- jbizzy, on 01/28/2009, -0/+21It must be hard having to top the year before each and every year. I saw Daft Punk play their first live show in many years there in 06 and it was pretty much the highlight of my life.
- Dr3w, on 01/28/2009, -2/+13I might actually check out the Grammys for once, just to see Radiohead play.
- cpaterson89, on 01/29/2009, -3/+12PRIMUS SUCKS
- vtbarrera, on 02/03/2009, -0/+8I remember that Daft Punk performance, it was ***** epic.
- CYR1X, on 01/29/2009, -0/+8Digg if you like Daft Punk.
- piratearggghhh, on 01/29/2009, -1/+8Bowie's in space
- coldkodiak, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6:*(
I missed the pyramid.
Really, I'd only buy tickets just to see anything as epic as the Daft Punk concerts of 06. - douglasr007, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6I wished I would have seen that performance back in 2006. A lot of people seemed to love it.
- douglasr007, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Ok. Who was stupid enough to think Daft Punk was doing Coachella this year? They stopped doing the tour with the amazing pyramid in 2007 and pretty much became reclusive in 2008 except for the Grammy performance with Kanye West. As far as I know, they might release an album in March. They tend to release a studio album every 4 albums in March. Human After All came out in March 2005 so there's hope for something come March.
- mu0p, on 01/29/2009, -0/+6Completely agree. all other things I expereince are gauged next to that daft punk show.
- Synn, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6Looks like someone's not really a Primus fan.
- cpaterson89, on 01/29/2009, -1/+6"Primus Sucks" is the band's slogan. Actually, it's also their domain name. If you weren't a tool maybe you'd get that, along with the accidental band reference in this sentence.
- tavallai, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4At the Colette shop in Paris, there's actually a poster advertising Daft Punk and David Bowie playing the Bellagio in Vegas this February. I've researched it as much as possible, and can pretty much conclude: *****.
I wonder if this poster is where the rumor came from - the style of the art is very Coachella-like. If I get a chance to go in there, I'll take a picture and see how far we can fuel internet speculation. ;) - douglasr007, on 01/29/2009, -0/+4I've always hated the "Justice as the new Daft Punk" comparison. They are apples and oranges when being compared. Both duos might be from Paris and managed by Pedro "Busy P" Winter (he no longer manages Daft Punk now) but they are nothing alike. The direction Justice is doing with their music is much different than Daft Punk's.
- 74associates, on 01/28/2009, -2/+6congrats to the grammys for scoring radiohead.
coachella seems to be becoming blowchella. - exspasticcomics, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3Bowie needs to put out another album.
- Spiritualized, on 01/29/2009, -0/+3Daft Punk definitely put on one of the best live performances I've ever seen... and I've seen a lot.
- danconia, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2IMO They can take as long as they'd like, as long as they keep their quality as high as it's been.
Now if Justice could get better at their live sets then maybe the torch could get passed. - Mardala, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Well if you do go. Check out Basement Jaxx ...
- JeddHampton, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Watcha doin' out there, man?
- rubaaan, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2they always pull this kinda crap in Ultra down here in miami. they'll plaster DJ's names on their flyers and they dont end up performing.
- bossywalker, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Yeah, I heard a radio interview with their manager before their last tour and he stated that it was possibly/probably their last ever.
- CptBuck, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Recieving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae!
- 45441, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2Stop faking me out.
Someone let me know when the real lineup is posted.
Kthxbye. - wowsah156, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2We need a Tin Machine comeback!! Or better Ziggy Stardust doing Tin Machine covers!!!
- ScottoGato, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2***** you, man. I was pumped at first. Fake!
- LemonHerb, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2I saw TOOL at Coachella a couple of years ago, they were awesome but that venue is horrible. It was so hot and crowded and they only opened one gate to let people leave, took hours just to walk out to the parking lot. It was so hot and crowded people were just picking up random water bottles off the ground to get something to drink.
- phrenzy, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2No ***** - Moz sites are frightening. The regular posters on that site are really frighteningly bitter people who find the time to write pages long diatribes on just about every topic posted. Every once in a while when I go check for tour dates / album news / whatever, I see the same people that have been posting for a decade writing "frightening words" at long length.
Some of those ***** are probably eating the neighborhood children in their 'spare' time. - inactive, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2More Scarlett Johanson covering other people!!!
*lights lighter, is gay* - UnarmedHippo, on 01/29/2009, -0/+2i pity your ignorance
- cpaterson89, on 01/29/2009, -1/+2forgiven
- rowbot, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1i dont know but i think daft punk is going to be at EDC
- danconia, on 01/29/2009, -1/+2I'll see all you guys there! I'll be the guy with his shirt on his head, wearing aviators, dancing like a maniac, and so full of drugs that I won't know what's going on.
So basically I'll blend in quite well. The EDM stage will be the place to be.
PS Don't count on Daft Punk to play at Coachella. Yes they have in the past but they're working on an album this year and for some reason everyone always loves to start Daft Punk rumors about every EDM contocert/event. EDC is still like 5 months away and people are already starting the Daft Punk rumors.
Everyone needs to do themselves a favor and never expect Daft Punk to randomly play at their event. Unless it's a Daft Punk concert specifically then you're just going to be disappointed. Daft Punk doesn't have time to show up to every little shindig here and there, especially considering they're European.
With that said, I hope I see all you ***** at Coachella and I hope the shirts are bleeding colors all over your skeletal body while MSTRKRFT is pounding in our ears. ***** ANNOUNCE THE LINEUP ALREADY! - UnarmedHippo, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1i felt like you said march 1,000 times in that paragraph
- BowieInSpace, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1yes he is
- smacksaw, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1Richard Blade (I think) reported that The Smiths were going to play...if they do, awesome. If not, I guess we avoid the apocalypse for another day.
I'd check one of those Morrissey websites for info, but the only thing more depressing than Morrissey are websites detailing his every move in microscopic detail. I love Moz, but part of it is the mystery. - 45441, on 02/04/2009, -0/+1What does it mean if I like the fake one better? :p
- josepablos, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1Ziggy PLAAAAY GUITAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!.. but not in coachella 09
- Myonosken, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1Don't think it'll beat last Summer's tour tbh. Blowout getting resurrected/ the Hyde Park gigs were insane.
- babyheadout, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1Here's the trick:
Look up club/concert listing in the Los Angeles/Santa Barbara/San Francisco areas in April. Many of the Coachella bands tend to add shows either a couple days before or after Coachella. That way you get to save $$, see who you want, and enjoy a full setlist (as opposed to the likely shortened festival set list) - babyheadout, on 01/30/2009, -0/+1I get a kick out of reading Coachella line-up threads and people's sense of entitlement and expectations that Golden Voice *should* bring over/reunite their favorite band.
- enotswhat, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1this should be dugg up more
- rowbot, on 02/02/2009, -0/+1its posted.
- SenorCardgage74, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1The Daft Punk performance was epic, and its turning in to this generations Woodstock, in that more people CLAIM to have been there than were actually there. (not referring to you guys BTW)
- Myonosken, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1The Smiths are never going to reform- Morrissey is too pig headed to ever admit he was wrong and make up with Joyce and Rourke.
Not to mention the fact people haven't even managed to reunite him and Marr yet, who were the closest. - dylio, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1I wish I could remember that night....
- Myonosken, on 01/31/2009, -0/+1My god...it'd be at a volume like 9/11 times a thousand.
- jonnybreakbeat, on 01/30/2009, -0/+0Man, if these guys aren't at Coachella, it puts some doubts on the summer festivals.. especially when I heard rumors of Britney Spears at Coachella! I really hope the summer festivals will be good this year... I'm looking forward to Feb. 3rd when Bonnaroo announces its lineup...Phish and Springsteen possible... eh, could be better in my opinion...
