- Xihix, on 11/27/2008, -0/+111This leads to believe the only reason they actually finally released the album was so fans would get a free Dr. Pepper.
- schwindz, on 11/26/2008, -5/+103i love dr pepper
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -8/+92Dr. Pepper responded by saying: "The album still sucks".
- balibones, on 11/26/2008, -10/+67Uhhh... Did you hear those songs? I thought it was a joke. Axel's voice really flew out the window.
- badwithcomputer, on 11/26/2008, -2/+52i was waiting for this lawsuit
- MadSins, on 11/26/2008, -7/+56axl is a HACK
- Thekillingjoke, on 11/26/2008, -5/+38Dr pepper is an evil empire designed to enslave us all with sugar and deliciousness, Axel you certainly are the hero we need.
- cuppyCake, on 11/27/2008, -0/+31'Blasts' is one of those headline verbs I hate. Really, the lawyer criticized them. He didn't vaporize them with high explosives. CNN is the worst offender -- everyone blasts everyone else according to CNN (sounds dirty).
- rehabdrew571, on 11/27/2008, -7/+37umm....
http://digg.com/music/Dr_Pepper_to_deliver_on_its_ ... - MidnightRIder77, on 11/27/2008, -0/+30I'm pretty pissed about this as well. I could never get the website or phone line to work. Dr. Pepper is far from following through on it's promised whenever a large percentage of people wanting a free Dr. Pepper can't get one.
- Headinawheel, on 11/27/2008, -4/+33Of course, only a lawyer would sue somebody because of positive publicity on a music album.
Next: Their lawyer sues Dr. Pepper over their lack of sales because it's "Obvious" that the "Coupon Fiasco" killed their album sales!
/sigh - inactive, on 11/27/2008, -2/+27In related news, Dr. Pepper has offered to give every american a free soda if Metallica promises to NOT release their next album.
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -2/+27This reads like an Onion article.
- pandorazboxx, on 11/27/2008, -0/+22i tried to do that, but it was stuck forever and never gave me my coupon :(
- CoreyTamas, on 11/27/2008, -1/+21"You failed to deliver on a promised item when you said you would."
...that's a bold card for Guns N Roses to play. - Sinnocent, on 11/27/2008, -0/+18Same here. The site was borked ALL DAY. Impossible to claim your free coupon. What a sham.
- vectorlord, on 11/27/2008, -2/+17The Chinese called Dr. Pepper and said "Democracy will never be released."
- trotskyist, on 11/27/2008, -2/+17Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper is the best thing to happen to the world since ever.
- imacmike, on 11/27/2008, -2/+16So if a company makes bad (but completely true) press about your client, you draw more attention to it by threatening them publicly? That sounds like a winning strategy.
I'd rather live in a world without Guns 'N roses than live in a world without Dr. Pepper. - ashfish, on 11/27/2008, -3/+16Wait wait wait, so they didn't think to start this law suit until after they had finished the CD, which by that time Dr. Pepper had made it abundantly clear that this was what they were going to do. Why wait this long to file it? Why not start a stink when you first heard about it? Oh that's right, because it gave free advertising to a band that no one has heard hide nor hair of in YEARS. Bunch of douchebags.
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -1/+14i'd ***** a dr. pepper.
you know. if i was another dr. pepper. - inactive, on 11/26/2008, -3/+15100% Poser
- trotskyist, on 11/27/2008, -1/+13It's Mr. Pibb, actually
- Games4Life, on 11/27/2008, -5/+17Dr. Pepper > Chinese Democracy
- mmittimm, on 11/27/2008, -4/+15***** ingrates... There's probably been more hype due to this promotion than the actual album release. They should be thanking Dr. Pepper.
- Markers, on 11/27/2008, -0/+10He's the 90s version of Kanye West. Every generation needs its douche bag.
- dogstylee, on 11/27/2008, -1/+11Just like every website that gets cripped under the Digg Effect or gets Slashdotted "***** it up so badly" huh.
'Anyone that wants to claim a free soda come to our website', so you clampets stampede there by the million then whine when you overload it. - markbosky, on 11/27/2008, -1/+11I tried multiple times both days and was unable to access the page. I would like to sue for my free can of Dr. Pepper
- lemur, on 11/27/2008, -0/+10It is peculiarly good, isn't it? It's way more delicious than the cherry/vanilla combos in the cola world.
- austenw, on 11/27/2008, -3/+13QQ more Axl Rose. You haven't produced anything worth listening to in YEARS. At least you got a little extra attention with this.
- dreicher, on 11/27/2008, -1/+11Put the soda down and s-l-o-w-l-y back away, please.
- tech42er, on 11/27/2008, -1/+10The issue is apparently not just that Dr. Pepper held the promotion, but that they ***** it up so badly.
- Aryding, on 11/27/2008, -2/+11***** Chinese Democracy, I want my damn DR. PEPPER!
- MarkCiccone, on 11/27/2008, -7/+16I just wanted to say that Guns N' Roses has always sucked, this new album is just the cherry on top of a ***** sundae. ***** this band. Dr. Pepper is delicious. Thanks.
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -1/+10along with his mind...
- terracottapai, on 11/27/2008, -0/+9And the rest of the band..
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -0/+9Good story.
- Sinnocent, on 11/27/2008, -2/+10Couldn't even get their site to work 90% of the time the "promotion" was happening. Never could log in and receive the coupon. Seemed like a sham... and a shame.
- krd1979, on 11/27/2008, -1/+9FYI Dr. Pepper is not owned by Coca-Cola. It's owned by Dr. Pepper/Snapple.
- Barackalypse, on 11/27/2008, -1/+8Had you read the article, you would have found out that the site was crushed under the load and unavailable. Its roughly akin to offering free ice cream to the entire city of Chicago and having only 1 guy scooping.
- Chirp08, on 11/27/2008, -1/+8Axl Rose != Guns N' Roses
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -0/+7Appetite for Destruction is awesome, ***** you MarkCiccone.
- inactive, on 11/27/2008, -1/+7Um, did you guys try to get your Dr. Pepper? I for one couldn't get it. I mean, yeah, it's really stupid that Axl's lawyer is suing but...I want my goddamn dr. pepper.
- freqk, on 11/27/2008, -1/+7Dr. Pepper is the best drink ever.
Dugg for Dr. Pepper. - inactive, on 11/27/2008, -3/+9Dr Pepper probably heard the new album realized it was *****, and stopped the offer. I can't blame them
- rheaume, on 11/27/2008, -0/+6But.. but.. the internet told you to hate it years ago! Why didn't you listen like all these other tards?
- MavRevMatt, on 11/27/2008, -1/+7I got mine, and so did a friend. My dad also called their phone number after the extension to the offer ended and they still gave him one 'cause he kept bitching.
It was still a failure since they were down for the majority of 36 hours. - four6three, on 11/27/2008, -2/+8Dr. Pepper + Red Vines = CRAZY DELICIOUS
- TheCollective00, on 11/27/2008, -0/+6I lived in Waco TX once, but they burned down my house ;_;
- dudefaceguyman, on 11/27/2008, -0/+5The coupons are available until February, the problem is it was virtually impossible to get them.
Whether or not you like Dr. Pepper. You gotta admit, this was smart advertising on their part. They didn't have to sponsor GNR yet road on the massive buzz Chinese Democracy made.
With that said. I love Dr Pepper and I love GNR. They both just kinda ***** up here. Dr. Pepper kinda halfassed their coupon thing, and the GNR lawyer is a royal dick head. -
