- somberlaine, on 01/09/2009, -0/+20Hans Zimmer kicks ass.
also check out the soundtrack of Black Hawk Down. - BuddyDoQ, on 01/09/2009, -0/+19To be perfectly honest, the score to Batman Begins is much more fun to listen to. Although, the score to Dark Knight is by far the most ~suitable~ work of music that I've heard put against film in a long time. Gives me shivers every time I hear the Joker's "crying violin" noise/theme... just not something I want to put in my car on the way to work.
- AshamedAmerican, on 01/09/2009, -0/+18I always though the score at the end with the final confrontation with Two-Face was perfect.
It wasn't typical and climactic, it didn't build excitement or anticipation, it had a perfect tone of tragedy and hopelessness.
The music in the entire final scene conveyed exactly what it had to: that there was no way that situation was going to end well. - punchinelli, on 01/09/2009, -1/+19The Dark Knight's score is downright haunting. The music in the first 7 minutes or so with the bank robbery scene set the tone for the rest of the movie. That ***** had my heart rate up.
- Ja50n, on 01/09/2009, -0/+9and Gladiator
- Omek, on 01/09/2009, -0/+7Razor blades on string instruments... sweet. I thought they were just a synthesized sounds, but they actually physically recorded these. Awesomeness...
- DrunkenSavior, on 01/09/2009, -0/+7It used to irk me that they never gave Batman a theme like Supeman, Spiderman or Tim Burton's Batman theme. But now I love the more 'subtle' theme Batman has over those other themes, it suits him over those other Superheroes.
- poprocksandsoda, on 01/09/2009, -2/+9James Newton Howard ... Unbreakable ... epic music. This soundtrack is very, very good ... but it's a little uneven at times how Nolan patched it together. I'm still pissed that the CD doesn't have the structure of the movie. You need to mix 3 songs together to get the final part of the film. I hope they re-release a film version that lines up to the movie.
- ChillEnt, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5January 23! w00t!
- joshmoney, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5What about,
"Da Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Batman!
Da Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Batman!
Da Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Batman!
...BATMAN!" - DevSingh1359, on 01/09/2009, -0/+5The soundtrack for The Dark Knight was amazing and fit the tone of the movie perfectly. Hans Zimmer is beast.
- ernasty10050, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4I wish I could see the conductor's score to this. There are a few chords that really make me emotional.
- superterrorizer, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4Great Composer, The Dark Knight was such an improvement over Batman Begins, it's one of the few soundtracks I actually own.
- whatthefu, on 01/09/2009, -0/+4The Dark Knight's score is amazing. A lot of people miss how much of an impact it has when they first see the movie. If you watch it again, you'll notice how really well done it is. As the article says, they purposefully steered away from making a "kickass Batman theme" that people could hum, which I think was the right choice. I always thought Elfman's was somewhat mediocre, though it worked well with the Burton movies.
- Kragnerac, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Hans Gruber has jumped ship, gotten off the radar, dyed his hair pitch black, and is now working as a teacher at some wizard school.
- aviazn, on 01/09/2009, -0/+3Even though Badelt's name is credited for the first Pirates score, it wouldn't be a stretch to say it's essentially Zimmer's score. He wrote most of the themes and "set the tone" (as he puts it) before handing the individual cues off to Badelt (and the rest of the composers at his studio).
"Klaus is a wonderful composer, but I couldn't help myself from writing many of the tunes, and then I sort of orchestrated the way those tunes would sound as well, setting the tone. Klaus wrote some more tunes and with our tunes wrote the score, and Blake Neely, Geoff Zanelli, and everyone else went at it."

- AirRaven, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3I can't stand the score, personally.
It's *horrible* to listen to- despite being ridiculously appropriate for the film.
It sticks in your head, but throughout it just feels... Well- soulless?
It has an empty feeling that gets to me.
Certainly not a *bad* soundtrack, by any measure, but I've heard much better.
Unbreakable, for one. - Dorian822, on 01/09/2009, -1/+3Hans did a good job with James Newton Howard, but most of his scoring for the 2nd and 3rd Pirate movies was just awful. Klaus Bedalt should have remained. Otherwise, I really like Zimmer's track record.
- stelman1, on 01/16/2009, -0/+1Hans Zimmer is one of my favorites. And dark knight is one of my favorite movies.
- 0tis, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1I got the impression that it's meant to sound "soulless" and "empty" - for me, that highlighted what was scariest about the Joker. One of the things that made the character so scary was the sheer absence of any visible motivation for the things he does, and I think the sparseness of the soundtrack really complemented that.
- Sunsneezer, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1Remember the the from "The Rock"? It was great then. But now it's getting on my nerves when I hear it in Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Island, The Road to El Dorado, etc. It's as if the directors keep asking for "dadada da-DUDUM. dadada da-DUDUM- DUDUMM". To his credit, he didn't do it in The Dark Knight though.
- cfrog7, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1they just released a brand new 2 disc collectors disc
http://www.thedarkknightscore.com/
it has 50 minutes of unreleased music and 4 remixes + a 40page hardbound book - 0tis, on 01/20/2009, -0/+1Doesn't make it a bad soundtrack, but I see your point. That one-note theme for the Joker is fantastic.
- themastersb, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1***** you.
- anyup, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1No, there's no need. These are perfectly all right.

- hyderalamgir, on 01/09/2009, -0/+1The Last Samurai
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -0/+0almost every hans zimmer soundtrack is a incredible soundtrack
- BobFromReboot, on 01/09/2009, -0/+0Transcribe them then?
- farmertomato, on 01/10/2009, -1/+1What a ***** score! Some of it sounds like entry-level looping of factory samples, repeated way beyond the tolerance level. Hack work for a hack movie. How much boredom can we take? Feh.
- BowieX, on 01/09/2009, -3/+2Yeah, but John Williams pwns all other composers, period.
I'd like to see Zimmer one day pull off a War of the Worlds, Revenge of the Sith, Memoirs of a Geisha and a Munich at 70-odd, with two Oscar nominations, all in one year.
I get the feelings Zimmer is mostly in it for the money and will retire soon... - DarkBlueAnt, on 01/09/2009, -2/+1I'm sorry but the new Batman films have horrible music. It tries so hard to be "deep" but has no substance. It's insultingly snobby. Read the titles of the tracks.
- RedStateRetard, on 01/09/2009, -4/+2Am I the only who thinks of DieHard every time I hear the name Hans?
Hans, bubbie...I'm your Dark Knight. - inactive, on 01/09/2009, -2/+0what the hell are you smoking
- samson7842, on 01/09/2009, -4/+2I prefer the Elfman theme. It's iconic like Superman, Star Wars and the Bond themes.
That is the only thing I feel they should have carried over into the new films.Batman should have an instantly recognizable dramatically striking, but simple, melody. Elfman's work accomplished that.
I can't for the life of me recall, let alone hum, the new score for the Nolan Batman films. - fuzzymuzzy, on 01/09/2009, -13/+1The game
