Very cool site... very dumb people - iceman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats because you're doing the search in the "artist" section. Click on the "song" section and enter "It's a boy". Or type in "Who, The" in the artist. The site says they have over 160,000 song titles.
- marshall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Check this out, do a search for “%” in the “song” section. Comes up with all songs… there is a limit set to 3,000 though but it looks like they have 167,038 songs. NOT BAD! Most lyrics sites have about that much.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally, it works. I must say, this is very impressive. I used to always use LyricsFreak until they were down half the time, then Sing365. Finally I gave up and used Google to search for lyrics. Most of the site sucked. This site is really fast (after the digg effect wore off :) ) and even has Pink Floyd's really early singles (Apples and Oranges, Point Me At The Sky, Candy and a Currant Bun...).
This one definitely goes on my bookmarks bar. - odysseus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It can't find any way out west lyrics.
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gotta give them props, even though it could use a more extensive database. i use google all the time when i need to find out the artist or song name of something that gets stuck in my head. i might jump to their site for songs that are/were mainstream, because they'll probably have it and i won't have to weed through google search results to find the right song
of course, for the underground stuff, they probably don't have it. but those take multiple refined google searches to track down, which must be done on a case-to-case basis. if you hear a song that you know has hit the billboard charts or has a music video, but can't quite remember who made it or what it's called, lyricsfly can probably help you out. - DaveHimself, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0googles music search works much better. This site lacks the ability to search for a chunk lyrics like "as well as in bombay." You have to know either the band or the song and thats just silly. Usually im flying blind with some snippet of the lyrics.
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I put "let it be" in and got nothing back. lol
- EyeDye, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No Butthole Surfers, no digg!
- dael, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0almost none of my favorite artists (in the Industrial & Ambient Genres) are in the DB.. sucks
in a few months it might be worth trying again - Kiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah i want something where i can search lrics ive for sonngs ive forgotten the names of, and it wasnt so good at that, sans digg.
- BigBill62629, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now, I am able try it and it looks good although I had to edit the lyrics of McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed"
- Dummies102, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"SUCKS! I did three searches for old Doors tunes. None of them returned the Doors. Try it yourself. Either their database is limited to only the music they like or it just plain sucks."
I found about 3 pages of the doors. try searching under songs - Galaeron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0RIAA's next victim
Cool site though ++digg - Blitzenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0SUCKS! I did three searches for old Doors tunes. None of them returned the Doors. Try it yourself. Either their database is limited to only the music they like or it just plain sucks.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This just got put up a few seconds ago:
"Currently searches might be slow. Apparently, we're on digg.com and getting a huge traffic wave."
Maybe I should try back in a few hours... - NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is great! I can't believe I never noticed something like this before. Dugg!
- djlysuc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting, the registrant has concelaed their whois info with protectfly.com
- simX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ugh. Crappy database. Lame.
- osuadh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0doesn't even have green day's american idiot on there. come on, it won a grammy and the lyrics aren't on there? lame
- dude5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Google actually has a specialized music search already"
Yeah... and once you search they point you to a website with so many ads you can't stop them from popping up.
I like this site. They have NO ads and all lyrics are found on their site. They even have a nice print view.
If you can't find the title you're looking for, help them out, if you find it somewhere else, submit it so others can find it. After a few months this site will be awesome. - rsxtc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool site, but not complete. Missing songs and albums from two searches I did.
- ZeroKelvin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google actually has a specialized music search already:
http://www.google.com/musicsearch - daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like these lyrics sites. My tivo has music player with built in lyrics search tool and it's like a trailer-trash karaoke machine. -DUGG
- BBryan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ehh, nice try. would be better if they had artists
- mim2000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0nice simple ajax lyrics suggest http://www.singit.info
- jaredvolkl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so far so good i am happy i would suggest adding guitar tabs and with would be something i love but very happy
@40bslove
I don't think this would really work for guitar tabs as you'd have to try and enter TAB into an input field. It just doesn't work. It would be cool though, kind of like having the computer write a song for you. - Metal_Guru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not a big DB, but nice Digg anyhow... and bookmarked!
Just remember to choose "Artist", "Song" etc. or you won't get the right results... looks like some here have not realised that. ;) - mape, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Are you kidding me? "The digg effect.." Its google we are talking about..
- 40bslove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so far so good i am happy i would suggest adding guitar tabs and with would be something i love but very happy
- path411, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Barely any good songs listed. Would be nice if good, large wikipedia type site came out for lyrics where people could add song lyrics.
- SniperZero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why don't we all make a stand get together with everyone and take over the damn riaa fkers!!... I mean why don't we set the standards WTF is with them saying we can't even get lyrics of the net like WTF!!!... next we wont even be able to tell someone the damn freaking song names.
Near future: You have been detected singing this song name in your head. See you in court.
>_>.... pretty sad.... we should just kill them all !!!!!
my 2 Penny's :) - Canuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I tried "Radar Love" under the song category. It tooks just under 14 seconds to come back with nothing.
- dude5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They say they have 16k titles... thats not shallow to me.
- lordwow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kind of sad when the Four Tops get 0 results. No Digg.
- GodfreyDaniel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Database is very shallow and appears to have been compiled by a 15 year old. But it's new and will likely get more comprehensive. Good idea.
- Dummies102, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I tried "Radar Love" under the song category. It tooks just under 14 seconds to come back with nothing."
that's because the song's not called "radar love", it's "radar for love" - invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0after reading through some of the other posts, i must add:
the RIAA /*probably*/ won't be after them. it's the MPA (Music Publisher's Association) that's spewing out legal threats at tablature & lyrics sites. PART of their argument is that giving away free tabs and lyrics compete against printed products sold by the copyright owners. - wbxhc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Not a lot of songs in the DB.
- JiMiThInG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Cool site. Slow as hell at the moment, via the Digg effect but worth bookmarking IMHO
- Crazyguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I love when sites post that they are on digg.
"Currently searches might be slow. Apparently, we're on digg.com and getting a huge traffic wave." - goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It looks very good, but it's going really slow right now.
- gklitt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So, how many minutes before it's shut down by the RIAA?
- BigBill62629, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0digg effect -very, very slow
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0THanks :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Careful, the RIAA is suing sites like this now. When will it end?
- soviet007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0works for me... very cool
- scairborn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I just use Google to look up lyrics. Type in Lyrics "Born in the USA" and then you get the lyrics. Also works if i was to put in part of the lyrics into the search instead of the title. lyrics "fishin' out my heart. You're never gonna get your hands on this again!" returns Saves the Day - Holly Hox and Forget Me Nots
- RickTomson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ummm... it does suggest smickles.
very cool site. - teh_toaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0It's handy, but not enough classic rock in the DB for me. For instance, George Thorogood and the Detroyers, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show,
