- Fieri, on 10/10/2007, -4/+33I've heard a couple tracks in advance (Deliverance of the Heart is AWESOME) and this thing looks absolutely beautiful. Even the album and CD artwork is unbelievable.
A huge bow and heartfelt thanks to the OCR community for this FREE gem of a music album. Waiting with anticipation.- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -21/+2Final Fantasy 7 nearly has the worst soundtrack of the series (pretty much only FF1 and FFX-2 are worse). They should have gone with Final Fantasy 4, 6 or 8. If they really wanted to be creative, they could have gone with Final Fantasy 11, the most underrated of the series as far as soundtracks are concerned.
- Malarie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8You fail so much. Everytime i watch the FF7 Tech Demo and i hear the music i almost have a tear in my eye (so to speak)
- LocalDocal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I dug you up for that. The same is absolutely true for me. Even though I only played through FFVII about three or four times (which is actually more than most other games I played), I can recognize almost any track the moment they play. If I don't, however, the thought eats at me madly because I can't it out of my head that I heard the song somewhere.
You know, it's not often that one of my favorite games happens to be a hugely popular game that nearly everyone likes, but one of the few times it is (such as in this case), the benefits are immense. Thank God for all the people who made this album.

- unearth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8FF6 did have a pretty badass soundtrack. You're crazy if you think 8's was better than 7's, though.
- NeoNight1986, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0yes 6 was excellent. but 8... did not quite compare to 7's.
- Pixelpaws, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2FF6, maybe, but FF4 didn't have a memorable soundtrack, nor did FF11, and FF8 wasn't memorable on any level.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0My Summary:
FF6 Yes, it was good
FF4 No, it was good
FF11 Yes it wasn't that great
FF8 Mostly, it was not amazing, yet still a little good
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0My Summary:
- technobabble042, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1The list goes FF9 -> FF6 -> FF8 -> FFX -> FF7 -> FF3 -> FF4 -. FF5 -> FF2 -> FF1. Just FYI.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'm glad that u put 9 first, I am a FF9 die hard fan. Personally, my list goes (from the music I know):
FF9>FF4>FF6>FF7>FF8>FFX (havnt heard/played enough 1,2,3,5)
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'm glad that u put 9 first, I am a FF9 die hard fan. Personally, my list goes (from the music I know):
- ilovepsi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Is it really a big deal what game gets rearranged? Obviously, FF7 is a game many people feel very passionate about, as well as the soundtrack (although FF6 still holds a special place in my heart), and the same holds true for the remixers in the community. I think it's a good thing that they put out such a quality work of art, regardless of the choice of game.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, I mean, every soundtrack eventually needs arranged, and although mabey I and others may not have it at their top, it is much more widely regarded as awesome. Kind of like Pokemon. A lot of people don't like it, but they don't realize that theirs still a huge amount of fans following it. Don't believe me? Search google for the Pokemon Remix Project (which is almost completed).
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Your Mom
You know, you are really wrong. I, having only seen the movie (yes, I'm ashamed not to have played) have found this soundtrack very good. They did a great mix up with the Sephiroth song (One Winged Angel n00bz). And I think FF9 really is underrated too. Probably my favorite FF.

- Feep, on 10/10/2007, -11/+5The Digg is a little early, as we can't download it yet...but soon, so soon. I love OCR, and I'm absolutely psyched.
- Fentekreel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2wish they'd do something like this for ff6....death on a snowfield is amazing
- NeoNight1986, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If they ever did a Final Fantasy 6 Album... i think i would donate 100$ on that thought alone.

- Fentekreel, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Can i purchase it? i'ld pay for something like that.
- MaxFrost, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23This needs more press!! get it out!
- n00bosaurusrex, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3i am puuuumped for this album!! can't wait to listen to it tomorrow after i get it on my ipod
- BlackDog93x, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Listening to it now track by track. Just couldn't wait til tomorrow.
This is so worth it. Some of the best stuff I've heard from these guys. Friggin' Awesome! - Hemophiliac, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13If you have any appreciation for final fantasy VII or for it's music alone, this is worth checking out. With so much quality in 45 tracks, it'll take you a long time to really get your head around everything, but so worth it when you do.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I know, I like a track, move on to the next one, and love it so much, it feels like the best rack I've heard so far. Then I'll barely be able to move on, and think the NEXT track is so mazing. Etc.
lol

- HPinto, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Awesome!!
Congratulations! - hamishmacdonald, on 10/10/2007, -14/+1Bit ironic, a game with "Final" in its title that's come out with something like thirteen sequels. The album sounds like a neat bit of community collaboration, though.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11The only reason the name "Final" Fantasy is ironic is because Square named the game thinking it would be the last game they would ever make. Previous "gems" like Thexder, Rad Racer, King's Knight and Deep Dungeon bombed pretty bad, they nearly went bankrupt.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I know, I have to explain that to Everyone... all those adults, and... Halo Players...

- Ephraim2007, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8good to see OCR still pumping out good stuff
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Can I get an Amen?
- Fizzle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8OCRemix rocks. They pretty much singlehandedly united video game remix artists and the work that has come out of there is astonishing. Oftentimes surpassing the original work.
If this album is anything like some of the others, I'll definitely be listening to it a lot!- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yeah, and OLReMiX is good too, although no one really appreciates them. They mostly acknowledge what OCR many times misses, the humorous side of VG Mixes.
- liontamervgf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Nah, we just don't receive many humor mixes, especially well-made ones (e.g. Chrono Trigger "Team Gato"). We've got one on the way though. With swears just for you.

- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dude ur so right, Don't worry, there are some "appreciaters" out there. That stuff iz the Shizz. If you havn't already, listen to Jeremy Robson on OCR. AMAZING!

- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0And the 2 Sonic Remix Projects! And the Kirby Remix Peoject!
- Klarth, on 10/10/2007, -11/+6Yasunori Mitsuda > Nobou Uematsu.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4If anyone has heard the Blue Dragon soundtrack, or any of the Black Mages albums, they wouldn't be digging you down. Uematsu was good in the past but he is now irrelevant.
- LocalDocal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0I've heard the Xenogears soundtrack (another one of Mitsuda's work which is highly regarded) and while there are some great songs, I didn't think his work matched up to Uematsu.
- phaseblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Uematsu's "irrelevant" because you like other people's current work better? Uematsu is probably the top of the list of people that started taking video game music seriously, and influenced tons of people after him. That's about as relevant as it gets.
This is also pretty stupid considering that Uematsu helped get Mitsuda started, which I'd say makes him pretty "relevant" in this context.
- GeoffTaucer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Concurred. Mitsuda is the superior musician, though onestly I think Mitsuda is starting to burn out as well.
HOWEVER, That does nothing to detract from the unadulterated awesomeness of this project. - Sami89, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I've got to agree about Mitsuda. Chrono Cross is still my favorite game soundtrack ever (after Okami, anyway), and even some of his lighter contributions to newer games like Luminous Arc are amazing.
- phaseblue, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3First of all, you misspelled Nobuo. Second, what's the point of that post, other than to piss on everyone's parade?
- auronapern, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I agree. We're here because we love the music - not because we want to point out that someone else is so much better. Let's keep it relevent, people.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I too agree, this is irrelevant to the AWESOMENESS of this soundtrack.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4If anyone has heard the Blue Dragon soundtrack, or any of the Black Mages albums, they wouldn't be digging you down. Uematsu was good in the past but he is now irrelevant.
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/10/2007, -7/+32.4GB for 4 albums? Um... How come?
- MiamiGuy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It's in wav format. It's the original output from the artist. Uncompressed. You can download in mp3 format if you wish by downloading the individual tracks. Anyway awesome work and it's free!
- BassCadet, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3WAV? Shouldn't have they used FLAC or something along those lines?
- zealeus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3There's no point in saving in flac- it's redundant. As already stated above, the output format is wav. Converting to flac serves no purpose other than compression and with bt, huge files aren't as big an issue.
- leahzero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The point is that the torrent size could be reduced and would facilitate more downloading and seeding of the lossless format files. There is no reason it shouldn't be in FLAC or another compressed lossless format instead of WAV to save bandwidth and disk space.
Probably better to discuss this at OCR with the project members, though, and keep this thread for discussion of the music itself. - LocalDocal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Zealeus, listen to what you are saying for a moment: "Converting to FLAC is redundant because it serves no purpose other than *compression*."
Yes, with BT, it's easy to download large files, but that doesn't mean people don't want smaller files of the same quality! - leahzero, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1WTF are our comments being downmodded for? The parent made an incorrect statement.

- mecmermun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1MP3s are also included in the torrent; like Skunkhair said, just uncheck the WAVs files if you dn't want to download them along with the MP3s.
- BassCadet, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3WAV? Shouldn't have they used FLAC or something along those lines?
- Skunkhair, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9use utorrent to download and just uncheck all the .wav files. it comes out waaay less than 2+gb
- Grimdotdotdot, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Thanks, chaps.
- jacfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Plus quality music usually lasts more than 3 minutes :P

- rand21althor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I've been waiting for this ever since I last heard about it on the last OC ReMix podcast. Great that this is finally out.
- BassCadet, on 10/10/2007, -11/+2I love FF7 and the music, but I have never heard a single reworking of the original music that is better. Furthermore, this music has been reworked to death. If someone must remix FF music, why not FFX which is every bit as good as what you find in FF7?
- leahzero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Did you even listen to the album, or are you just an ass?
So much blood, sweat, love, and time went into this project, and the music is diverse. You will certainly find something you like within. - auronapern, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The music here is amazing in my opinion. I doubt very highly, though, that the goal of the artists on this album was to make the music better. The whole idea of remixing is to take a song and put a different spin on it - to see if they can't take it somwehere else. You don't have to like what they did, but at least respect the fact that these people worked hard on these tracks. And just out of curiosity, where ARE your FFX remixes? If you're of the belief that FFX needs more attention DO something about it. Don't just put down the work of others.
- leahzero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Did you even listen to the album, or are you just an ass?

- NeoNight1986, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dancing Madly, Seymour, Jenovah. All 3 great boss tracks in my opinion
- Neodeusx, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Jenovah absolute i thought was the best Jenovah music.

- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7There is only one OST (original soundtrack), the one Uematsu wrote. All others are Arranged Soundtracks.
- scragg0x, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Can someone put a good track on a webserver... I cannot use bit torrent at work. I can mirror it as well
- scragg0x, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0n/m found it
- knowitman, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2This music is great.
It would be better if they did FF8. It has the best soundtrack of any FF game.- YamiJim, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5fail. as much as ff7 wasn't my favorite games wise (Materia magic system didn't fit my liking) it was pretty much revolutionary in the music department, moving away from the midis of old and really taking advantage of the CD format as well as the epic scale of the game and music. and the prelude (included in 2,3,4,5,6,7, ect) is probably the 2nd most memorable video game song of all time, next to the super mario theme.
- blt3d, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1i dont kno..Liberi Fatali was pretty amazing..
- ironrex, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2wrong.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3"it was pretty much revolutionary in the music department, moving away from the midis of old and really taking advantage of the CD format as well as the epic scale of the game and music"
You do know that FF7's soundtrack was all MIDI based and not sequenced, right? That didn't start until FF8. The game itself was no more or less epic than any previous FF game (well, 4/5/6 anyway). Stop being such a fanboi.- wattersm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Pretty much all game music is MIDI, it takes way too much space to store the music any other way. The sound chips on consoles have gotten a lot better, MIDI doesn't always mean something that sounds like a tin can.
- octium, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'd agree definitely. An album dedicated to Final Fantasy VIII would be very nice, and I don't doubt we'll eventually see one.
VIII had my favorite final boss music ;)

- punchinelli, on 10/10/2007, -7/+3If this is anywhere near as astounding and full of quality as Advent Children, I'm in for a treat!

- DolphinGL, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12This is the best content I've seen on Digg for awhile.
- Homoomo, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Final Fantasy 7 is the best game ever made. Period. Its original soundtrack is spectacular and i cant wait to here this one
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5No, it's not. It's not even the best Final Fantasy entry.
- YourDoom123, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5you realize its personal preference right?
homoomo, i agree, the best.

- KineticShampoo, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3I cried.
First ***** time music has made me cry.- sanotaan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Good God, are you in need of some classical.
Rachmaninov - Vespers / Nyne Otpushchaeshi (USSR Ministry of Culture Chorus)
Bach/Busoni - Nun Komm der Heiden Heiland (Horowitz)
Scriabin - Sonata-Fantasy in G# minor (Richter)
Chopin - Ballade in F minor (Horowitz)
OCR is wonderful--I cut my teeth there doing classical piano remixes of some tunes, worked with some wonderful and talented people, but those I listed above are the true masters.- KrazyGamerHead, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Dude don't forget Barber's Adagio for Strings...I saw it performed 2 days after the 9/11 attacks before the symphony did The Firebird Suite, there wasn't a single dry tear in the audience.
- Fieri, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Tears are rarely dry. =)

- auronapern, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Rachmanimov, absolutely! His Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini still gets to me - don't care that it's one of his more mainstream works. :) Pie Jesu is also one that can get a lump in my throat. I became a Weber fan because of this song! :-)
- sanotaan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Good God, are you in need of some classical.
- KrazyGamerHead, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I love it but I still have to say Chrono Symphonic > FFVII: Voices of the Lifestream
- Link00seven, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3This is great. One of the best OCRemix Projects yet. I know most of the people who download this will be gamers, but I think even those not quite into video games should be able to appreciate the music done on this album.
- EnderXero, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Downloaded it the second it was released. Awesome so far. Listening right now!
- Eleo, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2I kind of wished they'd chosen less popular source material. I mean Final Fantasy VII has been remixed to death in my opinion.
- Amablue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3There are a variety of other game series that have fan arranged soundtracks on OCR too.
- leahzero, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Just as points of note...2007 is the ten-year anniversary of the game (it was released Sep. 7, 1997 in the US). It remains well-known and respected even to non-RPG-fans and to some extent non-gamers, and whatever one thought of it, its impact upon the video game industry is indisputably still felt--from the rise of CG, to Squaresoft's (now Square-Enix) pushing of the envelope in graphics in general, to various innovations in game mechanics, design, narrative, imagery, aesthetics, and so on. FFVII's OST is fairly beloved within the video game music community, so there's always been talk of a tribute/remix album, and the ten-year anniversary seems an ideal time.
There are also plenty of other remix albums and single tracks on OCR for more obscure titles. - ilovepsi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I was wistful about the choice of material originally too, but despite that, VotL really does the arrangements justice and in general many creative rearrangements have come out of this project.
- LifeForce, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Is every single track new? As in, they aren't a mix of new and previously found tracks on OCRemix?
- Nutritious414, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Correct. All tracks were previously unreleased.
- Sami89, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1From what I've seen/heard of the album so far, it's all fresh.
- zirconst, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9ALL tracks are completely new, made just for this project. Glad (most of) you folks are enjoying it :)
- sgxyay, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Please enjoy track 3, "No Such Thing as the Promised Land"
:)- sanotaan, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1whee will do sir
- mecmermun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Done and done. It's one of my favorites.
- landroid, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Wow.....just wow. Unbelievable. You guys really outdid yourselves here.
- nishay, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2wow black wing metamorphosis is awesome
- Frash, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Yaaaay! This project rules! The music in it is 99% very good, so, it's a must :D
