- Bmarofsky, on 02/04/2009, -2/+39I saw nothing to interact with, it was just a slide show.

- haentz, on 02/04/2009, -0/+15First impulse after I saw the wireframe image was dragging and turning it around. Didn't work...
- myotive, on 02/04/2009, -1/+16Ah... so that's why I can't afford one.
- Javy42, on 02/04/2009, -0/+14um this is how every acoustic is made...
- sfrench, on 02/04/2009, -0/+12Many of their guitars are real wood still. In fact, most of them are.
There are only a few models that have HPL backs and sides these models all belong to the "X" family (meaning they have an "X" in the model name) But everything else is all solid wood. - emecks, on 02/03/2009, -4/+13About the only thing this doesn't tell me is what the technical term for a guitar's hole is...

- Fragalishus, on 02/04/2009, -1/+7Jeez man, the dude was just asking a question. No need for all the name-calling.
- wakethefallen, on 02/04/2009, -4/+10That was vastly uninteresting
- sfrench, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6Martins from the 70's are generally regarded as sub-par.
1969 is the last year they used Brazillian Rosewood (which is now an endangered species) as a standard material for back and sides. This is why pre-1969 guitars are more valuable as collector pieces.
As far as collector pieces, the 1950's D-28s, while expensive, will probably continue to show appreciation on the investment.
That said, the guitars they are producing now are superb and given 60 years, I'm confident they will be in better shape and sound better than many of the highly collectible pre-1942 martins that go for anywhere from $20k-$100k now. - dave122, on 02/04/2009, -0/+5breedlove makes some great acoustics as well.
- RanIntoTheDevil, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4You made the whole thing up.
- supertom, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3Interactive slideshow?
- Rodik, on 02/04/2009, -1/+4it's amazing how the right "Graphic Interactivity" can turn something that boring into something slightly less boring.
- gimmeslack12, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3Compared to what exactly? Fit, finish, and action on my Martin is as good as any Santa Cruz or other $5000 guitar.
- noino1966, on 02/04/2009, -0/+3
Just checked those breedlove guitars out...I guess there is no accounting for taste...how are those snakeskin underwear suiting you...? - gimmeslack12, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I was torn between a J45 and a Jumbo Martin. Went with the Martin, though I still will one day own a J45.
- superterrorizer, on 02/04/2009, -1/+3Check out an Alverez Yairi, I love my martin, but I've got a yairi that gives it a run for it's money.
- madstringer, on 02/04/2009, -1/+3Martin's are beautiful.....but I prefer Taylors. Something about the sound...
- davidrools, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2the expensive martins are ugly.
- qwertyxuiop, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I would say sound quality is far more important than aesthetics
as for playability I do not know what you are talking about... mine plays quite nicely. - DubYaSee, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2Buy the best... Buy American.

- Chjohnsonbag, on 02/04/2009, -0/+2I have a Yairi as well, beautiful guitars, great sound and feel, not too easy to find though
- fallingdamage, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1should rename this to "How most acoustic guitars are made"
very bland descriptions - Kingfish1, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I would excommunicate that fan on the spot. Although, one could say that if you weren't going to hold onto that treasure, you got what was coming to you.
- goodvinboy, on 09/27/2009, -0/+1Really interesting...but I'd rather buy one
- skribble, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Ummm.... that a big Nope!
First *Most* Guitar Companies aren't American (Though tons of boutique guitar builders are cropping up), and of those, very few still 100% American Made (Though American made guitars tend to be the most expensive... $$!="Best").
For acoustic guitars some of the very best are traditionally Spanish (mostly classical) and there are a number of excellent Japanese Guitars built. I'll give Martin the nod for steel strings (for those who have an unlimited budget... there sub ~$1500 stuff ranges from ordinary to crap). Personally I prefer Taylors, love the sound, and the touch, but a case can be made for many (FYI Taylor tends to get knocked for modern production techniques vs. "hand built" this is BS). Also Gibson (though the company sucks and overall quality is dropping) on the high end makes a fine acoustic. - ASfinkterSezWut, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I clicked on this in my post-COD4-multiplayer induced haze thinking it said " MARTIAN " ...
Seriously disappointed by the "interactive graphics" even after I figured out there were no aliens ... just fat people and guitars . - HanSolo69, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I wonder how much Martin paid for that bit of advertising and if they really thought about whether this was really their best avenue.
- ppalumbo, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Yep. Best kept secret in high end guitars.
But Taylors have eaten Martin's lunch for years. - benplaut, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1If you had one, you'd know that there are plenty of mediocre Martins, and tons of fantastic guitars from many, many brands ;)
- benplaut, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Only the ones made out of wood :)
- uHaveASmallDigg, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I didn't make it up, but you'll never know will you...
@ davirools: I agree. I much prefer the plain old D28 or D35. - stonewaljacksn, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Taylors are so much better it's ridiculous.
- hamsuplo, on 02/04/2009, -0/+1I also recommend looking into Collings D2H or D2HA dreadnought's. Its all about the Pre-war bracing.
- leif77, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2A friend of mine works at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, CA and i went to work with him one day to just see the place and, for someone who plays guitar, it was ***** awesome... He's built guitars for John Mayer and did the Hendrix Monterey, SRV, and Yngwie Malsteem relics... his workstation is covered in autographed pics and such... ***** great... John Cruz... check his stuff out...
- allantan, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Larrivee Factory Tour - A lot more detail/depth for those interested:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQVEvJlTGaI&fea ... (1 of 5) - HarrisonBn, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1the "how it's made" for guitars is way better.
- JPrime07, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1that looks like the one that got punched during the superbowl commercials
- DubYaSee, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2and a former President named Bush is called an a-hole.
- dafragsta, on 02/04/2009, -2/+3Nobody is throwing Taylor's name into the mix? Taylor fullsize guitars resonate like a grand piano and almost sound amplified.
- pook187, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Larrivee, FTW!
- Jaydo, on 02/04/2009, -0/+1I had a 1964 Martin I inherited from an uncle of mine.
Had great sound, just not the type I was looking for when I played. Would've been perfect if I played a lot folk songs or classic rock tunes, but I don't.
Anyway, long story short: Jackass friend accidentally launched a longboard through my case and through the back of my guitar.
That guitar was going to help pay for my college. :( - cmerlo441, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1No way, man. Only good guitars are made by hand. There are lots of cheap POS's that are assembly-line produced, and they sound like crap.
I have been on a tour of the Martin factory near Nazareth, PA, which is really cool. You want to see people who take pride in their work, go there. - occularrifts, on 02/04/2009, -1/+2Sound hole
