- richiewrt, on 07/15/2009, -1/+22Since when is copyright infringement a criminal offense? This is BS!
- blackninja543, on 07/15/2009, -0/+17This is why we cant have nice things.
- lazyslacker, on 07/15/2009, -1/+15What about Galaxy News Radio?
- oxymoron69, on 07/15/2009, -0/+13Free or not, I don't want it.
- boombume, on 07/15/2009, -0/+9Obviously the RIAA and the Enclave are in cahoots.
- 5ean, on 07/15/2009, -5/+13***** the RIAA!
- SpruceCaboose, on 07/15/2009, -2/+9I am 24 and I listen to classic rock. Is there some mandate that says either 1) Older music is less good due to age or 2) That you have to be from the era of the music to enjoy it?
Not that I would buy any GnR album now (it hardly seems right calling them GnR), but Appetite for Destruction is still one of the greatest metal albums around, and it is still very much amazing music. - twiztidsinz, on 07/15/2009, -0/+6I would buy it.... But the RIAA and now even individual labels (See: Warner) make me not want to fund them.
I'll pay for concert tickets... I'll pay for overpriced shirts...
I will not longer pay for albums on labels that support the RIAA. - reed311, on 07/15/2009, -1/+7It has been for quite some time. Take a look at the copyright code: http://www.copyright.gov/title17/92chap5.html#506
Section 506 Criminal offenses.
"(1) In general. — Any person who willfully infringes a copyright shall be punished as provided under section 2319 of title 18, if the infringement was committed —
(C) by the distribution of a work being prepared for commercial distribution, by making it available on a computer network accessible to members of the public, if such person knew or should have known that the work was intended for commercial distribution."
The FBI was involved because this was a clear violation of part C of that section of copyright law. - CalcProgrammer1, on 07/15/2009, -0/+6I'm 19 and I like classic rock. I don't care for most of new rock, especially really heavy death metal and such, but I actually thought the new GnR album was OK, not as good as their old stuff though.
- jinxation, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5...Of course the upload caused harm! It's G&R. People are going deaf everywhere.
- Zarokima, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5At least they didn't get Three Dog.
- Jaq524, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4House arrest, dude, RTFA.
His cornhole should be safe, unless of course he's got the roommate from hell O_O - Jaq524, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3Everyone's an idealist/martyr until they're facing jailtime for a law they *actually broke*.
Sure it might suck, but we still don't have a right to do what he did in this country.

(from reed311 above) - FredFredrickson, on 07/15/2009, -2/+5What, people over 40 can't listen to music now? What a ***** stupid rant.
- TyrannyofBell, on 07/16/2009, -0/+3This needs to be stated plain and simple... If you steal such terrible ***** music from someone as bloated and self absorbed as Axl Rose and the ***** that aided him in getting this trash produced and out to the world; you deserve to spend some time thinking about what you've done.
- 8FoldPath, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3Two months house arrest? Hell, that sounds like a fine vacation to me.
- TyrannyofBell, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2I'll digg your comment cuz you tried your little heart out...
- nickem, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3> Will produce propaganda film.
If I were him, I would stick to my rights, When it comes time to doing a video, I would never ever lie, not for anyone, not for anything, not ever. It's not something anyone could force me to do, except maybe water boarding my ass. Then it's a different situation. - IADTatami, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3Winston had won the victory over himself.
- shadowspawn, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3I (maybe, just sayin) downloaded it, then bought it for someone. I didn't really like it, and if I did like it I would've bought it for myself. But I knew someone else did like it after hearing it, and bought the album for them.
To be honest the songs wouldn't be worth the space on my drive so it's been way gone if I would've done it. - inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2He got off pretty lightly I think, compared to many other cases.
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 07/15/2009, -5/+7Ah, ah
Is it true
What they say of you
Gonna call the President
Gonna call a Private Eye
Gonna get the IRS
Gonna need the FBI
There's not anymore that I can do
All the reasons that you gave
I'd follow you
To where you'd lead and if that be the end of time its true
Wouldnt be the first time I been WRONG
Wouldnt be the last I'M SURE, I've Known
With all the rumors I could tell,
Some things didn't work so well
Well anyway, it feels the same
As when you first told me you were gone,
So long ago but I still held on
Through all the Motions, the Love and the Sex
And thats the truth, and here's the worst yet
Would it even matter the things that I'd say
You made your mind up and gone anyway
And there's no use now in dragging it on
Should've seen it coming all along
Well it’s true....ooh....I had,
My doubts of you
Gonna call the President
Gonna call myself a Private Eye
Gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI
Gonna make this a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face
Read it baby with your morning news
With a sweet hangover
And the headlines too, now
Ah ah
I bet you think I'm doing this all for my health
I should've looked again babe at somebody else
Feelin' like I'm done way more than wrong
Feelin' like I'm livin' inside of this song
Feelin' like I'm just too tired to care
Feelin' like I done more than my share
Could it be the way that I carried on
Like a broken record for so long
And I do
Ooh, oh,
I'm Gonna call the President,
I'm gonna call a private Eye
Gonna get the IRS,
Gonna need myself the FBI.
Oooh, What shall I do,
If I gave my heart to you?
It's such a crime you know it's true
Gonna call the president
Gonna need myself a private eye
Ooh, gonna need the IRS
Gonna get the FBI
Gonna make it a federal case
Gonna wave it right down in your face
Read it baby with your morning news
With a sweet hangover and the headlines too
There's not anymore that I can do - inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2America went to war over Bananas why should Guns and Roses be any different! Nothing extreme there...
- Jaq524, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Don't know how anyone could digg you down; you answered the OP's question pretty clearly. Like it or not, this is what the law says.
- lazyslacker, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2I wonder if the FEV is a form of DRM...
- AbominableHoman, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2If Guns N' Roses headlined (or opened) for U2 rock would be dead(er).
- hamholio, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2I see what you did there!
- L0NER, on 07/15/2009, -3/+42 months for *that album*
sorry buddy, watch your cornhole - dalittle, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3And now he is an online martyr to everything that is wrong with corporate music. Nice job RIAA, you blew it again.
- lhbaker, on 07/15/2009, -1/+2Yeah, God forbid I should be able to sample the merchandise. It might suck.
- lhbaker, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3I downloaded it early, and as a result I didn't buy it, but only because I didn't like it. I figured the few good songs would get enough airplay for me to tire of it quickly, and I was right.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/15/2009, -1/+2There's nothing wrong with classic bands...but there's something wrong when classic bands make music 20 years after their prime (save for a few exceptions).
- alexsabree, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1I'm 17 and I find it somewhat enjoyable. There's only one song on there that I really listen to, but its still a decent CD.
Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean others don't. - AbominableHoman, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1It's a very interesting CD. The biggest hit against Chinese Democracy is that it's not radio friendly. If you have the time and patience (maybe a little ganj) it's good listen.
- sinrtb, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Since today.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1GNR is not metal. Awesome rock (or at least used to be), yes, but not metal.
- ProfessorRiffs, on 07/15/2009, -1/+2Stop it.
- mr138, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1You guys have pretty ***** taste in music if you plan on picking this up.
Seriously, it's ***** ***** rock. These guys are a joke, and Axl Rose is a whiny bitch.
BURYING ME WON'T BURY THE TRUTH! - mr138, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1I currently have more diggs then you, so it can't be that stupid of a rant.
- jsp123, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1Three Dog, bow wow wow
- Tiak, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1You would seem to be a special case though, it would seem that for everyone else, quite a bit of harm was done to the sales. There are plenty of hapless people who would''ve bought the boxed ***** the RIAA was trying to sell us if this guy hadn't illegally shown us photocopies of said *****.
- mr138, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1It isn't metal, classic, or awesome rock. It's spandex wearing ,cod piece sporting, big hair ***** rock.
- TyrannyofBell, on 07/16/2009, -1/+2You're comment reeks of *****. I can tell you with great certainty; and so can anyone with half a brain in their skull; having never heard this album... that it is complete ***** rank trash.
Just because you ended up paying for 2 of the 247 or so albums that you have illegally downloaded, doesn't make you some kind of moral file sharer. - TyrannyofBell, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1How about I download an image of bbliss17 attempting to run across a freeway!
- SpruceCaboose, on 07/15/2009, -0/+0Sorry, I use metal as a generic term. I know its wrong, but I am lazy.
- anonymous10, on 07/20/2009, -0/+0There would be so much douchery in one place, I fear aliens would intervene and blow the stage clean off the earth for mankind's own good.
- anonymous10, on 07/15/2009, -3/+3Pity the album was a load of ***** they've been holding onto for their comeback. They should get together with U2 and blow each other off in the Valley Of Has Beens From When Anybody Cared About What's On MTV.
- FredFredrickson, on 07/16/2009, -2/+1Downloading the entire thing is not sampling. It's stealing,
- TyrannyofBell, on 07/16/2009, -2/+1And the award for pointing out the most ***** obvious thing ever in the history of ***** obvious goes to...
but seriously, no seriously now... copyright infringement is an infringement? Good golly! Does that mean it's illegal? -
