you're welcome... - inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+15What if 10,000 people NEVER log on at the same time? WHAT THEN?
- ismoke, on 10/16/2007, -1/+14I wouldn't be cool if it wasn't for the hype machine.
- lofidan, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6I just checked out Deezer.com. Today I can discover "Beautiful Girls" by Sean Kingston (that's that turgid sampling of "Stand By Me" by Ben E. King you hear from any chavvy local pub DJ worth his salt), "Hey There Delilah" by everybody's favourite dullards that are played constantly on Radio 2 Plain White T's, "Who Knew" by the up and coming Pink, whoever she is, "1973" by James Blunt, another song I have only heard 3000 times, yadda yadda yadda.
At least Hype Machine gives me some new stuff I might not have heard, with the side effect of not making me put my fist through my monitor. I am sitting here with a slashed wrist from my broken monitor, and I've only just realised that I should have at least put my fist through the ***** SPEAKERS. Consequently I am lying here dying, when the ambulance turns up all they will hear is that appalling music on Deezer.com wafting out of the speakers. When they tell my parents that I am dead, do you know what they will play at my funeral? ***** 1973 by James Blunt, because it was obviously my favourite song, the one I put on when I "committed suicide".
I hate you. I HATE YOU!!! Everything thinks I listen to James Blunt now! - ampersand2001, on 10/16/2007, -0/+6come on, please digg this people....now I'm stuck listening to the death rattle of my co-workers
- Lunarphase, on 10/16/2007, -5/+9I find lots of cool music thanks to Hype Machine.
- notquiteallhere, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4Never fear, Neil Gaiman is bringing his enormous demographic to bear: http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/2007/10/why-writ ...
- iliketurtles2, on 11/20/2008, -0/+4Login at http://beta.hypem.com/
- jayatsnap, on 10/15/2007, -0/+4Whta a great viral marketing technique!
- keekee0305, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3I just found out about hypem a week ago. I will not come back if I have to check all day long to see how many people are on. There are too many web sites that will provide what I want without me having to watch and wait. Stop it hypem, I really like your site. I don't want to switch if I don't have to.
- btgoss, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3I agree with you. Hype Machine is great way to find new songs. If it ever comes back, do a search for "cover" or "acapella" you will find some weird *****.
I am not liking being held hostage. Deezer.com is just about as cool as HypeM, so I would change that 10K at once, to 10K a day really quick. - nytel, on 10/16/2007, -0/+3Don't believe the hype (is going to make it)
- reebz85, on 11/06/2007, -6/+8the Hype Machine is what made me cool.
- NyteStarNyne, on 10/16/2007, -1/+3Diggers! What is your occupation?!?
- macewen, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2visitors are dropping...they're not gonna make it!
- kungming2, on 10/16/2007, -0/+2Username: hype
password: hype - kungming2, on 10/15/2007, -0/+2From what I can see, it's now stuck at about 1300. People are coming in, then leaving.
- alec2792, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Christ! It better be worth it. 10 000 people is gonna take a day or two and I'd like music now, I'm getting restless :P
- nytel, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1ELBOWS!
- hunta, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1Please hype The Hype Machine!
- iguanapunk, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1You wish.
- djctown, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1It's up but so slowwwww.
- ephemerous, on 10/16/2007, -1/+2how about we all try and help save their integrity?
- kungming2, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1I have a feeling it's going to take longer than that. Right now it has hovered at 3300~3400 for three hours already. :( Just log in to the beta.
- samryan, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1You mean "profession".
- puddlegum, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1what?
- PeeCee, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1From hipsterrunoff.com:
"The new Hypemachine interface is so approachable, that even the tail end of Generation Y will 'get it.'"
Haha!
/Gen Y
//Why?? - tealeaves, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1that's sort of genius, don't you think? making such an easy password to block out the crazies...
- inactive, on 10/16/2007, -2/+3Then their attempt at free advertising fails, and they open anyway.
- PeeCee, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1For ironic purposes, though, they're on Mountain Standard Time...
- 0i0i0i, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1damn... I n33d traxxx. 10,000 is quite a lot of people. I hope they just give up.
- chime, on 10/15/2007, -0/+1The entire web page is the playlist. You can jump to any track. Search results play non-stop too.
- kungming2, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Woot! They finally abandoned the effort! They are now live!
Well, they never got past 3400, it seems. - PeeCee, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Holy ***** does James Blunt suck. My ex-girlf dragged me to his concert... I felt vindicated when she was the one that suggested we leave early.
Holy *****. Ugh.
PS: Don't tell anyone I went to see James Blunt. - kungming2, on 10/16/2007, -0/+1Now it went down from 3400 to 2800. Wow.
- sandyg, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1I'm sure you're cool, ismoke. As is everybody is who's digging this. I'm here because Neil asked me to, and as Neil is sort of my leader, here I be!
- mkw1342, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0the username and password is hype and 10000 users is nothing but. dont leave open a window, just use the pw. oh snap, just saw the same info below.
- KnitWit, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0if you're going to login - keep a window with the main page open too will ya? - let this thing reach critical mass - otherwise they'll keep changing the passwords
- foolproofplan, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1I wonder what happens if you open a lot of tabs of the same site...
- LegOfLamb, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1I won't visit your site until 10,000 people respond to this comment.
- hkalodimos, on 10/16/2007, -2/+2Keep in mind that it's only 7:30 here in the America (Central Time at least). Everyone knows hipsters don't blog until at least 10.
- zytonspyke, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1Where's Perez Hilton when you need him? This is taking forever.
- Idowhatiwant, on 10/16/2007, -1/+1Ugh dude this sucks
- expatcatalyst, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0Oh, thanks, I was having a withdrawal moment there, whew! Got in and am now cool again.....
- africa932003, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0Over-rated. I'm ready to switch. Check out ELBOWS .... www.elbo.ws
There are others ... maybe competition will force Hype Machine to live up to the hype ... - chubbyfunk, on 10/15/2007, -2/+2While you wait for that, open up another tab and put in: http://elbo.ws
- faraways0close, on 10/15/2007, -1/+1you can still stream music. just click the play button. also the "love" option makes it much easier to make custom playlists.
- receivefile, on 10/16/2007, -0/+0Or just set the counter to 10000.
- ianweller, on 10/15/2007, -0/+0i'm surprised that this still works...
