- TheSkunkMonkey, on 02/21/2009, -0/+18One of the best concerts I ever saw was ELO on the Out of the Blue tour. The stage looked like the spaceship on the album cover, but from the edge on. The top half opened like a clam shell to reveal the band rising up on the stage in the center. Once fully opened, a large screen at the back of the stage unfolded from the top.
This was the first concert I had ever seen that had a laser light show. The screen in the rear acted as the canvas for the laser to draw various patterns, symbols and logos. They also had carefully placed lasers that bounced between the bottom and top of the stage before shooting out and over the crowd up into the ceiling.
To this day, that was the most impressive stage setup I'd ever seen.
I even had back stage passes and got to meet 3 members of the opening act, Starland Vocal Band.
As long as we can hear his music, Mr. Groucutt will live on. - michaelrsa, on 02/21/2009, -0/+14That sucks, I was born to late to enjoy them in their prime. Well, might as well put on Turn To Stone. - LilJimmyNordin, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4From the wikipedia entry:
A common mondegreen in the song is the perception that, following the title line, Jeff Lynne shouts "Bruce!" However, according to liner notes, he is actually saying a made-up word "Grroosss". This is similar to a German word for "greeting", Gruß possibly referring to the Bavarian greeting Grüß Gott the group would have heard while recording the album in Munich. However, after the song's release, so many people had misinterpreted the word as Bruce that Jeff Lynne actually began to sing the word as Bruce at live shows. - MasterTroll, on 02/21/2009, -1/+5♪ Oh oh Telephone Liiiiine, give me some tiiiiime, I'm living in twiiiiiiiiiilight ♪
