- Mankind121, on 03/24/2009, -2/+9Holy *****! Stop the presses...
- amabaie, on 03/24/2009, -2/+8He seems to do a lot of experimentation; he's had several careers.
- AndrewDB, on 03/24/2009, -0/+5Awesome news.
- AndrewDB, on 03/24/2009, -0/+4To be honest, this is never a bad thing...
- BrokenVisage, on 03/24/2009, -1/+4Veronica is such a good song by him, not sure why it's so obscure amoung his better works.
- bigpook, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3You need to be a certain age to get it. Elvis came on the scene in the late 70's and his first few albums kicked some ass.
I was young enough to remember and his rendition of radio, radio on SNL was enough to bring the crowd to their feet.
Through the years he had his hand in all kinds of musical genre's. He has covered quite the range.

- Luxowell, on 03/24/2009, -0/+3When I got free last-minute tickets to see The Poilce, I was actually way more excited to see Elvis. However, he sounded like hell. It wasn't their fault, the sound mix was horrid. Also, I'm really glad you have a new album, but don't fill up more than 1/2 the set with "This one is on my new record".
- morgens2, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2I didn't realize one exclamation point was excessive.
- papastout, on 03/24/2009, -1/+3Jerry Douglas is a good addition to any ensemble, but I'm hoping for an Elvis Costello / Diana Krall duets album someday.
- esilverski, on 03/24/2009, -0/+2That was from the Cold Mountain soundtrack. I think they're talking about an acoustic American roots album.
- asgardshill, on 03/24/2009, -1/+3To me, Elvis Costello will always be that bespectacled little racist punk who cried like a little girl when Bonnie Bramlett cold-cocked him in 1979.
- Inflammo, on 03/24/2009, -2/+3I guess we're toning it down, rather than pumping it up!
/rimshot - ctiedje, on 03/26/2009, -0/+1Hate his name, but love his work
- 123keepitup123, on 04/02/2009, -0/+1So good...
- asgardshill, on 03/24/2009, -0/+1So, let's have your version then. Did Elvis Costello NOT publicly call Ray Charles a "blind, ignorant *****"? And did Bonnie Bramlett NOT knock him into next week as a result?
I was staying at that Holiday Inn in Columbus where it happened (waiting on a morning flight), and saw the whole thing happen in the bar. And yes, right after Bramlett busted him one 'cross his lip, Elvis Costello cowered behind his handlers and cried big old tears just like a little girl. And the passage of time does not make a loudmouthed racist punk any less of a loudmouthed racist punk, at least not in Costello's case.
- - schnitzi, on 03/24/2009, -1/+2>To me, Elvis Costello sucks because of an incident from three decades ago that I don't even correctly remember.
Fixed your post. - inactive, on 03/24/2009, -0/+0"the prolific singer-songwriter-composer returns to acoustic American roots music for the first time since his 1986 album ''King of America.""
I recall a song called "Scarlet Tide." - Randki, on 03/24/2009, -1/+1Not a fan, but glad others enjoy him. But is it really BIG news when someone goes acoustic?
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -0/+0It was also on his Delivery Man album. The article says nothing about a roots album. They make it seem like he abandoned Americana entirely since 1986, which is untrue.
- DulcetTone, on 03/24/2009, -2/+1He's like Joe Jackson, but boring. Pump it Up bobs upon a sea of snooze.
- borez, on 03/24/2009, -5/+4I stopped listening to Elvis Costello years ago, his earlier work was superb, but the later stuff sucked.
- RobbieF, on 03/24/2009, -4/+2Erm... isn't he a pianist? and um.... aren't pianos ....acoustic instruments?
- Gogogo111, on 03/24/2009, -3/+1Who?

- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -4/+0This guy is no Elvis. I only mildly enjoy a couple of his tunes. In fact, his manager dubbed him with Elvis Costello. But, I doubt if many folks would run out and buy an acoustic album from a guy named Declan Patrick MacManus.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -5/+1I guess some of his wifes safe middle of the roadness is wearing off on him.
- inactive, on 03/24/2009, -16/+12Elvis Costello... <snore>
