http://rorr.im/digg.com/music/bruce_springsteen_po ... - morgens2, on 02/18/2009, -3/+7I'm sorry, but anyone who talks bad about Bruce on here automatically loses any credibility when it comes to talking about music.
- TheCynic, on 02/18/2009, -1/+5I looked around for a few, but all I could find were obvious fakes. If you know of any real ones, I will be happy to put them in. Cheers!
- rdhogan7713, on 02/18/2009, -1/+4Rock posters, even for artists I don't like, are always very cool.
- jhails, on 02/18/2009, -1/+4Springsteen sold his soul to Wall Mart.
- stormgren, on 02/18/2009, -2/+5If you don't like Bruce Springsteen then you've never seen him live. He's amazing live. Studio work--off and on, particularly his newer stuff. But he can captivate an audience like no other musician.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGU0z1DGO8E - stormgren, on 02/18/2009, -1/+3They all have good guitarists. Well, fast guitarists, anyway. Their songs are tedious and have no emotional content or meaning. I can't deny their technical proficiency.
But I'm entirely sure why that makes them "good." - sturm4403, on 02/18/2009, -1/+3I love Rock Posters !!! Especially Agates ,Emeralds. etc.
- AishaAli, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2Bruce Springsteen is good a musician, but I tend to like his earlier music before he became commercialized. However, I have heard musicians that are better than him-- a lot of underground musicians are. However, they have yet to get shined on or may never be shined on because they are not marketable in the eyes of many music mogul CEOs. If a CEO cannot make a huge profit from his product, then he will pass. This is the case with hip-hop, soul, etc..if the person is not marketable and willing to "sell out" on the integrity of his/her music, they will never see the public at-large. Sad, but it's true. The music industry is a dirty game.
- tkilgore04, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2Upvoted until I clicked that link.
- tkilgore04, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2I've only liked The Boss since he threw his crotch into a superbowl camera. I wish my grandfather would do things like that on tv.
- buxmeister, on 02/18/2009, -0/+2Dugg for a Portland OR web site!! woohoo.
Cool posters as well :) - jocknerd, on 02/18/2009, -1/+3Wow. I didn't know pre-teens could match his lyrics. There's more to music than just playing an instrument.
- inactive, on 02/19/2009, -0/+2I remember paying $5 to see a band. Who would have known at the time they'd become what they are today.
- morgens2, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2I'm sorry, but you are widely in the minority and really should have listened to me when I told you to please stop.
- morgens2, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1This is absolutely hilarious. You're comparing Bruce to Britney? You have become a joke at this point. My field of view is hardly narrow, I listen to almost any genre and enjoy a wide range of artists. I've had every little phase of music listening that I need to to know what's good and what's not any more. I can guarantee you that I despise some things that I listened to 8 years ago because I've studied and researched my music and grew. It sounds like you still have to do that so don't talk down to me. Just because Bruce sells high numbers doesn't automatically discount him from being good. He sells high numbers because he's been around for awhile and he's CLASSIC. The fact that you dismiss bands like The Stones and Elvis Costello proves my point. You come off like you'd hate The Beatles or Dylan just because they sold a lot of records. Now STAND DOWN. You don't know what you're talking about.
Furthermore, just because you took an entry level course on music theory doesn't make you an expert. - WhatsUpWithJack, on 02/18/2009, -2/+3IT'S BOSS TIIIIIMMMEEE!!!!!!
- morgens2, on 02/18/2009, -2/+3I would love to hear your examples of real musicians, and I would also love to see a preteen just learning to play recreate the complexities of songs like "Backstreets" and "Incident on 57th Street" among many others. Bruce is one of the few people that helped catapult rock 'n roll. Learn some history.
- julianmaestas, on 02/18/2009, -1/+2a lot of the pictures are unavailble due to server issues...
- morgens2, on 02/19/2009, -0/+1Well to be fair, Atlantic City is the best song off Nebraska. If you want a real take at Bruce try out "Incident on 57th Street", or "New York Serenade" off of The Wild, The Innocent, & The E Street Shuffle, as well as "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" and "Born to Run" off of Born to Run. If you can't rock out to Born to Run you have no soul.
- barnis, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2My uncle, David Michael Kennedy http://www.davidmichaelkennedy.com took at least two of those photos. One of them at a family home in North Salem New York.
http://www.portlandposterpole.com/a-hfeb09/Bruce-S ...
http://www.davidmichaelkennedy.com/portraits/bruce ...
He also published a book of Springsteen Portraits which are all quite good some of them are here
http://homepage.mac.com/guywhite/.Public/Nebraska. ... - morgens2, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2To expand upon my previous post, I would have respected you much more if you listed off bands even close to The Stones, Elvis Costello, Husker Du, The Clash, Nick Cave, The Hold Steady, Drive-by Truckers, Mclusky, or the Replacements. Bands that actually know a thing or two about rock & roll.
- stormgren, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2You really think it's drivel? Wow. I have no words.
Right now. Go, listen to Nebraska. Right now, quietly, no interruptions. And then come back and tell me that it's still drivel, so I know you're lying. - morgens2, on 02/19/2009, -1/+2Please stop Namakemono, you're embarrassing yourself. You have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to real music. To put bands like Rush and Iron Maiden at the top of the game ahead of Springsteen is damn near laughable. Funny lyrics? Have you even listened to him? Christ man, go back to your high school music theory class that you think entitles you to such profound music taste.
- dwninjungleland, on 02/18/2009, -1/+2Nama-
No one WANTS to duplicate the boring drivel put out by Rush and Dream Theater.
Yeah.
Boring.
Sure, Neal Pert is an extremely technically proficient, but when compared to the roots rock n roll of bruce, Rush comes off as pretentious, annoying, and boring.
Bruce is unique in that his work is both musically and technically interesting AS WELL AS fun to listen to.
People with your attitude make me sad. Just because you have some musical experience (probably laughable) doesn't mean you can look down on artists who have had real impact on the musical world.
If you try and compare Born to Run and Jungleland, or Rosalita against New York City Serenade-- pairs of songs that came off of one album apiece. Bruce can weave musical complexity, poetry, and an actual good time all into one track, and in different ways. Something Iron Maiden definitely could never do.
GOOD DAY SIR - petebot, on 02/18/2009, -1/+2Isn't there a conan episode where Max Weinberg spoofs the born in the USA one?
- serif69, on 02/18/2009, -1/+1As a resident of Asbury Park, I am offended.
- morgens2, on 02/18/2009, -2/+2Thank you, stormgren. I was coming to post the exact same thing. Complexity =/= good.
Namakemono, the fact that you refer to Bruce as 3 chord nonsense only leads me to believe that you've never even listened to him. That or you're too indignant to actually give him a chance. - Built4JerzyLinx, on 02/18/2009, -2/+2I said it once, I'll say it again: The man is a pariah. He has a fantastic band that he never utilizes, and his music is cliche at best. His cheese factor is through the roof. How he became a musical icon is beyond me. He's a 5th rate Dylan.
- CptHawkeyeLQ, on 02/18/2009, -0/+0You say that Bruce Springsteen is overrated and then you link to Tool? Are you out of your mind?
You have zero music credibility. And I just registered this account to inform you of that. - removedby, on 05/30/2009, -0/+0The Boss has nude photos from his late 80's tour on the east coast.
You can find them all at http://celebnudemale.com - search Bruce Springsteen and Wa La. - inactive, on 04/05/2009, -0/+0Yo music http://www.yomuzik.net Yo Music ! Yo music http://www.yomuzik.net Yo Music !
- morgens2, on 02/18/2009, -1/+1@Built4JerzyLinx
You should have left it at saying it once. Do you even know what a pariah is? Did you just learn the word and are desperate to prove your expansive knowledge? I understand people are going to ridicule him but at least use an adjective that makes sense in describing him.
Furthermore, I don't know where you get off on saying he never utilizes his band, they're a very integral part on almost all his songs. Also explain to me how he is cliche? I don't see anyone else talking about the average everyday working man. If you want cliche turn to any of the mainstream crap that is pushed today. I'll give you the fact that he can be cheesy sometimes, but that's part of his live shows and creating the experience. If you're only experience with him is the Super Bowl, he's not usually that over the top, and also the classic Bruce is pure rock 'n roll through and through. And I'd probably say he's on part with Dylan as far as iconicism goes. - Namakemono, on 02/19/2009, -1/+1storm
I took you up on that offer. I just listened to "Highway Patrolman", "State Trooper", and "Used Cars" (just picked random songs from the album). It was painful. I'm not just being a dick. I truly don't see how you can be so impressed with that. Is it an east coast thing or something?
My original stance remains. I like Bruce the man, but his music is weak (and that's being kind). - Namakemono, on 02/19/2009, -2/+2LOL @ morgens
Not that I already didn't know how off the mark you already are. You had to solidify it by listing a bunch of bands with mediocre talent. Thanks for proving my point! It's okay to like that stuff. Just don't go around telling people you know anything about music. You'll get laughed at.
Move along. - Namakemono, on 02/18/2009, -3/+2@morgens2
How about Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, or Rush? You can't seriously think that Bruce is that caliber of musician. I was playing Metallica (their stuff from the 80's) when I was 12 which is ridiculously more complex than Bruce's 3 chord nonsense.
Try again. - Namakemono, on 02/19/2009, -2/+1I'm in the minority on a Bruce post. Of course. And majority makes it true eh? The majority of people, yourself especially, are absolutely clueless about music. This is why Bruce sells so much along with Britney and other nonsense like that. Take a few classes, go to a few concerts, open your narrow field of view, and you'll appreciate good music someday. Until then, move along.
- Namakemono, on 02/18/2009, -3/+2My thoughts exactly. I've seen garage bands at high school parties that were more impressive.
- Namakemono, on 02/19/2009, -2/+1@dwninjungleland
Wow, ignorance just got 1-upped by you. It's okay if you like mainstream "drivel" like Bruce or Tom Petty (same 3-chord yawn-inducing crap). It's cute every now and then. The occasional "funny" lyric and all. It makes good background music for a get together. But to compare the "Boss" to real musicians is hilarious and sad at the same time. - Infowarsdotcom, on 02/18/2009, -4/+3I don't mean to offend the Boss or any of his fans but...
Is Bruce Springsteen not the most overrated musician of all time?
I'm not saying he's not good but is he really THAT good? I just don't feel his songs. Then again...I prefer songs like this...

***** pasta coma... - Namakemono, on 02/18/2009, -3/+1@storm
You just demonstrated how little you know about the bands I just mentioned (Rush is not known for their guitarist, for one). Anyone who has taken music classes or has a true appreciation of music sees the "emotional content" at a Rush or Yes concert. I've come to tears and goosebumps seeing them live. - bonerfide, on 02/18/2009, -3/+1I'm from NJ and they make such a big deal out of him because he's from here. He is so overrated! He can't even sing.
- Built4JerzyLinx, on 02/18/2009, -6/+2Springsteen is a pariah.
- Namakemono, on 02/18/2009, -5/+1You've just lost the credibility of real musicians. The "Boss'" music is easily duplicated by pre-teens just learning to play. Not impressed.
- wildone71, on 02/18/2009, -8/+2Oh my god, Springsteen? what a tool.
