- dotuplink, on 10/12/2007, -6/+41Roger Daltrey is the only guy who can sing that song. No one else.
- dooms13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19I agree, Blue Man Group did a sweet job with the music, but there is no way anyone else other then Roger should have sung that song.
- zenpuff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I'm still bitter over the fact my mother got to see The Who, and she still thinks this song is called "Teenage Wasteland"
- BaldyNapper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12you need a voice like gravel to sing that song, she doesn't
- michaelgvh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9"They can make music out of anything" ... ... ...?
You mean like with crazy things like Drums, Violins, Pianos, Electric Guitars, Voices, and specially-designed, purpose-made backpack xylophones?
Granted it's a fantastic show and I have seen them about 4-5 times now, but it's not like Stomp where they make music with junkyard crap. - Squeeky, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12That was AMAZING.
The face melting violin solo at the end gave me goosebumps. - Otto, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I dunno. Tracy Bonham does a pretty good job of it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Teenage wastleland!!!!!!
- Juncti, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've seen the Blue Man Group twice this year. Once in Vegas, and once here in New Orleans a few weeks ago. Definitely check them out if they come to town or if you're in one of the cities that features a Blue Man Group show. They not only do some interesting things musically, but the visual presentation of their show is mind blowing.
- TheKingInYellow, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7really cool until the singing started. i love the who and that's why i turned this off after the first two lines were sung.

This one gave me goosebumps. - kloda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'm a diehard Who fan. Definitely, nobody but Roger Daltrey can sing that song.
That said, Blue Man group did some interesting stuff with this song.
Kinda fun to see how many people it took to do this and then look back on the version by The Who featured on the film, "The Kids Are Alright." Pete Townshend going nuts on guitar, Keith Moon beating the crap out of the drums, John Entwistle ripping through bass chords like they were nothing and Roger Daltrey belting out the lyrics and swinging that microphone like a weapon. Pure freakin' energy.
Daltrey did a nice version with The Chieftains but again, it was Daltrey singing. Accept no substitute! Now if we could get Blue Man Group, Daltrey and Townshend performing Baba O'Riley, that would be incredible. - tyywebb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I always thought they were a support group for men with depression.
- Zreitan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2She doesnt rock hard enough to preform that song..
- tripstreet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3that ***** was awesome until they revealed a chick singer, then I pressed the back button
- Elfman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg for Tracy Bonham.
BMG is great too. Just saw them last month and performed this live. - wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I hate being around large groups of people, can't stand being stuck in a place with loud noises, and as such tend to avoid live performances. However, If I had an opportunity to see Blue Man Group live, I wouldn't hesitate. If you want to see a performance even better than this look up the live video of "i feel loved" with guest singer Venus Hum or the live video of "the current."
Blue Man Group has taken their performances to the level of artwork. It's not just a bunch of guys on stage rockin' out.
(yes I'm probably a blue man group fan boy, but i honestly can't help myself) - djspike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They put on an AMAZING live show. Definitely worth going to see if they come your way.
- the_mole1314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey NitroNeo, you are not totally correct, but in a way you are. :P
The PVC instruments are usually acoustic, but are actually MIDI, so they are playing it, but more like an electric guitar. This is done due to the feeback with how the pipes are mic'd and how close they are to the band (in the stage shows where it's acoustic the band is much farther away.) The piano smasher is the same. The piano would actually go out of tune every few hits, so they placed pads around it to "play". It makes the same sound because it's sampled, and is played normally on the CD, but live it's a little different.
Hope that helps! GO SEE THEM LIVE NOW! - r2builder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"I hate being around large groups of people, can't stand being stuck in a place with loud noises, and as such tend to avoid live performances."
pussy. - colonelpanic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I saw them live in philly 2 weeks ago.. it was pretty cool.
- MondayJBlack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Plays a mean violin though
- checkmate987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0everything here is irrelevant. the who are one of the all time worst bands, right up there with the rolling stones. go listen to real music, nOObs.
- MadNuke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I thought your sarcasm was cute.
- NitroNeo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Ok so everyone appears to believe that they actually played this song live. Why then, when the blue man who was beating on the piano strings, would hit the piano strings three times each time a lower cord would he hit the cords which are associated with higher keys on the piano? Basically the piano was the wrong way for this effect.
The longer strings on a piano play a lower key (longer wave form, lower key). The shorter strings on a piano play a higher key.
My personal belief is they Milli Vanillied this one. If the piano was facing the same direction and rotated 180 degrees then it would be truer.
any one wish to debunk this? - changazm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Is the blue permanent? I've always pondered that.
- hagbard72, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Oh hum.
- JordanRoss1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I’m afraid I just blue myself.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2What a ***** tease...I swear you can hear booing when the lady starts singing.
- LeDave, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1They really can make music out of anything, including guitars, drums, violin, a piano, and vocal chords. Wow.
I only kid. I am a fan of the Blue Men. - LeDave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ah... I should learn to read the comments before I post. I'm not as original as I thought. Sorry michaelgvh
- Indryd, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0hehe!
- Indryd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1HAHA that's what I thought it was called. I was all confused like, "wtf...this is 'Teenage Wasteland!'"

I agree TB doesn't sound very good. - wolferz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3yeh kinda. Blue Man Group is more indie music than main stream so unless you have exposure to non-mainstream music your likely to miss them all together. That said their song "The Current" was in the movie Terminator III with guest singer Gavin Rossdale. Gavin Rossdale was the lead singer of Bush (think "Chemicals Between Us"). They have also released singles with popular singers such as Dave Matthews.
In other words they are borderline mainstream these days but their different approach to music keeps them indie. - wageslaven, on 10/12/2007, -8/+4"Blue Man Group is more indie music"
Blue man group is to music as michael flatley is to dance. Pure, unadulterated consumerism. Drop the pretense, BMG sells pseudo-edgy spectacle as art to red-state soccer moms.
nothing to see here, move along. - sorbix, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6this is like listening to a kidz bop cover of a beatles song.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+3The Who? I love bands!
- jcims, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Not enjoying that performance because Roger Daltry didn't sing it is like not enjoying a modern automobile because Ford didn't build it.
- dillonstars, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2ugh, that was horrible.
