- roadkillkid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+63It's ok RIAA - don't worry. You could always try suing my 98 yr old grandmother next. I think she once borrowed Lawrence Welk's 'Songs of Faith' from the public library and never returned it. She's been publicly broadcasting it over the nursing home PA system during the intervals in their Bingo game on Tuesdays. Would you like the address?
/stoolie - n0sferatu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+37hasn't that already happened?
http://www.betanews.com/article/RIAA_Sues_Deceased_Grandmother/1107532260 - fletch101, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23She needs to counter sue them for all the money, time and mental anguish they put her family through.
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Wow, you're behind the times. They started suing dead people long ago. :-P
- therernospoons, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Now that's low. RIAA and MPAA are really starting to look like the mafia of the 21st century.
- Dustyb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16How long untill they sue someone that has already died?
- jefffm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11yeah, sadly we live in a country where not only is this possible, but it's been done...
...dugg... - Edogz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10For a bunch more information on this story.

fwew - knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I would sue them for libel as a result of a failed suit. I don't think you could lose, because you could say it has stressed you out and made you a target of negativity.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+15This is not a story, this is boingboing fluff pointing to a story that was dugg 2 days ago. I gotta report it.

- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Dupes hurt the quality of digg, so saying a story is a dupe in the comments is not useless. The old argument "some of us haven't seen it" is somewhat selfish because some of us have. Let's keep the frontpage for *new* stories!
- johndi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7That's funny, but it is redeeming. It helps to get Dupes off the front page so new stories can take their place. I know that the Digg search engine could use some help in finding dupes, so it's counterproductive to accuse any dupe of being intentional.
There are plenty of interesting stories that haven't hit the light yet. I think most users only Digg front page news, try hitting that little Digg for Stories button there are some gems down there. - Voide, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6...exactly what I was thinking...
I was wondering how they classify a 13 year old girl as "a little girl." At 13, you're at a point where you make your own decisions based on the consequences...good or bad. When it said "RIAA attempt to sue little girl" I was thinking more in the age demographic of like, 7 or something. - Voide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Personally, I think its pathetic that the RIAA/MPAA is trying to MAKE money off of pirating, instead of just trying to make up for what they've lost. Don't get me wrong, I believe that any company should have the right to take legal action against people who steal content, but there's a big difference between reimbursement and plain greed. Its wrong to sue people for thousands of dollars, when they've only stolen a couple songs or movies. In my opinion, the MPAA/RIAA should only be able to sue for what they've lost from that specific individual, and maybe a small fine on the side, as a slap on the wrist, but you cannot expect the average American citizen to dish out thousands of dollars just because some corporate giant wants to make some extra money. Its not fair.
RIAA & MPAA: Take your corporate dick out of your ass, sue for what you've lost, and give a slap on the wrist. Don't try and make up ***** media sales by suing people. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Boy...did nobody read the real story? The case was not thrown out because hte judge thought there was no merit in the suti. They did not give the evidence in a timely fashion.
And, I'm sorry, but 13 year old girls can't break the law? - AllenS, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I wouldn't trust anything that the RIAA would want to do with a little girl...
See, I took that headline and turned it around to make it look like the RIAA is a perverted little ***** sucking pedophile...but I guess I'm not really saying anything new =) - anthony0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Well, can't those of you who have already seen the article simply move on to the next? I don't get to see digg frontpage articles all the time, I have a life. So, I miss many of these articles that end up being dupes or old. If you already read about it, move on to the next but let the dupes stay for those that missed them. What is wrong with this policy?
- mastershake1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Wait, you didn't say "NO DIGG!!!!!!!!!11one!" If you're going to make a post with no redemptive value that simply criticizes the thread for linking to a blog, at least point out how important you are by saying that you didn't dig the article.
- Massif, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Has Sexual Harassment Panda taught us nothing?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6people make a big deal about the MPAA, but so far all i've heard them bitching about is DRM
it's true, the RIAA is up to no good, but the MPAA i can kinda believe with their DRM rants, seriously, how many of you have downloaded a feature-length multi-million-dollar-budget movie? (its ok, i wont mind you modding me down for supporting DRM on movies) - knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Do you have issues with coming to direct conclusions in a timely manner?
This ***** has gone on for a long time. It has 'just started'. - jer2eydevil88, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Damn Right!!! The RIAA should not have any opportunity to take these kids futures away!!!
- randall814, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2and i thought that living here in michigan sucked... it really makes one feel so unappreciative.
- monsieurgrand02, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have to give it to the RIAA. At least they're persistant.
*****' bastards. - DougPenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They'll wait until she's 18, and then re-sue her. RIAA is cruel like that...
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I don't get to see digg frontpage articles all the time, I have a life."
I am really tired of this argument - it is trying to shift the blame onto the people who cry "dupe!" Theoretically, every article that gets dugg to the front page replaces another. So an article that perhaps no one has seen got replaced by one that maybe 50% of the people have seen. How does this make sense? What do you have against seeing that other article? Are you really so important that we need to keep a duped article on the front page just because you never saw it?
Oh, and get off your damn high horse - I miss plenty of front page articles too because I'd like to think I also have a life. I just don't bitch about missing those articles and try insulting others in the process. - zen.state, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1whats next? family pets? RIAA scum
- cvelusc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Michigan, Thank You for inducing a little bit of sanity into the world.
- mousky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Look at all the people ranting and raving - didn't you guys do this a day or so ago when the link to the p2p article was submitted to digg? Instead of posting links to p2p and BoingBoing, why not link to the original source of these inaccurate posts: http://recordingindustryvspeople.blogspot.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Ahaha I cant wait for that. SIr. we are suing your mini schnauzer for downloading who let the dogs out.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I could probably provide them a list of stillborn children, they might want to sue them too. After all, whos next after kids, grandmothers and dead people?!
- JohnboiWaltune, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I think the idea of a cartel of mega corporations suing a teenager is absurd. However, at 13, a person is old enough to know you don't get something for nothing, at least not legally. The proper way to handle this is to dress her up in a pink frilly nightgown and cartoon character underwear, so I can administer a bare bottom spanking.

Of course, copyright infringement is one of the most well known subjects among 13-year-old girls.
/sarcasm - prthealien, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Why is this in the front page? It was already on the front page yesterday ...

how about animal? they should try it. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Nice story. I enjoyed it YESTERDAY too!
Dupe! ...or maybe a time warp. - kai05yang, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2i thought Americans learned the lessons of what policy is bad to make during the cold war from the Soviets, guess ten years is too long for them to remember.
- sekicho, on 10/12/2007, -4/+113 is small? Small for a person, maybe, but not for a "girl."
- phpirate, on 10/12/2007, -14/+7I know this is a repost. I've seen the source article from the front page before.
