- perlogik, on 08/20/2008, -9/+154As a Charlottesville native this really saddens me. He died from complications from an ATV accidents. He was a hometown guy who never forget where he came from.
My prayers go out to his family - twoyears, on 08/20/2008, -11/+132DMB wont be the same!
- KidTechno, on 08/20/2008, -6/+127If I go before I’m old
Oh brother of mine please don’t forget me if I go
Oh and if I die before my time
Oh sweet sister of mine please don’t regret me if I go - maxtrix, on 08/20/2008, -9/+116So sad... the original DMB is no more...
It's amazing that they are going to play as scheduled tonight - amusician, on 08/20/2008, -9/+93I can't believe it, this is truly a loss for the music community.
- silentex, on 08/20/2008, -13/+90What the hell is it with all of the disrespectful ***** in this thread? Grow the hell up.
- KennMac, on 08/20/2008, -4/+60The strangest, but most wonderful thing happened after I heard the news. I sadly got into my car after hearing about Leroi's passing. I hit 'play' on my iPod which is currently in shuffle mode on over 3000 random songs. The first song to play was Bartender, the song you just quoted above. Also, that's the first song DMB played tonight as a tribute to Leroi.... and I later realized I was listening to the song in my car at the same time it was being played at the Staples center.

RIP Leroi. You will be sorely missed by all. - Bologner, on 08/20/2008, -10/+59Eat, drink, and be merry.
For tomorrow we die.
Damnit, Leroi. - bobjohnsonmilw, on 08/20/2008, -13/+61I can't stand their music, but they're great musicians. Regardless of whether or not you got into the band, you have to agree.
It sucks more and more when I hear about people I (even remotely) respect, die. What's with 2008? Sheesh, a lot of famous people dying... - Bricks, on 08/20/2008, -7/+45Leroi was a wonderful, deeply talented musician. His legacy will live on through his music. I grew up with this band and many others did too - no matter what you think of Dave Matthews Band, this is a sad day.
- aguynamedben, on 08/20/2008, -10/+43See you at heaven's amphitheater, The Gorge, in a week, buddy. RIP.
- cmakvaca, on 08/20/2008, -8/+35wow.
just put on "lie in our graves" from red rocks. haven't listened to it in forever. rip. - Hartline83, on 08/20/2008, -8/+34My prayers go out to his family, the band, and the legions of fans around the world. Leroi was a class act and it is truly a sad day for all DMB fans.
- Bologner, on 08/20/2008, -3/+27I cannot believe you are getting buried. That was the most respectful comment on here.
Go home, 4chan. - silentex, on 08/20/2008, -7/+30Who cares if you're a DMB fan? It's a wonderful concept called "respect."
And, clearly, you're the douche. - aelias, on 08/20/2008, -8/+30Listen to the flute intro on "Say Goodbye".
RIP - howdareyou, on 08/20/2008, -3/+22Bartender opened tonight's show, I can't believe they went ahead and played. As I'm writing this they are still playing, unbelievable.
- OwdenBowden, on 08/20/2008, -2/+21Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Feel the rain
I can feel the rain
Gravedigger - stevenr21, on 08/20/2008, -8/+27it'll be tough replacing him. RIP
- coollettuce, on 08/20/2008, -9/+27I hate it when people use the term African-American. First it assumes their ancestors are from Africa. Second it assumes that the black person someone is referring to is American. Third it assumes that all Africans are black. It's quite possible for a white person to be a African-American or for a black person to be neither African nor American.
- scottc, on 08/20/2008, -5/+23LeRoi and his music will be greatly missed, and DMB won't be the same, but this is a great band who can adapt well to change. This year their keyboardist quit a few days before the tour started, and then Leroi got hurt in June, and they still sound great. In fact, for those of us who have seen them many times over the years the changes were kind of refreshing. Jeff Coffin is the perfect replacement for Leroi. Hopefully he will stay on after this tour.
RIP LeRoi. - turk2008, on 08/20/2008, -7/+25That's too bad. He was a good part of the band.
- PCloadLetterWTF, on 08/20/2008, -2/+18I played that song (not literally me) at my brothers wake when he passed away. RIP LeRoi
- micheleh4p9, on 08/20/2008, -8/+25A brilliant man who made beautiful music, the music world will never be the same, RIP you will be missed.
- howdareyou, on 08/20/2008, -7/+24I always feel weird digging stories like this.
I can't believe I'll never see the original members of DMB play together again.
RIP LeRoi. - kidjay, on 08/20/2008, -1/+15Come in from the cold for a while
Everything will be alright
Come in from the noise for a time
Everything will be alright
Everything will be alright
For now, goodbye, friend,
Goodbye. - djhyperman, on 08/20/2008, -11/+25I agree. This is a tragedy for his family and the ville. I hope someone close was with him!
- blumathu, on 08/20/2008, -8/+22This is horrible news. DMB will never be the same, and LeRoi will be missed.
- KMartSheriff, on 08/20/2008, -7/+23Your ignorance is astounding.
- Protoss, on 08/20/2008, -3/+18It means Rest In Peace. That doesn't seem to perpetuate any religious tones.
- unable, on 08/20/2008, -6/+21One of the greatest rock saxophonists.
- darkciti2, on 08/20/2008, -5/+20I don't believe in the "prayer" thing, but we've certainly lost a great musician.
I'll never hear Ants Marching without thinking of him... - silentex, on 08/20/2008, -8/+23An absolutely amazing musician. DMB will never be the same.
Thank you for the memories, Roi.
"I seem caught in time
My head leaves me behind
Body falls cold
And I see heaven" - KMartSheriff, on 08/20/2008, -1/+15What the ***** is wrong some of you diggers? It's like you're so anti-religious that you go out of your way (even in death) to avoid saying something like RIP. The man is dead. Grow up.
- TimmyGUNZ, on 08/20/2008, -7/+20So sad. The music world lost one of the most truly talented musicians.
- mtkdigg, on 08/20/2008, -9/+20That's a sad day!
- Ravatar, on 08/20/2008, -2/+14RIP is just tradition. There's nothing wrong with saying it and it doesn't imply any religion affiliation. I'm an atheist and I feel RIP is an appropriate term.
Are you that ***** that makes noise during a moment of silence just because "THERES NO POSSIBLE WAY THE PERSON COULD KNOW YOURE BEING SILENT FOR THEM, THEYRE DEAD!!!111"? - sherrell25, on 08/20/2008, -6/+18RIP LeRoi..you will be missed by many
- Idietired, on 08/20/2008, -2/+13I like how you worded that, Bricks.
I never was a big Dave Matthews fan. I liked a few songs, but I never got "hooked," one might say.
But I also grew up playing the saxophone all the way through to college. Leroi was part of a dying breed of horn-playing musicians. Much like most everybody else in that band, was crazy, ridiculously talented, and -- even as somebody who wasn't a fan -- I'm sorry he'll never play again. - thegodfaughnder, on 08/20/2008, -2/+13DMB has always been a collective band, and they shall never be the same.
The music industry lost a great soul today. - Groovel76, on 08/20/2008, -2/+13Your music changed my life. Leroi Moore, I tip my hat to you. We love you and we will never forget you.
Rest in peace good sir! - baldboy7, on 08/20/2008, -2/+13the sad thing is that there are too few of those kinds of people in this world. RIP
- bro2baseball, on 08/20/2008, -7/+17RIP
Leroi was a great saxophone player on all types of saxes, as well as other woodwinds. He will be missed. - zachimal, on 08/20/2008, -0/+10From "One Sweet World"
One sweet world
Around this star is spinning
One sweet world
In her breath I'm swimming
And here we will rest in peace. - jaredog, on 08/20/2008, -5/+15You know, only on Digg would someone be attacked for thinking of others and doing what they believe is best for the benefit of others. Cheers to you perlogik. I'll join you in prayer.
Digg makes Fox News look fair and balanced. - gregerly, on 08/20/2008, -3/+13listening to #34 On the Rocks - damn he was good. He will be missed...
- baldboy7, on 08/20/2008, -3/+12there is no replacing him. RIP
- sparf, on 08/20/2008, -0/+9"When I step into the light
my arms are open wide."
Great groove, and I'd never quite realized the meaning 'till now.
Here's to life, fleeting though it be.
Love, y'all. - mrbradg, on 08/20/2008, -2/+11I went to see them in Memphis and they said something about wishing him a quick recovery. I had no idea it was this bad.
R.I.P.
The band will never me the same. - pierrelourens, on 08/20/2008, -1/+9I say black. Is that so offensive?
I'm a white from South Africa, currently living in the United States. If I am known as a 'white' and it doesn't offend me, the term 'black' shouldn't offend anyone either. -
