- NightcrawlerX, on 06/10/2008, -5/+97 Rap used to reflect what was happening in the streets. Now the streets are reflecting what happens in rap.
- Jasper710, on 06/10/2008, -12/+49***** THE POLICE COMIN' STRAIGHT FROM THE UNDERGROUND
- Bukowsky, on 06/10/2008, -4/+28All classic rap songs, but I'm not too sure how "Damn it feels good to be a gangsta" made the list? Thats one of the most chilled out rap songs ever!
- Peachi, on 06/10/2008, -2/+23That's pretty deep, but you're right ;)
- PATSCRU, on 06/11/2008, -2/+22Incidentally, only one or two of the songs on the list were released after the mid-nineties, so most of them are within the time period that represented rap's golden age. Before rap became a cartoon of itself and had very important things to say. Whether you agree with their anti-police sentiments or not, they were/are real and very heartfelt.
- pintomp3, on 06/11/2008, -1/+15real hip-hop is alive and well, it's just not on mtv. judging rap by what's on tv is like judging metal by the hair metal bands.

great rap too.
Anything that starts:
"I am a nightmare walking psychopath talking
king of my jungle just a gangster stalking"
Has to be great. - xkingADROCKx, on 06/11/2008, -0/+9I hate to quote Wu-tang but there really is too much commercial *****.

Sure is more cop hatin' than Geto Boys... - macabaret, on 06/10/2008, -4/+12Instead of "Damn it Feels Good to be a Gangsta," there definitely should have been some Notorious on there. Maybe "Gimme the Loot" just for the ending?
(Oh *****! The cops!)

- dcconz, on 06/11/2008, -2/+9Great List, talk about reminiscing, a part from the Game track as that is only a couple months old.
With the recent Sean Bell verdict a new era of cop hating tracks have emerged. Below are some of my favorite (new school) cop hating tracks.
Papoose - Change Gon' Come (Sean Bell R.I.P)
Papoose - 50 Shots
Mickey Factz ā Iām Sean (50 Shots More)
Joell Ortiz ā Fifty Shots
Grafh - Not Guilty The Peoples Verdict - inactive, on 06/11/2008, -1/+8"Holla 187 on a mutha phuckin cop" - Snoop
- DeFex, on 06/11/2008, -0/+6How are you posting when you left digg. thats AMAZING!
- mastazed, on 06/10/2008, -3/+9that was a great post. i am personally sick of todays rap and hip hop music, it all seems to be about how much money they are making and there rhymes are never original. New hip hop just cant compare to EPMD or NWA.
- Rikkochet, on 06/11/2008, -2/+7Are you daft? Cops are criminals because they are enforcing laws? Take a step back and redirect your angst at someone less convenient: your lawmakers. Cops are employees of the state doing their jobs to enforce the regulations as created by the legislative branch. Blame the lawmakers, not the cops for deciding which laws they should enforce.
- skyfyre, on 06/11/2008, -4/+9I feel bad because even though I am a police officer, I like some of these songs. Nobody (myself included) should support any media that encourages or condones violence on groups of people. They aren't talking about killing virtual people in these songs...they're talking about real people with real lives and families...and that's just wrong.
- lordtyros, on 06/11/2008, -1/+6YOUS A BUSTA CJ!
- alexforcefive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+5Well I can't speak for modern rappers, but back when NWA etc got started, it was an artistic response to the situation that these young men found themselves in - uneducated, poor, futureless, stigmatised and persecuted. They wrote violent music in response, much like the punks in britain - although obviously there was more real life violence reflected in the rap lyrics.
Nowadays it's mostly just for show :( - stizz, on 06/11/2008, -2/+7SEARCHIN MY CAR LOOKIN FOR THE PRODUCT
THINKIN EVERY ***** IS SELLIN NARCOTICS - dasdef, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4you should check out Wale: the mixtape about nothing.
there are lots of quality rap artists out there, you just have to sift through the BS, which actually is a real bitch to do, which is why i stick to 90's hiphop. - inactive, on 06/11/2008, -4/+8Kurt Loader asked me what I say to a dead cop's wife
Cops kill my people everyday, that's life
Talib Kweli - The Proud - alexra, on 06/11/2008, -1/+5what happened to you Ice Cube!
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4Even Pac said he never went to jail until he became a rapper. "Somehow the rap game reminds me of the crack game."
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4R.I.P. That guy was ***** brilliant.
- bigrob75, on 06/11/2008, -1/+5What about Chuck D and Public Enemy? 911 is a joke! That should be on the list before damn it feels good to be a gangsta!
- nsummy, on 06/11/2008, -1/+5A great list full of classics. Cop Killer definitely should have been #1 though. That by far is the most offensive and hateful song to police. And not to be a rap snob, but the song was by a band named Body Count, not just Ice-T.
- solrac66, on 06/11/2008, -0/+4Also, it isn't a rap song. Body Count was Ice-T's venture into metal. "Cop Killer" is a metal song.
- FearNLoathing, on 06/11/2008, -3/+7J Dilla - ***** The Police
- Louis11, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3The list wasn't about who the better rappers where/are, nor was it about their 'battles' . . .
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3BODY COUNT'S cop killa is NOT a rap song. did this ***** actually listen to the songs, or did he pick anything that sounded anticop? body count was a METAL band through and through.
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Rage Against The Machine does a great cover of "***** Tha Police"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sj_mPVfiFPg - guillebravo6, on 06/11/2008, -2/+5great list! I love these tracks, I'm a big fan of hip hop music.
- dcconz, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Oh word how could I forget that track. Are they ever going to officially release the album that is on, think he was on MCA when that was recorded. I know it is on Vinyl but I have never found it.
- mrremy, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4So first off cops are criminals because they enforce the laws WRITTEN BY LAWMAKERS that are "against the constitution"? (which i'd like some examples if you are able to come up with some)
Sounds like you need some basic correlation skills. Cops are paid to enforce the laws, lawmakers are paid to (now this may come as a surprise) MAKE THE LAWS.
If you have a problem with the laws, it's the LAWMAKERS you should be bitching about/talking to. Jesus people. - ssmith2k3, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3http://youtube.com/watch?v=lZsvVNsnpB0

- sockpuppets, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3I'm not familiar with that one, who sings it?
- 0011002, on 06/11/2008, -1/+4I agree and i just don't understand why people back these song so much. I'm not tiring to say they are crap or anything but why does a culture that fought to be free suddenly hold proud to call themselves "*****" but at the same token will cry fowl anytime someone else uses the term. Not tring to cause a scene just generally curious. I like Rock personally and as far as i can remember there aren't any songs i listen to that condone killing someone. So would someone mind explaining to me what is so facinating about rap/hip hop that does?
- inactive, on 06/11/2008, -3/+5I love Nas (really) but wonder if hiphop, etc. will every have lyrics glorifying night school or moving to another state to get a job?? Some cops might be ***** but if you're at Home Depot at 5am lined up to get a construction job will you be more or less likely to be arrested? Can you not set your alarm for 4am like the non english immigrants and get to Home Depot on the bus by 5? Most older black guys I know / talk with say the same thing - they are concerned that "the youth of today" are hooked on glorifying how tough they are instead of submitting to authority (even older black men!) and getting a god damn job or going to school. Worse yet, when people like Cosby come forward they are made fun of ... and so the cycle continues; bragging about being idiots and wallowing in their victimhood. If _an older_ Malcolm X saw these kids he would most certainly call them what they are: white- blaming bums that keep looking outside their own community for a saviour instead of shaping up and looking for answers.
/end rant of white guy with black friends in their 40s, 50s and even 60s -
