- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Cool, but spoken like a *****.
- ngmcs8203, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The long finger nails are for doing 5 rails of coke at once... or playing the classical guitar.
- meatpopsicle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8"Now play classical gas"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11the heavy part just aint the same unless its electric.
- EntropyGuru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I do play classical guitar, and I'd say that the arrangement was on the upper end of the difficulty scale, though there are certainly other pieces in standard classical guitar repetoire that would be considered more difficult. However, the real skill in classical guitar (and any instrument for that matter) comes not from the physical technique, but rather from getting a beautiful sound and playing with one's soul. His ability on that front wasn't outstanding.
As for the woman's right hand comment -- all classical guitarist (worth listening to) have long nails. It's essential for getting the right tone from the instrument and just part of the buisness. - shunter99, on 10/12/2007, -14/+21Take that all you Guitar Hero fags
- fuzzboxer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6So, those of us that play real guitar AND Guitar Hero make us...what?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah man. Did anyone else expect a picture in picture of Wayne, Garth & Co headbanging to the 'heavy' bit?
- HouD, on 10/12/2007, -12/+15I prefer this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGs5mn-rM5k - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Greetings to a fellow classical guitarist. Wouldn't you agree that his nails were just too long. I am assuming he doesn't come from a classical guitar background.
- daeyeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2why is he being dugg up? am I missing something? I don't understand what playing a video game has to do with anything....
- EntropyGuru, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2His nails did seem a bit long, but I do know this can depend on how one's hand is built. I actually need to keep my nails a bit longer than the typical length simply due to the way my finger tips are shaped. I've also heard some great classical guitarists who have incredibly long nails and sill manage to get a nice sound. But I'd have to agree that guitarist from other backgrounds coming into classical guitar often keep their nails too long, at first at least.
- mykodacon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think that was pretty cool but I can't fully appreciate it because I do not play a guitar or any instrument for that matter. So, on a scale from 1-10, 1 being easiest and 10 being the hardest... how much skill did this performance take? For those of you who can play.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Amazing playing... but how does that dude live with those finger nails? It's not worth it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Is there such a thing as false harmonics?
- musicfreak21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Anyone who understands and utilizes false harmonics in their vocabluary of playing makes me respect that player even more. Great stuff!
- leftfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This guy plays gigs all the time around where I live, I just saw him at lunch on Friday. He is a really cool down to earth guy with massive talent. I suggest you look for him if you are ever in the Oklahoma City area.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Unfortunately, finger nails are a must to get a good tone. However, most guitarists' nails are not as pronounced as his.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@nalt: Mind sharing the sheet music for Libertango? Amazing piece of music that.
- npiv, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5aah yes, I knew it was missing something, just couldnt put my finger on it. Thanks for putting it so elequently you utter moron...
- nick34, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is simply amazing. So technical, and his fingering is DEAD on.
Its a lot to remember too. - jfom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Artificial, not false. When the left hand is fretting the note on which the harmonic is based.
- jfom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If I'm not mistaken, he does come from a classical background but obviously deviates quite a bit from it. I'm also pretty sure he wears acrylic nails. I am currently taking lessons from his brother who is more strictly classical - also a great composer/arranger. I don't think Edgar is as concerned about his right hand technique as many classical players, he is more of an entertainer, and a really good one at that.

There's an old Sufi expression that goes "One who thinks the same way at 50 as they did at 20 has wasted 30 years of their life". - Mexrocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have to admit... I too thought of Wayne's World....
I even hit the air drum that Wayne did :( - Pooley, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6He has a woman's (right) hand!
- jfom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Part of what makes it so impressive is that it's on one guitar.
- Wonderkind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fantastic. Freddy would have approved.
- joshcook83, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@over900
i think atrocious is an overstatement. i think its more fair to say that he's quite good, but not great. - DuraznosTJ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Better version by California Guitar Trio:

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1@josh: You are right. He's good, but you don't have to be a master of guitar to notice that there is something seriously wrong with his right hand technique.
- orientis, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2If I was a fag, I'd wanna be a fag like Freddy Mercury. RIP
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1The transcription is good, but his technique is atrocious. Especially his right hand technique. There is a lot of finger noise and his tones are not clear. As for the skill that this performance needs, I would say 6 out of 10. I just want to get hold of the sheet music of the transcription.
- gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2i have nothing against freddy mercury, but this version lacks the umph the original has (you're retarded if you can't sense that)
- AirRaven, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Beautiful.
Sounds so much better than the original. - nalt777, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0I'm able to play classical gas... as well as many other songs... i just don't have a camera for recording myself... if anyone wants to add to the fund to by a cam for recording myself I'll take any money. Just write to greatguitarplayer@hotmail.com
Now seriously i can play classical gas and many others... actually I'm working on "Libertango" from Astor Piazzolla... i don't have a camera... but i won't ask diggers to buy one for me... that's just too low - schroduggity, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3it does lack rock. you guys are fags like Freddy Mercury.
- gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -44/+7cool, but lacks utter rock
What is Digg?
