07/07/2009, -1/+6Not sad as long as you went on to discover more of their songs besides "Where is My Mind".
Frank Black also has some great solo stuff:

His "Teenager of the Year" is basically another Pixies' album. - yellowsnowcone, on 07/08/2009, -0/+4I'm writing Tarantino a letter.
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4Someone with Tarantino connections needs to forward this article. It must happen. Tarantino seems to have good taste in music I'd bet he would at least meet with them and think it over.
- DoubleyouTeeEff, on 07/07/2009, -1/+5Hey!
- ileftfark, on 07/07/2009, -1/+5"I just want to be like Lou Reed, you know what I mean? "
CMKT IV: Wanting to be Lou Reed since 1987. - charlie55, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4that dude rules. he doesnt pretend to care about lots of crap because he thinks he should.
- probablyjason, on 07/07/2009, -1/+4Been tryin' to meet you...
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I think a lot of people first heard The Pixies through Fight Club. I would argue that that is what helped the resurgence of Pixies popularity, more so than Rock Band. Well, that, and the fact that it is excellent, timeless music.
Whoever decided that song needed to be at the end of Fight Club made a great decision. The whole movie has that throbbing Dust Brothers score and then BAM, "Where is My Mind" pops up for the end. It was perfect.
"You met me at a very strange time in my life." - johnbonham1, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3I'm burying you because i've got something against you
- getpumped87, on 07/07/2009, -1/+3drama? what? it's awesome, it shows they're humans...not some untouchable artists who have no soul...when they did their first reunion tour together, they didn't even know how to play their songs!
- getpumped87, on 07/07/2009, -1/+3"If Quentin Tarantino would direct a movie and let us do the music and as a little extra carrot for us, maybe a little cameo. "
my head would explode - oliversan, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Strange as it is, I used to love the album Doolittle, and then realized years later that the tune from Fight Club was the Pixies. Love the Pixies, one of the greatest indie bands of the 90's along with Pavement.
- DoubleyouTeeEff, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Dugg for the mention of Pavement
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2... or whores in my head...
- mattmacneil, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2that's actually not nearly 'nough said.
- mattmacneil, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1nicely done.
- sleestakslayer, on 09/17/2009, -0/+1Pixies are just awesome and I like Frank Black because he's one of the few guys on stage that looks like me!
LoudquietLoud was a great documentary but it kind of brought me down because they all seemed to be so sad. - WMurderface, on 07/07/2009, -1/+2That's crazy he never bothered to listen to M.I.A.'s 20 Dollar, which borrows the Where is My Mind lyrics. If someone else reused my lyrics, I'd make sure to listen to it ASAP.
- MicControlJon, on 07/07/2009, -1/+2I grew up listening to Frank Black and the Pixies, but it all culminated into love for me when I saw Fight Club for the first time. There could not have ever been a better song choice for that scene when all of the buildings start blowing to hell!
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Well, he did say that they wanted to do the music for a Tarantino film.
- THELEECH, on 07/07/2009, -1/+2...Must be a devil between us...
- aceinhibitor, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Cookie I think you're TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME!
- mickstephenson, on 07/07/2009, -1/+2I'd say that Trompe Le Monde is more of a frank black album, and that Teenager of the Year is more a follow up to Trompe Le Monde,
Personally, my favourite is "Show me your Tears". - yellowsnowcone, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1They are the best band of the 90s because they were ahead of their time!
- mlvassallo, on 07/08/2009, -0/+1Those who dug me down haven't seen or heard Kim attempt to sing anything in recent years.
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1I always like Kim's voice too. But > than Frank, I don't know.
- Eupatorus, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1What name are his new album's under? Frank Black? Black Francis?
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1I love you fat fred schneider.
- petebot, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1Weird. I've been on a big Pixies kick lately.
- bennjammin, on 07/07/2009, -1/+1It's alright, too much of the drama and not enough of the music.
- mlvassallo, on 07/07/2009, -3/+2Kim can't sing anymore sadly. Frank, however, is still rocking pretty hard.
- hyperblackchi, on 07/07/2009, -7/+2Fight Club...'Nough said
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -7/+1Kim > Frank
