Does anyone actually feel bad for the labels? - MrTito, on 12/05/2007, -0/+18So the anti-piracy agents have stooped to using imaginary talking ducks to teach the youths how to live "right"? Buncha quacks.
- MrTito, on 12/05/2007, -1/+17Yeah, Alvin and the Chipmunks. And here's the song at super slow speed to normalize the chipmunks voices.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFDoATF46gc - P4NNY, on 12/05/2007, -0/+16What is next, Tom and Jerry...? Jerry pirating the cheese and Tom, as the mighty RIAA, chasing him?
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -1/+16SAVE THE POOR MEGA-CONGLOMERATES FROM STARVATION.
DONATE TODAY. - mediaspree, on 12/05/2007, -0/+12For Uncle Scrooge, youths pirating music is worse than when the Beagle Boys stole his number one dime.
- insllvn, on 12/05/2007, -0/+8So, the anti-piracy movement is ready to admit they are cartoonishly villainous? What is next, Superman is downloading some easy-listening, and gets sued by Lex Luther?
- badenglishihave, on 12/05/2007, -2/+9Funny how the music industry survived for so long WITHOUT CDs.
- Coffeedemon, on 12/05/2007, -0/+7That wouldn't be favourable portrayal for the RIAA though... all Tom usually gets for his troubles is an anvil on the head.
- Rotzooi, on 12/05/2007, -1/+7I don't understand why artists DEMAND that they should be able to live from just their music sales. Many reasonably famous musicians in for example Germany and France have other jobs too, like presenting tv-shows and doing hundreds of tiny gigs each year, to earn a proper living.
That you can't buy fifteen Ferrari's with your record-sales, doesn't mean your ***** songs are being copied. It just means they are *****. - Rotzooi, on 12/05/2007, -0/+5I, for one, would feel bad if they were removed from the chain of sales, since I really enjoy their cocaine-fueled parties. Nothing like snorting a line off a hooker's ribcage, knowing it's been paid for by selling cds filled with crappy music to some sucker.
- alphabetagaga, on 12/05/2007, -0/+5I see what you did there.
- RocketGib, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4“If nobody buys CDs anymore, the record labels and artists will become beggars.”
No, they'll (the record labels in particular) just become a figment of our imagination. - commiecat, on 12/05/2007, -2/+6duckjob.wav
- CZzyzx41, on 12/05/2007, -0/+4Quit limping! And fix the floorboards dammit!
- astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Don't you know the Legion of Doom is secretly the RIAA just in costumes?
Bizzaro mad at Superman for downloading music! - Defuser, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3Aren't Donald and his nephews the HEROES of Donald Duck magazine? And isn't Uncle Scrooge the villain? I haven't read the book in question, but it seems to me that this is an ANTI, not PRO, RIAA message.
- drizzlelicious, on 12/05/2007, -1/+4This reminds me:
Tweety, Donald Duck summoned to court
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071204/ap_on_fe_st/lo ... - astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3I'm waiting for the AntiPiracy thing to come to Sesame Street....like Oscar downloading music while in his can and the neighbors wonder how a grouch got so much music. Of course you know, the RIAA would want to make an appearance, and have to knock on Oscar's can to serve him a summons.
- Anonymous3, on 12/05/2007, -0/+3For just $0.99 a track, you can have peace of mind knowing that you've made a difference.
- actorboy, on 12/05/2007, -0/+2They don't demand that they should be able to live off their music sales, they demand that you pay for their music if you want to have a copy. That requires two things: that they be good enough to warrant purchase, and that you have enough integrity not pirate. None of the above guarantee a living wage.
- WoollyMittens, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1The irony is that downloading music, movies and books for your own personal use is perfectly legal in The Netherlands. Something those BREIN people have been trying very hard to spread misinformation about.
What you should know about BREIN is that they represent the music-bosses and are in charge of charging levies on burnable CDs and DVDs. They have been warned several times by the minister of justice for not giving any of those levies to the artists they were meant for. This didn't stop them making millions of euros of that money disappear into their own pockets, as "expenses". - Mearn, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1They released all the war shorts on DVD a few years ago, that's a bad way to hide them...
- xenodata, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Donald Uncle! Did you even twenty euros for us?

Phew! - alexkorova, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Well, both yes and no, depends on the writer and/or artist. Actually, both Donald, his nephews and Uncle Scrooge are generally seen as the good guys.
edit: Haven't read the book in question either. - jeremyduffy, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Woot! "Huh" has become a universal word :)
- ivosilva, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1I've already read a different story with those exact drawings, many many many years ago (in Portugal). Donald was just missing work and having fun and Scrooge found out.
Someone recycled it and made propaganda out of it. That's sad. - verkon, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1So, you mean we could like, see people with guitars standing at town squares playing some tune for money if we don't buy CD's?
- dafragsta, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Uncut! Ooooooh!
Eyein' up down that sappy noun! - mercano, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1D-D-Danger watch behind you, there's a lobby group out to find you!
- SeBBBe, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1***** the RIAA... no wait, BREIN.
- verkon, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Depends from story to story. Scrooge can be either villain or hero, but in shorter stories, Scrooge typically is the villain
- astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1That would be good... as you know Jerry always get the best of Tom
Or course don't forget Uncle Peco, he would be representing the artists giving their music away (see episoded "Pecos Pest" (1955) to get the reference)....
** twang of guitar string breaks ** "I broke another guitar string.... here kitty kitty....."
-Uncle Peco - astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Michael Eisner is in your celling watching you download illegal music...
- astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Actually Donald was a good guy during WWII, he took on the Axis... its a shame that Disney is trying to sweep those cartoons along with the racial ones (Song of the South) under the rug, like they never existed.
- astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1Next month's issue.... features Donald Duck and his Nephews visiting the Red Light District in Amsterdam as Walt turns over in his grave.
- astrotrain, on 12/05/2007, -0/+1classic sound...
- demonsnake69, on 12/05/2007, -1/+1Someone needs to release a comic of the record labels being portrayed as the Beagle gang and the EFF being portrayed as Gizmo Duck to balance this propaganda out.
- inactive, on 12/05/2007, -0/+0and you dont want that to happen in real life?
Heck i would be ecstatic if they get an anvil shoved up their ass. - STANNO, on 12/05/2007, -0/+0In russia you dont sue the RIAA the RIAA sues you. hmm...
- Gryph1, on 12/05/2007, -2/+1Related: http://www.oreillynet.com/digitalmedia/blog/2001/1 ...
Disney used the show "The Proud Family" before for anti-piracy messages. - banananose3, on 12/05/2007, -2/+1Donald Duck was always the bad boy of the Disney cartoons. He would always get into trouble and the kids would learn from it. But this is to much! Come on, do kids care that much about anti-piracy. Can kid just watch a cartoon, and just enjoy it. Uncle Scrooge as the big boss of a record label threatening with fines is a great tie in on how Uncle Scrooge is. But did Uncle Scrooge ever pay taxes?
mikeg ~ Howtobelike.com - allaboutdatiki, on 12/05/2007, -5/+4arrrrrrrrrrrrr! quack. arrrrrrrrrrrrr! quack.
- houndeyex, on 12/05/2007, -5/+1Bunch of RIAA *****. Burn in hell. Leave Disney alone.
- jenny867, on 12/05/2007, -20/+3me i want a hooooooolaaaaaaaaa hoooooooooop!
