- Smegzor, on 10/23/2007, -0/+3Jamendo rocks!
More artists should use sites like this and get away from the RIAA.- bingobongony, on 10/23/2007, -2/+4In a few months when NONE of the artists on this page are known at all, and are still playing the same dank bar week after week for the same 50 "fans" paying a $2 cover you';ll know exactly why bands would KILL to be with the RIAA if given the chance.
- Smegzor, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2That just shows how little you understand of the ideas behind sites like Jamendo. They are a means to help us discover new music and new artists. The artists can and do still produce music the RIAA way as well as doing performances etc. This site allows us to communicate directly with artists, keep tabs on gigs and tours, and to freely share our individual musical tastes with our friends, potentially adding new fans in the process. Of course we can also donate money to the artists. Jamendo takes a very small percentage, the rest goes directly to the artist.
Music was a social media long before it was a commercial enterprise. You can keep your anal commercialistic views. The rest of us are doing just fine thanks.
- ikamos, on 10/23/2007, -5/+3***** the RIAA
- heliox, on 10/23/2007, -3/+1Bypassing the blog crap: http://www.jamendo.com/en/

- ButterBuddha, on 10/23/2007, -0/+4WTF......5000 of artists I've never heard of before???
- bingobongony, on 10/23/2007, -4/+1This is really going to be POPULAR! EVERYONE is going to go get this! I predict at least 5 of the bands here will become HUGE now!
- restlessdesign, on 10/23/2007, -0/+5is there a torrent of all 5000 artists?
- jasekasp, on 10/23/2007, -0/+7Stuff that's free and legal tends to suck...
- Smegzor, on 10/20/2007, -0/+1Thats what I think of a lot of commercial music, but I am very very picky about it.
- sympodius, on 10/20/2007, -0/+0The whole open source/creative comments movement?
- Glasyalabolis, on 10/24/2007, -0/+1Actually I like a lot of their electro music. Why don't you listen to some of the music?
Advice is free, and it doesn't tend to suck.
- MikeonTV, on 10/23/2007, -3/+1I would like to see a list of possible downloads before clicking on this blog. Thank you for your time.
- daengbo, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2I've been using Jamendo for months, accessing it directly from Rhythmbox (It's a plugin). I highly recommend Frank Thorstein, Brad Sucks, Staggered Crossing, Unfinished Business, and Talco as good artists from there.
- _Ty_, on 10/23/2007, -0/+2Ok, but what types of artists are those you recommended?
- daengbo, on 10/22/2007, -0/+0Thorstein is a Satriani-style instrumental guitarist. Brad Sucks is a modern rock band. Staggered Crossing and Unfinished Business are more 80s sounding rock. Talco is latin ska. I have a huge amount of blues from Jamendo, as well, but didn't list the artists.
