- NaughtyRobot, on 10/10/2007, -56/+159Great article. It's good to see a person take responsibility for their own actions, and as a Christian, it's refreshing to see 'true' Christianity; being a Christian is not conforming to a set of regulations/codes/rituals, it is acknowledging our sin and letting Christ change us from the inside out.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -14/+113Even though I am not a fan of Korns music nor do I plan on reading this book, I can't diss someone for finally finding peace in their life.
- ninephoenixes, on 10/10/2007, -8/+77God, I need to stop reading digg comments.
- riverrunner, on 10/10/2007, -10/+61uh - the bible even says Christians are sheep and Jesus is the shepherd so whats your point?
- ubuntuedgy, on 10/10/2007, -2/+46"I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
Mohandas Gandhi
Good comment, man. The problem is not the Bible, or the belief in Christ. The problem is, like Ghandi said, most Christians are not Christ like at all. Christ would not mistreat gays, point fingers, ask for money, etc. Matter of fact, the only time Jesus got pissed was when people were abusing the church (money changers), or at the religious leaders who were hypocrites. His best tongue lashings were directed at religious leaders. Regular people (like prostitutes) were given his complete sympathy and understanding. - JohnnyLode, on 10/10/2007, -27/+70As a Christian and follower of Jesus Christ I can really sympathize with him. Although I never did drugs or have promiscous sex, I too was a once lost sinner. I am also very proud of the digg community for bringing up this article and keeping it alive. I also see that most of the negative comments toward Brian and Christianity have been burried. For those of you who don't know Christ He is out there looking for you... No matter what you have done in your life He can still save you... This artice is definitly proof of that. I hope that this can be kept alive and others can see how to come to Christ. To the digg Chrisitan readers I ask that you support this article and digg its rating up as much as possible, so that maybe others can come to peace in Christ as Brian did.
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -3/+46He's going to catch a lot of flak just because he talks about Jesus/Christianity. I don't care because I'm agnostic, but I think it's cool he got clean. I respected Aerosmith when they did the same. Who wants to end up shaking, stuttering and dazed like Ozzy Osbourne? I'm not envious of middle-aged drug addicts and alcoholics - it's sad.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -44/+76KoRn blows.
- genezorz, on 10/10/2007, -9/+38Why is Digg so hateful?
This guy found a way to overpower the demons in his life. He was in terrible amounts of pain through abuse and depression. He's found a way to better himself and help cope with his problems in a safe, productive way.
What you guys think he should have committed suicide instead of choosing a lifestyle and belief system that doesn't affect you at all? I suppose the only "respectable" thing to do would be to sober up without the influence of a great faith? Anything else is trite and meaningless?
Beyond heartless. - Everglow, on 10/10/2007, -4/+29Yeah, considering how hectic my life gets, I think it's awesome someone found peace in God. I don't know if that's where I'll end up, but I can't really put into words how awesome that is for him. And from an Atheist: Guys, stop ragging on Christians. They really aren't all bad.
- FatBird19, on 10/10/2007, -4/+26@ Koldkompress
Jesus' POINT is that we're dumb animals. We do follow anything blindly and that's why we need the shepherd to guide us.
Way to feel you had to make a statement and ruin the article. - genezorz, on 10/10/2007, -7/+28Nothing dumb about following a good example.
- Asianwaste, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21If he just made this up, then why do people go to confessionals? Oh wait because NaughtyRobot said that's how it is right? I'm not trying to preach to you or anything but sometimes your hatred of religions has made you completely ignorant of them to the point where you don't even know what you are hating. You'll bring yourself down to the level of everything you think you hate about religion.
- KyleGoetz, on 10/10/2007, -5/+25There's a huge difference between conforming to morality (e.g., you are A ***** CONFORMIST BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO MURDER PEOPLE AND ACCEPT THAT MURDER IS BAD!!!) and conforming to fashion/music/book trends.
By your logic, it's bad to have a job, use a computer, breathe air, and speak a language because it means you're a conformist. Give me a break. You sound like those goth kids on South Park. - Fatticus, on 10/10/2007, -8/+27An ignorant atheist? Don't see one of those every day.
- KyleGoetz, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19No, I think they're digging you down because of the "being a Christian means you can no longer play the guitar" assertion.
- gpaone, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18Any way a dude cleans his act up is good. You have to be an idiot to think otherwise. As has been said, all Christian's aren't bad. And all don't have to have alterior motives for doing something. For most, the goal isn't about 'making more money', it's about trying to clean the world up and getting people on the right path. Writing a book could've been theraputic or a way to show the younger generations that it's good to clean up...ever hear of trying to be a good influence? The people that choose to be a good influence each have their own way of doing it.
- memphis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16Some of histories greatest musicians were Christians. J.S. Bach for example, in my book the greatest composer that ever lived.
- R3Dirkulous, on 10/10/2007, -4/+19recent interviews from both Brian "Head" Welch and current Korn members lead many to believe he will be back for their next album. Both sides have stated they would like to once again rejoin. Their bass player "Fieldy" i s also a devout christian and shares the same ideas as head. Looks like a full reunion is likely and album in 2009. Dont bash me just google it..its true
- R3Dirkulous, on 10/10/2007, -2/+15no they arent..their base player is a christian and Jonathan Davis is also a believer in god but does not agree with church
- plaing, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13yes. trying to make money by leaving his massively popular rock band. i understand most people think xty is some kind of colossal multi-level marketing scam, but you don't automatically start getting televangelist cheques as soon as you convert. or at least i didn't. maybe in the states you do..
- HUKI365, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16I'm sorry, making a decision to follow your own beliefs to feel better about yourself is denying yourself free will?
- npsken, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13Ruleset = Pre Jesus dying for everyone's sins.
Those who follow the "rules" are only doing so to strengthen their relationship with god.
That does not mean anyone who follows the rules are more likely to go to heaven or anything. They do so out of their own choice. - Speaking, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11No one advocates child abuse but if you think children are perfect little cherubs, you have either: 1. Never worked with children, or studied basic child development. 2. Chosen to ignore basic scientific inquiry: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/earth/main.jhtml?xml=/earth/2007/07/01/scibaby101.xml
- terminal157, on 10/10/2007, -4/+12If U Stupid, GET OFF DIGG
- KyleGoetz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I think we're lauding that he has finally found happiness, irrespective of what his method actually was.
- terminal157, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9I am addicted. I... can't... stop...
- datastorageguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Yeah because a life of sex, drugs, and rock and roll lead to well rounded, intelligent, decent people....
- MikeD606, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Atheist vs Christian debates are more pointless than Apple vs MS or PS3 vs XBOX 360. We get it, you like your side and nobody is converting
- logicmethod, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10I would say it's there to help answer the questions that science can't answer, like meaning, purpose and destiny. The argument seems to be always about science vs. religion, evolution vs. creation, etc. I believe that it's not intrinsically really a valid argument because they are dealing with two different things. For instance, even in the evolution debate, whether that's how it happened or not, religion deals with "who" started it all--who created the time and space for evolution to happen within? Was it God, god, or was it just always there?
- MikeD606, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Thank you, cygnus. Forget about the converserion to Christianity and the atheist vs Christian pointless arguments, just be glad that the guy cleaned up his life.
- mattbatt77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Just remember why Christ came, as Jesus himself said: "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." John 3:17
The mercy of God always precedes His judgment (and the very reason Jesus came was to take God's judgment on himself, in our stead). Even in the Old Testament. Look at David: he ate the temple Holy bread (forbidden by testament law), lied, had an affair and murdered the woman's husband. Not that God didn't discipline him, but under strict observation of Torah law, David should have been stoned to death. Which won out? God's mercy. - fuze44, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Would you dare to allow for the possibility that he's sincere and wants to help other people from going down a bad road?
- kriminalintent, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6They have not replaced him with a full time member.
- zebbie, on 10/10/2007, -10/+15And repeating ideas from movies is free will?
- rjam710, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7That's part of the problem right there; atheists always refer to our beliefs as "fictional beings." When someone believes whole-heartedly in something and you go out and call it fictional, they're going to be offended. There's plenty of arrogance on both sides, and as long as that remains there will always be some hostility.
- Speaking, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I think that when you look at many people in the church (the ones sitting in the pews), you do see people that are just trying to do what's right and help those around them. I know that not everyone's experience, but I think a lot of people gets attacked by the immature obnoxious christians, and thats a shame, because most people in the pew are trying to provide help to those who seek it. Most people I have met that work in providing food for the poor are at least loosely religiously affiliated. (just my personal experience, not saying there aren't atheist there as well.)
- g147m, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5You have to look at when the Bible was written and for whom. It was not written to be a science book, it was written to teach us how to live our lives, and it was written for everyone that has lived for the last 2000+ years. God could have used evolution to create the universe, but I don't think that's the point. If evolution was spelled out scientifically in the book of Genesis, do you think anyone for the last 3000 years would have taken it seriously?
What is important is that Jesus lived and died for us, and that we realize that we are messed up and need Him. How the earth was created is completely irrelevant to the faith. Heck even the Pope says that evolution may be true. I hate how this issue has been the focus of so much debate. We weren't there when it happened and what you believe has no consequences, so why spend so much time arguing about it??? - mahdaeng, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You are pitiable, PTCHFRKR. I don't know which is worse, your poor reading comprehension, or you misunderstanding of Christianity. In the article, this Brian fellow clearly stated that he is opposed to organized religion, so your claims that he joined a religion (be it a worthless one or not) is wholly without basis in fact.
- Van3ck, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6What do you mean? You don't like it when a burned out ex-rocker decides to sober up and replace his addictions with obsessive religion, and then stand up on a soap box to shove his newfound beliefs in your face?
I thought we all enjoyed being preached to and told what to think and believe by recovering junkies... - CoolioVendetta, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8I bet you're not one to complain when at the anti-religion stories get dugg up.
- terminal157, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6People can look up lyrics if they want to see them, thanks. Try, I don't know, commenting next time.
- SilasTomorrow, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Wow, you are a very angry person.....you aren't exactly making a great case for 'non-believers'
- tacojohn48, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I think we will just bury both.
- frimple, on 10/10/2007, -6/+9It's like a train wreck....the carnage is terrible, but I just can't look away.
- myxyplik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wow, the atheist trolls sure have come out of the woodwork for this one. It's a shame people like Falwell and bin Laden have ruined religion for some people, which just goes back to the quote from the featured article where it says the man-made religious crap just has to die. As a non-denominational Christian, I couldn't have said it better myself.
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Your comment has been voted on 66 times and you have +4. I guess diggers are torn between sex, drugs, and Rock & Roll (which are awesome) and a man turning his life around (which is also pretty alright).
- cygnus2112, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Take a good look: http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/09/keithrichardsAP_502x700.jpg
