30 is the new 20. Gen-X isn't approaching middle age yet. Or at least I prefer to deny it. - warsd4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Yeah, but no Michael Anthony. Eddie's son replaced him on bass. Anthony WAS Van Halen's backup vocals and an extraordinary bass player. It still won't really be Van Halen; even with Diamond Dave...
- N00F, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15AWWWW JEEZ, Not this ***** again?
I guess they both have run out of money? Why not leave 'em laughing (so to speak) and let us remember the greatness that WAS Van Halen? - haleym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11It was closer to 10 years ago... and didn't survive their first public appearance together, when Eddie and David's monster egos clashed backstage, reminding them why they split up in the first place:

i think of all of the education that i missed
*bammp bamp behmp bahhhmp*
but then my homework was never quite like this! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Well, if he had never put that brown M&M in EVHs bowl..
- EbowUK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Yeesh.
Might as well... jump. - MajorD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6In terms of who was the right fit for Van Halen - David Lee Roth > Sammy Hagar > Gary Cherone. I was kicking myself for never seeing a VH show live and now I might get a chance! Excellent!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What a complete train wreck. I babysat Wolfgang once when he was 7. He was a fun kid to spend time with, but he's a kid. A 15-year-old who's been playing bass for three months does not belong on stage with the classic lineup of Van Halen. Between Edward's involvement with the porno industry and this abortion of a plan to insert Wolfie into the "new" Van Halen, it's been one hell of a year to be a Van Halen fan. I'm starting to understand what it was like for Michael Jackson fans to watch their favorite performer turn into a total freak.

TODAY:
2:00pm Van Halen
3:00pm Puppet Show! - Jerim, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Van Halen's best days are behind them. They split just as they were reaching their creative apex. Had they stayed together, they would have multiplied their legendary musical output by 2 or 3. As it is, even if they get back together, there is no way they are going to be able to recapture the magic from back in the 80's. The most we can hope for is that they do a good job of playing their classics. The days of the heavy partying band putting out some killer music were dead the day Hagar took over for Roth.
- Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8People lost interest in Van Halen when they came out with that awful CD with the former lead singer of Extreme. It sucked big green donkey weenies, and the vocals were mixed so low you could barely hear them. Talk about a total turd of an album. I got rid of it after two listens.
They used to fill out stadiums. It will be interesting to see what sort of interest they can draw if Dave rejoins the band. - bigtrouble77, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6So bash the guys for getting old? At least they are still out there doing what they love. Van Halen's got some serious issues. If they can work things out and go on tour this summer i'd most definitely check them out. They released too many amazing albums to write them off. I actually liked the bluegrass songs Dave did. At least he's still out there taking chances.
- waxoff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Hot For Teacher... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsNiCsNoo2k
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Anthony is afiliated with Sammy Hagar now... they did a tour last summer as a band called "The Other Half" and played all Van Halen songs...
- Iknockstuffdown, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Sure signs of the apocalypse.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Man, that was brutal.
- timxpx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i saw the stones play at giants stadium a couple of months ago. they looked frail and i thought the wind was going to take keith richards away. several decades of substance abuse just aren't kind to the body...
- Hypermarkalan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Musical work in a porno? No "solo" acting I hope.
I sure hope he isn't in front of the camera, because Eddie is one ugly mofo. The older he gets the more he starts looking like Skeletor from the Dolph Ludgren Masters of the Universe abortion...I mean movie. - PopcornDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@Mulo
No, coming soon to a county fair near you... ;) - themarq, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Was it just me or did every quote in that article from Eddie Van Halen make him sound like a total goober?
Perhaps Eddie would be better off just expressing himself through is guitar and just keep his mouth shut. - ChronicColonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Honey, them damn dogs are in the garbage again! Oh wait, that was David Lee Roth doing Van Halen songs in Bluegrass style..."
- empeethree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Van Halen without Michael Anthony is like KISS without Peter Criss.. no thanks, I'll pass.
- flintmich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Their first few albums, (especially their first one) are rock classics and I would pay fairly big bucks to see the four original members together. Not with the son though.
- porkstacker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I thought they sucked balls in the "Van Haggar" days. David Lee Roth was the right guy for the job. Much better vocal range than raspy-ass-voiced Hammy Saggar.
- rockefeller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I seen David Lee Roth on Letterman (or Leno?) awhile back doing an acoustic version of "Jump." It sounded so gay and the guy just looked washed up.
But, I bet he would make money on tours. All of those teens and twenties that used to worship him are now like mid 30-mid 40 with nothing better to do than go see a band with 50 year old men in it. Hell, the Stones still do it, why not. - krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Well why the heck not? It's not like Eddie's old lady will leave him if Diamond Dave returns--she's already gone. Of course, interest in the band is pretty much gone too. They could always hook up with some other reunited bands, do a Geezers of Rock tour, and make a gajillion dollars.
- mtrip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In other news, Reagan tells the Russians to tear down the wall and Alf makes his debut on television!
- tdowling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3ersnyder, your powers are frightening and must be contained.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Eh, Sammy's never had a scrap of talent, IMO. He's always been a second-rate Robert Plant wannabe with songwriting chops to rival Dee Snider or Blackie Lawless. When Dave was in Van Halen they were writing hard rock canon. With Sammy they were packaging mediocrity with a marketable brand name. My personal opinion is that Edward has always been afraid that Dave was a more important ingredient than him. When Dave dumped Van Halen it allegedly caused Edward to have a breakdown. I think he's terrified to depend on Dave again. The thing is, neither of them are the performers they once were. Ed's alcoholism and cancer treatments have left him a shadow of the guitarist he once was. Dave's own substance issues have reduced him to a caricature of his former self. Of course, an original in the twilight of his career is still more impressive than a second-rate hack like Sammy at the height of his powers. ;-)
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah it was a blue grass version...
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hey Check out that guy on the pale horse...
- Qwirk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Van Halen goes through this every few years. They Ask David to come on back then realize why they ditched him in the first place. You would think that the band would get over all their juvenile bs and go to group therapy or something.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ kevin45.
dude, that just made my day :-) - Leofan7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is great news. Hagar sucks balls, so this will be a very welcome return. Please say yes, Dave!!!
- ComputerDudes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I saw DLR this year in a small free concert at a summer festival. Now I always thought the old Van Halen Rocked, but Dave really stinks now.
He can't sing anymore, he let the audience do half the vocals for him, what he did do was bad. Plus he can't even remember all the words to his songs.
He is just sad. Maybe they can get him back into shape, but I doubt it.
I also saw Sammy and Michale Anthony this summer on tour and they kicked ass. I wish at least Michael would go back to group. It won't be the same (Sigh.....) - albybum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, when they reunited with Sammy back in 2004, I got tickets to the first show at Greensboro Coliseum in N.C. The place was absolutely packed. And it was a damn good show. I would expect no less for a reunion with Roth.
- dkurfurst, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I hope DLR gets a new rug. The guy is almost freaking bald, bet he wishes he had all that hair from the 80's
- motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1True, but I'll go to see the show, just for another chance to see King Edward play. Here's hoping he lays off the Smoking Loon a bit during the tour. ;-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not a junkie, a cokehead. Big difference.
I love that chapter in Dave's book where he talked about him and Ed in the bathroom at the reception after Ed's wedding. He said they were snorting so much blow that they'd each take turns hanging on to the other one to get through the convulsions. Between those two they've snorted up half of South America. It's turned them both into Gollum. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Er, yeah...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yeah, Edward Van Halen's porno videos are here:

Here's a review of the film:
http://www.fleshbot.com/sex/review/dvd-review-sacred-sin-215157.php
EVH apparently produced the film, let it be shot at his home and has helped finance several other films from this director. He had a premiere party for the flick a couple of months ago at his home. There's some footage online somewhere that people shot on cell phones. It looked like a real mess. Someone left on a gurney after an overdose. It's really pathetic to see Edward Van Halen end up this way. -
