- SweetDaddyD, on 08/28/2009, -8/+51Nickelback sucks.
- AndrewDB, on 08/28/2009, -0/+34While they may break the rules, they've got another hurdle to over come now too:
http://digg.com/music/Lyrics_sites_are_now_under_a ...
Lyrics sites are now being sued by the music industry. - Puppetfunk, on 08/28/2009, -6/+30Nickelback Sucks.
- frieddonuts, on 08/28/2009, -0/+24Where are we expected to go for lyrics? Most bands don't include the lyrics in their album liners anymore and I can't think of any industry-official site that acts as an encyclopedia for lyrics. This is *****.
- jamesc7, on 08/27/2009, -1/+20This will work only if you are a die hard fan of a band. This is more like a gimmick if anything.
- MetalHead73, on 08/28/2009, -3/+20They're ok.
- heavyj1970, on 08/28/2009, -2/+16your kidding right? that's like saying all metal sounds the same, maybe your just old :)
- twiztidsinz, on 08/28/2009, -2/+14<idiotic comment regarding 'Korn' as 'corn' and/or something about how they suck, possibly comparing them to NIN and how they're so much better than Korn despite the fact that it's a different genre even though I'm a hardcore NIN fan that thinks their old stuff was SOOOOOOO much better better than the new stuff cuz I'm super cool and have liked them before it was cool to like them.>
People will like stuff even if you don't.
Get the ***** over yourself. - AustinMeoang, on 08/28/2009, -1/+12You don't listen to much rock/alternative/metal music do you? I hate to use those kind of labels, but people who DON'T like a genre will often feel like any music similar to it is exactly the same. Korn and NIN are drastically different, just trust us.
- smallerrock, on 08/27/2009, -6/+17if korn found a way... all hope is lost for mankind!!!
- JRowe3388, on 08/28/2009, -2/+12I've been a fan of Korn since the 90s. Although I'm into more "real" metal and progressive music, I still enjoy some Korn as a side dish.
- MetalHead73, on 08/28/2009, -1/+10One song had nursery rhymes in it. One.
And it was actually a very good listen. - alexownzyou, on 08/28/2009, -8/+17i love korn :)
- JRowe3388, on 08/28/2009, -1/+7Atticus Ross produced the last two Korn records. Atticus Ross works with Trent on NIN's music.
They both rose to their height of success in the 90s and early 00's.
They're similar musically as well, at least newer Korn music.
I love them both, don't get me wrong here. - Coven, on 08/28/2009, -0/+6Radiohead is mentioned in the submission and the article in question?
- rjshatz, on 08/28/2009, -3/+9Please, before you people bury me, explain why. I need closure on this subject.
- boulderomen, on 08/28/2009, -2/+8it was good in the 90's
- dusthust, on 08/28/2009, -0/+6Yeah this is for more die hard fans of bands because the subscription also pays for meet and greets, pre sale opportunities, and video chats with the band. If you're not a die hard fan of a band, you're more likely just to purchase/download the album.
Their site is a part of Modlife, a service created by Tom DeLonge from blink-182. - EricSchC1, on 08/28/2009, -0/+6Spoken like someone who pays very little attention. Methodology of recording, production & performance counts for a lot in rock music. Even if they're stylistically similar, as far as rock bands go, they're not that similar.
- energyx, on 08/28/2009, -0/+5best video evar: (getting rocks thrown at them)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7F3O6WYfHQ - infinityredux, on 08/28/2009, -2/+7While I like NIN and don't like Korn, I think people on the internet tend to overrate Trent because of his stances on piracy and digital distribution.
- inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+5I'm sick of people who haven't even thoroughly listened to either band say "they suck" or "they don't suck". Most of the people forming these opinions don't know anything about music.
That being said, "Hurt" is a great song, I don't care what any of you losers think. - PatchesOhulihan, on 08/28/2009, -0/+4No, Wolfgarden is right; Thom Yorke is a *****. He made fun of Scot Tenorman for crying after Cartman fed his parents to him.
- inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+4I think RIAA and related idiots just hate us. I mean what harm is there in knowing the words to your favorite songs that perhaps you BOUGHT from an RIAA label?
- w1cked1, on 08/28/2009, -0/+4You have to join the fan club, pay up the ***** fees, and then you can order them seperately after you've collected all 12 T-shirts and all three box sets.... DUHHH.
- JRowe3388, on 08/28/2009, -1/+5If their last few albums hadn't sold so well, you'd be right.
Untitled (newest album) went gold.
See You On The Other Side went platinum.
They're still very much alive and kicking. - TehProphet, on 08/28/2009, -0/+4have you even listened to any of the new stuff? their newest album wasn't the best, but evolution and love and luxury were pretty awesome songs. and See you on the other side wasn't a bad album either. Untouchables and take a look in the mirror were amazing albums and they both came out after make me bad was released.
- heavyj1970, on 08/28/2009, -0/+3I'll explain what I meant, it's like when your parents tell you all of that music sounds the same, you know it's not true but that's the way they see it, I think all country sounds the same, that's just me, oh btw I'm a little older than 12, thanks though
- twiztidsinz, on 08/28/2009, -0/+3In YOUR opinion.....
I happen to like it in addition to their older stuff. - alrightwtf, on 08/28/2009, -1/+4@GordonFree
You, sir, are a dick. lighten up. - huntermcwhite, on 08/28/2009, -2/+5korn's still around?
i thought their guitarist turned to christianity or some *****. - Tyrghast, on 08/28/2009, -2/+5There's a huge difference between the complex music and politically charged lyrics of NIN http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCjpyPqwXNA&fea ...
and the simple, one chord, 'trying to be edgy' hard 'rock' of Korn http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRNbTUq5cPk&fea ... - inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+3I don't remember a band by what the people look like. That might be your problem, rjshatz.
- rjshatz, on 08/28/2009, -0/+3Okay, that's valid. But it still doesn't explain why people bash Korn for "sounding like *****."
- inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+3Dude, that cover is fantastic.
- SketchaMPM, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2The most recent two or three albums were an embarrassment though.
- inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2NIN already figured out the perfect method with Ghosts.
Part of the album for free
whole thing downloaded for $5 with many choices of format including FLAC
Actual CD for $10
Fan packs with the CDs and other cool stuff if you want to.
Something for everyone.
I realize for an act like NIN this is a lot easier to do than a small band, but a smaller act could still offer some options to best serve their fans instead of the interest of a label. I think this still serves as the best model. - thejackyl, on 08/29/2009, -0/+2@ rjshatz: Have you ever listened to an NIN album? They don't sound anything like Korn.
I advise you to pick up The Downward Spiral right now...before it's too late - MurphyWatson, on 08/28/2009, -2/+4I also suppose you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if a fat kid bumped you or you got hit by a semi.
- LordByr0n, on 08/28/2009, -1/+3@rjshaz Easily offended are you? Why so cynical? Learn to live and enjoy life and music. Both are vast and have a lot to offer. Try not to limit yourself to one genre for ignorance is not always bliss.
And for the record, I like both NIN and Korn as well and would have to say that NIN is better only because Trent is one original mofo, mind you, I have never seen NIN in concert but Korn is stellar live. Family values ftw. - thejackyl, on 08/29/2009, -0/+2Wrong. Radiohead have been huge in the underground scene ever since OK Computer. They're selling out arenas to this day.
- ProfessorSexy, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2dugg for most relevant statement ever made regardless of article
- bdbr, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2FTA: "The new frontier and everyone has a shot at putting together the right combination of what will ultimately be the best way to deliver and produce music"
...after you become a celebrity through the RIAA, of course.
I love how these articles pretend that "everyone" can just bring up a website and make a living selling music. - rjshatz, on 08/28/2009, -2/+4See, if that clip didn't include the guy introducing them, I would have assumed it was Korn. The dude with the dreads in the spotlight (I'm assuming it's Trent Reznor) looks exactly like the singer from Korn.
- Swivelstick, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2Harm absolutely none, they see it as lost revenue or potential revenue. It's the no free lunch perspective once a lot of services used to be free and seen as good customer service today you pay for everything or in many cases are over charged.
- AustinMeoang, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2I'm not trying to bash you or anything, just trying to provide an explanation. Korn follows that whole "nu-metal" movement with their music, while Nine Inch Nails (to me, at least) has huge industrial influence, and that alone makes them sound very different. Another issue is that each Nine Inch Nails album sounds very different from the others, so maybe you just ran into an album that didn't agree with you. Also, Trent Reznor is infinitely more innovative and respectable than Korn, but that's just my opinion. I don't particularly dislike Korn in the first place, they're just sort of "silly".
- AustinMeoang, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2Because a lot of people like NIN's new music as well.
- Swivelstick, on 08/28/2009, -0/+2You are all wankers but still funny :)
- inactive, on 08/28/2009, -0/+1I don't know why you're getting buried.
