'Hot, Hot Sex' Uploader Pulls Video From YouTube After Abuse

aol.com.au — The Italian blogger who uploaded what became the most watched YouTube video of all time says he decided to kill off his mega hit after he was subjected to a torrent of abuse from viewers on the Google-owned video sharing site. The year-old video, which had been viewed over 100 million, was deleted from the YouTube servers last weekend.

Once again, my position is that it's improbable, but possible. The truth is, I don't know what really happened. Surprised YouTube staff's not able to give a distinct answer either. They would be able to check traffic and see if the requests were one-time events or if those alleged users actually watched other videos previously and acted like real people.
    • Neticule, on 03/29/2008, -3/+7Actually, it was most likely a botnet. There are some HUGE botnets out there, and the people the control them are usually unknown. If you got your botnet of 100,000 pcs to load the video 1000 times each, boom, 100 million views. I guess google is fixing the way a view is counted, before (maybe still), just loading the page, without even viewing the video, would count as a "view".

      Youtube counts views as the HEAD request. I recommend that blog btw, I just discovered it this morning researching a spam problem I was having, and I was taken aback by the eloquence and cleverness of the community. That, coupled with their apparent gains had me thinking about joining the other side. Even if you don't agree with their methods you can learn from what they do.

Anyone ever hear of the Caesars before the 1st gen iPod shuffle commercial had "Jerk It Out" as the song? Remember the song "Cubicle" from Rinocerose? That was from a very early iTunes commercial. I really think "Are You Gonna Be My Girl?" by Jet took off with a lot of help from 3rd generation ad. Walkie Talkie Man became popular because of a 4G ad. "Technologic" was from a 4th gen commercial, and even very recently, Feist's "1234" now has become rather popular because of the 3G Nano commercials. Apple really seems to know how to pick potentially hit songs.
