I know you're amazed at his acting abilities, but watch the clip again. He sits there with Cohen's ass in his face for much, much longer than he ever would if this wasn't planned.
The other thing is that it's clear MTV was shooting for Eminem as the target - otherwise the joke isn't nearly as funny. Would they really put a grown man's bare ass in his face without giving him any warning? Who knows what the hell would happen or how much he would flip out. According to him, Eminem agreed to participate in a stunt where "Bruno" would drop down from above and sit on Eminem's lap. Instead, Bruno decided to do a nosedive with his ass exposed, catching the rapper offguard.
If true, this would explain a few things:
1) the camera showed Eminem before Bruno dropped, showing that MTV expected something between the two
2) Eminem's bodyguards didn't react initially, indicating that they were told something would happen and not to panic (although as soon as Eminem gave the word, they rose to the occasion)
3) Eminem was visibly upset and shouting expletives, indicating it was unexpected - punkcat, on 06/01/2009, -2/+98not to mention the preset camera angles.
