- IvenomI, on 10/23/2009, -6/+34Bradly Nowell was Sublime. Period.
You were gone too young Brad, I could only imagine what genius you would have produced if you were still alive.
You always have and always will be my favorite artist. R.I.P. Sublime. - hookedupphat, on 10/23/2009, -2/+28There are some bands that can replace a frontman and no one would really bat an eye.
That being said, Sublime is NOT one of those bands. - ejko, on 10/23/2009, -1/+14Why not go back on the road as the Long Beach Dub Allstars?
- gloebe, on 10/23/2009, -0/+13Wasn't there a band once upon a time calling itself Long Beach Dub All-Stars who was basically Sublime minus Brad Nowell and would 'cover' Sublime tunes? So if I'm understanding this correctly, they would like to do a show as they have for the last twelve years or so, only calling themselves Sublime.
I think they ought to put on a show with various artists covering Sublime. That would be way better. You can't have someone else stand in and sing those songs like Nowell did. But a tribute would be way better. - stoned420247, on 10/23/2009, -1/+14Agreed! Sublime died with Brad.
They should pick a different name. - gvoakes, on 10/23/2009, -1/+12R.I.P. Brad Nowell
- drumfreakruss3, on 10/23/2009, -0/+9They probably wouldn't make nearly as much money.
- OmNomNomBACON, on 10/23/2009, -1/+9I agree. It can never be the same without Brad.
- DjBearPDX, on 10/23/2009, -2/+8If only Kurt had enough foresight to copyright his image and music
- twiztidsinz, on 10/23/2009, -3/+9"You were gone too young Brad"
Yeah.. Heroin tends to do that to ya... - T8erT0T, on 10/23/2009, -1/+7see: Long Beach Dub Allstars
- KarmaPoIice, on 10/23/2009, -0/+5Truly one of the most under rated bands ever imo. If you don't believe me, track down the box set Everything Under the Sun. It's full of absolutely mind blowing live tracks and b sides.
- alabamasucks, on 10/24/2009, -3/+8Fact: Greatest Band Ever
- System6, on 10/24/2009, -0/+5Alice in chains and now Sublime? I know it stings your egos to hear it guys, but when your frontmen died, your band died. People know who you are barely, and it's only because you were in that band with that one guy.
I'm not saying you weren't awesome musicians and don't deserve fame and recognition, but take a hint from Dave Grohl. Foo Fighters was cool, and every now and then they covered Nirvana... but he knew who he was, and he knew who he wasn't.
So for the record... starting a new band and covering some of your old stuff live is cool, pretending like the most defining member of your band didn't die, not so much. - ultimusgt, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5I heard them this morning on Kevin and Bean on KROQ
to tell you the truth I was really skeptical, but they played date rape and what I got....
pretty damn good....
wanna see what else this guys got - leamanc, on 10/24/2009, -0/+4Thumbs up. Everybody was cool with them continuing on as Long Beach Dub Allstars, even singing Sublime song while they do so.
But apparently they are desperate enough for cash at this point to do what they KNOW is not right, and go forward as Sublime with a new singer. If Bradley hadn't written nearly all the material by himself, it would be one thing, but that's not the case.
Bradley (had he lived) could have dumped Eric and Bud and got two new guys and called it Sublime, but this just isn't cool. This ain't "Rockstar INXS" we're talking about here. - ultimusgt, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4damn the time ran out i know its not brad but just check it out

The interview was really good too - j0hn, on 10/24/2009, -0/+3He's a great singer and all, but nobody can replace Brad. I'll check them out, but they aren't Sublime to me.
- CanUTube, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4Never heard of this Rome guy. Anyone else?
- ZigZagZilla, on 10/23/2009, -1/+4Litigation is unfortunately so very rock 'n roll these days it seems. RIP childhood heroes.
- chokeaduck, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Aside from "Marigold" (which was a Grohl composition anyhow) what Nirvana songs did FF play?
- kjames00, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Just call the "new" band subliminal and everyone will be happy
- chinolofus, on 10/27/2009, -0/+2 both ac/dc and pink floyd were more successful after the incidents you stated. so how exactly did it not work for them?
- IvenomI, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2He quit heroin cold turkey for like 9 months. In a moment of weakness he shot up once at his old dosage and it killed him.
We are all mistake making human beings. His mistake killed him. - twiztidsinz, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Wasn't that story not true?
I thought I heard that the truth was he "quit", but didn't really stop. - DDRSkata, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2He did. Unfortunately, his estate is under Courtney Love's charge, so that doesn't really help.
- inactive, on 10/24/2009, -0/+2Yeah, he was truly one of the greats. If you don't like his body of work, you need to re-evaluate your reasons for listening to guitar driven pop. You're missing out.
- inactive, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1Date rape might be one of their easiest songs to cover though.
- alabamasucks, on 10/24/2009, -1/+2Everything you love sucks fyi
- GunForHireUK, on 10/24/2009, -2/+3I heard them on Kevin and Bean on KROQ this morning and I have to say, I liked what I heard. Honestly, I think people should give them a chance instead of bagging on them straight away. Rome has a great voice and they said in the interview this morning that the first time they jammed with him, it felt like the first time they jammed with Brad. Personally, I'm excited to see what comes of this. Alice In Chains and Pink Floyd are proof that a band can lose a key member but regain the magic with someone new.
- ihavefrowned, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1Dugg for tourette's ref.
- HardChargerxxx, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1A little taste of honey's worse than none at all . . .
- Maxwell1234, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1no.
- inactive, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1How about "Slime"? They aren't above anything IMO.
- Maxwell1234, on 10/28/2009, -0/+1ummm Cypress hill is B Real, Sen Dogg, DJ Muggs, and Bobo...
- inactive, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1It's not fair because as singer, songwriter, guitarist, Nowell really was the band. I find it hard to believe that any other band-mate contributed anything to the creative process although I could be wrong. A tribute would be awesome to see but there's few things that disgust me more than someone riding off somebody's coattails.
- WanderOn, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1look it up on youtube.
I really don't like him. His vibes are not very sublime - IvenomI, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1alabama sucks too apparently.
- inactive, on 10/24/2009, -0/+1Yeah, like "Slime".
- its420somewhere, on 10/25/2009, -0/+1I don't know why they just don't rock the Long Beach Dub All-Stars name ... that mashup is awesome!
- skaldicpoet9, on 10/24/2009, -1/+2This is quite obviously all about making a buck. There is no real reason to perform again as Sublime except to keep the band's brand awareness. In my opinion it has not worked with any other act that has tried this. The Doors had that guy that looked like Jim (creepy), AC/DC brought in Brian Johnson who sounds like a rat drowning in gasoline while on fire and Pink Floyd was much better in their garage-y days with Syd Barret imho.
The point I am trying to make is a band has a certain composition and sound, if you take one element out of that you cannot, by definition, be the same band. Why is it so hard to come up with a new name that defines your band then dragging the old name through the mud? - leamanc, on 10/24/2009, -1/+1Sorry, this just sucks.
- sketcher67, on 10/24/2009, -2/+2I'm a huge Sublime fan and I too was skeptical when hearing about this but after listening to them play live on KROQ I gotta admit I liked what I heard.
- FurtThePirate, on 10/23/2009, -3/+3Couldn't they just call themselves Abovelime?
- ihavefrowned, on 10/24/2009, -0/+0Sublemon!
- dicklips182, on 10/23/2009, -2/+1hes in cypress hill
- IvenomI, on 10/23/2009, -3/+2Don't talk ***** about Sublime!
***** Salt! - alabamasucks, on 10/24/2009, -4/+2Anyone else want Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl to get together with the guy from Puddle of Mud to bring back Nirvana?
- ihavefrowned, on 10/24/2009, -3/+0Get a room.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/23/2009, -26/+5So am I. Sublime sucked.
