- Zinite, on 05/24/2008, -0/+2Dear Allegra,
Critics are supposed to be biased. How else would they review something? By just reporting that it came out?
Thanks,
Zinite - TLCGraphics, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3I had no idea! Quality musicians + quality vocals = quality CD... too bad critics can't do the math.
- soaring, on 05/25/2008, -2/+3Article should read....
"Somebody creates 30 digg accounts to suck Clay Aiken's Dick" - Zinite, on 05/24/2008, -3/+4Lol... 30 comments from people who made their account to digg this article. Bury this *****.
- amzn, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3Steely Dan is one of my all time favorites. Going to have to check out Aiken's new CD.
I have always like Aiken's voice so it will be interesting to see how this album has come together.
I don't put much store in what critics have to say. I know if I like something or not. - Stingray53, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3That's an amazing roster of talent on Aiken's CD. I'm impressed.
- tulsatime, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3Critics seem to be lazy .... don't they.
I've heard the CD .... it is GOOD. The musicians rock ... have always loved Steely Dan too.
Rock on Clay Aiken & Steely Dan !! - CaughtUp, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3This just proves why I have NEVER given much credence to anything a so called "critic" has to say about anything. I prefer to make my own decision about whether or not I like something. Steely Dan has always been one of my favorite bands. Clay Aiken has a pretty amazing voice. No one can deny that. Nice to see him choose such respected musicians for his latest CD.
- mamamariam, on 05/24/2008, -2/+3I listened to the full CD on AOL music, this is the kind of music I love, beautiful song arrangements and great lyrics and voice!
- WJones31, on 05/24/2008, -3/+3Impressive list of musicians. Thanks for linking to myspace. I like what I'm hearing.
- meliores, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2After reviewing/panning albums that haven't even been finished yet, let alone released, the critics have reached an all-time low this year!
These extremely talented musicians combined with Clay's voice make for a very impressive CD. - VickieED, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2After that magazine was busted for reviewing a CD that had not even been made available to critics yet, I thought I knew the score. But this is an even bigger eye-opener.
- bruno31405, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2The critics trashed them? WTF? These guys rock!
- jbdramey, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2I am really impressed. I knew I loved this CD for more than just the great voice.
- wiley14u, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Steely Dan Rocks, their sound is as distinctive as is Clay Aiken's voice. I need to hear this album. I hope they sound good together.
Thanks for the information, I had no idea. - pupchick, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Just goes to show you that most critics don't do their research. Clay has cream of the crop musicians on this CD and it shows to anyone who has an ear for great music!
- Vickielee123, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Impressive list of studio musicians. It just goes to show how little music critics actually know about music.
- 1ally, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2I knew I liked the sound of this cd. thanks for all the info
- mhmom, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2The critics really trashed this CD? Apparently they haven't listened to it! Love the music, love the lyrics. Clay Aiken and the musicians have a hit here!
- Shug777, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Nce to see good musicians paired up with good new and interiesting singers
- rxmom01, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2That's a lot of info about the background of this CD! With the talents of Clay's voice and the studio musicians, hopefully this CD will go far! I absolutely love each and every track.
- Hamptonbch, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2 As a Steely Dan fan this is a great tidbit of info to come across. Great album.
- MollyO2, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2When I first heard this cd I thought the musicians were exceptionally good but did no realize who they were so thanks for the info! I love this cd and Clay Aiken sounds really good too. He is a very versatile artist. I wish someone would do a whole article about critics and the way they critique movies, the theatre, concerts and cds without bothering to listen or stay past the first act! They are entitled to their opinion even if it doesn't agree with mine but they should at least be unbiased and honest.
- pegi, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Gee, critics trashed the music on this album?. Just another example of how irrelevant most music critics have become. I can't remember the last time I bought an album based on a critic's review. Most of the time they don't even make sense.
- suziebird7, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2My ex is a drumming freak! Can't wait to share the Keith Carlock information with him and suggest that he listen to On My Way Here. With these great musicians on this album, no wonder that it sounds so good.
- darcy11, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Love Steely Dan, can't say the same for some critics especially those who can't bother to take the time to view, or listen to the subject of said review. There's been many a time I've read a film critique, gone to see the film and had a completely different response. It's a loss if anyone follows the negative album reviews and misses out on some pleasurable listening.
- dakota24, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Thanks so much for this information. I really love this CD.
- liney23, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Wow... I have long been a fan of Steely Dan. Cool that so many Steely Dan musicians are on this cd. Critics just seem to try to be cool and hip and don't really talk about the music anymore. They're supposed to help you find good music. Not any more, I guess. Wonder why they get paid???
- amzn, on 05/24/2008, -1/+1Steely Dan is one of my all time favorites. Going to have to check out Aiken's new CD.
I have always like Aiken's voice so it will be interesting to see how this album has come together.
I don't put much store in what critics have to say. I know if I like something or not. - cheekybird, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Just heard the complete CD on AOL and it's AWESOME. Just more proof that "critics" are overrated. Who needs them when we all have the means to hear the music ourselves on the Internet? Sounds like typical politics to me.
- macmom, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Clay Aiken deserved the best -- and he got it in these musicians. It's a great CD both for vocals and music.
- sharmardo, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Both my husband and I are huge Steely Dan fans so to see this information that they were so involved with OMWH and Clay Aiken, is just an added bonus. The cd "On My Way Here" is a musical masterpiece - vocals and music. For any critics to slam this cd only proves they didn't listen or they let their bias write it for them.
Extremely impressive all the way around. Fantastic cd - Joy2talk2U, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Wow..totally impressive. Makes you wonder what the "critics" were listening to.....
- atsamee, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Thanks for the heads up! Sounds awesome! Who knew?
- maxwellfluffy, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2There is great musicianship and depth to this CD. But you have to listen to it to know that and still have eardrums that aren't blown out. congrats to all who had a part in the making of On My Way Here!
- inactive, on 05/24/2008, -3/+3Who the ***** has this much time to make these accounts and write up all these comments.
- Divayenta, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Steely Dan- saw them last year at Wolf Trap. I've been a lifelong fan, and wow, they were beyond awesome in concert. The ultimate jazz rock fusion band ,IMO. Aiken's a lucky man! Some "critics" are hire-ons for their local rags- they may not do the research. This definitely needs to go out. What are the Brecker Bros. up to these days? I loved their sound. I remember Michael McDonald saying they scared him to death when he had to play with them, he was so in awe.
- Racquette, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0Thanks for including links. I like some of the songs. I'm definitely not hearing a canned background if that's what they're saying. Seems like a lot of music critics these days either don't seem to know their stuff or just don't bother though. I guess if you just 'phone it in' or have the big ego to think your own personal tastes define good v bad, then sooner or later you're going to look like a complete idiot over something like this.
- roxannejs, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Wow, I had no idea! I've always liked Clay's voice. I didn't know he had a new CD. I hope it's a huge success. He deserves it!
- akcmom, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2That's quite an impressive list of studio musicians...a lot of talent there.
I've listened to this cd and it's definitely got something for everyone. I sometimes wonder if the critics are listening to the same cd that I am listening to. If ever there was a Clay Aiken cd that is NOT bland...this is it. I highly recommend it both for the voice AND the music. - imagine33, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Very interesting. I always like hearing what's "behind the music."
- Celadon31, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2This was fantastic -- great information here! Love both Steely Dan and Clay Aiken and how cool that Kipper brought them together. Definitely picking up this CD, maybe more than one copy.
- acoustic77, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Interesting read. If everyone in the industry listened to the critics, no one would be creating or buying music any more. Those who can, do.... those who can't, criticize.
- kozy1, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Great information and GREAT talent on this CD.
- gaymarie1, on 05/24/2008, -2/+2Excellent CD, no wonder I love it so much!
