- reanimationlp08, on 05/17/2009, -2/+59i think this would be a better pirate anthem. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AzpByR3MvI
- heytomkat, on 05/17/2009, -6/+62I think the song isn't very good.
- subfusc, on 05/17/2009, -6/+47Too bad the song is horrible.
- junkstore, on 05/17/2009, -3/+43"Don't write songs to make money..." Really?
Here's Montt's current album, available to buy now: https://www.bengans.se/popup/montt_skaizerkite/se. ... There are numerous other links on his webpage to places where you can buy it. I don't see any links to download it for free.
At 139 Swedish kronor ($17/£11+) it's actually more expensive than most records in most record stores. The line "don't write songs to make money" loses credibility when in fact he *is* writing songs for money. He won't mind if you pirate his work though, will he? He's on Hubris Records so who knows...
Call me cynical, but could this guy simply be piggybacking on the popularity of The Pirate Bay? Whilst I agree with the sentiment, he hasn't done himself any favours in my eyes.
Oh and the song sucks too. - SuicideMouse, on 05/17/2009, -3/+25Weird, I did too and... I am The Pirate Bay
- fuzzynyanko, on 05/17/2009, -0/+21Yuck. A sing that involves pirates should be a swashbuckling song, or metal. If it's an anthem, at the least they could have orchestrated it. Not some cheery autotuned pop. Autotune is the one of the reasons why people don't see the value of buying songs instead of pirating.
Nothing says "pirate" less than a song that sounds like it belongs in High School Musical. - ceredron, on 05/17/2009, -1/+20The song is kind of... simple? I love the effort, but... I'm sure from the vast legion of pirate bay supporters, they could have, you know... picked something with a little more substance.
- AlexSelby, on 05/17/2009, -0/+16Q. What's a horny pirate's worst nightmare?
A. A sunken chest with no booty! - timishue, on 05/17/2009, -0/+16steam doesn't count, its easier to download a game off steam then pirate it. Yay for steam.
- dizavin, on 05/17/2009, -2/+16aaaaandd, the song sucks.
I like how the kids on The Pirate Bay always justify their site by saying it's an avenue for great, original content that is meant to be open source or free and most of the homebrew movies and music they feature are just ass-in-mouth terrible.. - Tddupre, on 05/17/2009, -0/+14Welcome to Digg we don't using ***** bbcode
- Kuci06, on 05/17/2009, -3/+17here is the link to torrent it

- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+13I like Steam. Once you've purchased a game on it, you can redownload it as many times as you want. Speaking purely for myself, this cuts down on my piracy as a lot of the piracy I engage in is simply replacing CDs that I've lost and what have you.
Actually, that's an interesting statistic I'd like to see - how much piracy is simply done to replace things that people originally purchased legally. I'm not trying to defend piracy or anything, and even I'll admit I am naughty when it comes to pirating things from time to time, but thinking about it, a lot of the things I pirate really are things I already own legally. - frieddonuts, on 05/17/2009, -0/+12I agree that he's trying to pander to pirates with a half-assed song he put together over a couple of hours.
But I think in that line he is saying that the main motivation behind making music is for "people to sing along." Doesn't mean that he doesn't want to make money.
Overall I find the song to be repetitive and not really that catchy. - VictoriaMaria, on 05/17/2009, -11/+22I love the song, and have been embracing the concept for a while now. As a writer, Coelho putting his books online was the final shove to get me on the piracy bandwagon. Now I can't imagine not wanting others to read my work, whether they have cash or not.
Art is beautiful, lovely, and should be free. At the very least, there should be a 'free' option. Artists need to live, but surely an artist of all people should know what art is- a beauty that should not be degraded by a price-tag [as if true art can be given a value?], should be allowed to freely flow from mind to mind.
I write so that people can read. I write so that others can love my characters and my prose. Cash? I can get another job if needed :) If a handful of people love my work enough to pirate it instead of waiting, then I'll happily allow and encourage this. If they wish to buy it, lovely, if not- here you go.
As a side-note, since it seems relevant, I'm starting a group that dedicated itself to artists who believe this and want to gather, work together, and promote the message. http://community.livejournal.com/privateersofart/ For those interested. - moxley, on 05/17/2009, -0/+10Where's the "YAR!"
- inactive, on 05/17/2009, -0/+10I'm not buying Sealand, I'll just wait for a torrent to pop up.
- ryryindo, on 05/17/2009, -0/+10wrong.

- MidnightTide, on 05/17/2009, -1/+10bloody hell, buy a freaking island already, I want to see the RIAA invade....lol
- kdmkdmkdm, on 05/17/2009, -0/+8DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
- eleete, on 05/17/2009, -1/+8Agreed, IP and copyright have become a welfare system to support the ubber wealthy. Some still feel that sense of, 'I've created something that I know others will enjoy and find useful' without the need of 'now I am entitled to profit'. The public domain is the best resource to promote. Each one that profits from a monopoly would be exponentially rewarded with a thriving public domain.
- ZakMcRofl, on 05/17/2009, -0/+6Someone should put his latest album on TBP and see how he reacts ;-)
http://rs462.rapidshare.com/files/219517644/Montt_ ... - Frostek, on 05/17/2009, -2/+8Some days I think I'm actually *on* torrentfreak, since virtually anything on there gets posted here, regardless of whether it's pertinent or not.
- Camdon, on 05/18/2009, -0/+6I've never been to Sweden. I do know they are in a different time zone then I am. I listened to the entire song and I can't help but wonder if that time zone is 1987.
- t0x2c, on 05/17/2009, -1/+7We need a Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys type of thing. Like them or not, it's what's appropriate.
- VictoriaMaria, on 05/17/2009, -3/+8I have nothing against getting paid for good work. That makes sense. But I believe paying should be optional. It's art, for goodness' sakes. The point is aesthetic beauty that can't actually be measured by, say, a price-tag. It's almost shameful to presume art has a constricted worth.
The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite novels. It's almost perfect Romantic French literature. And yet I can read it free online. Which is quite helpful when I don't have the book with me, or need the unabridged version which can't ever seem to be found in stores.
Not to mention, any artist who is it in for the money missed the "poor starving artist" memo...
[ http://digg.com/arts_culture/PRIVATEERs_An_Art_Rev ... - the submission for all this, so it doesn't take away from the awesome anthem. *goes to download it*] - t0x2c, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3AzpByR3MvI
- computershack, on 05/17/2009, -14/+19Anyone else sick and tired of reading torrentfreak *****?
- JustinHopewell, on 05/18/2009, -0/+5Have to agree with staticfire. I'd say 80-90 percent of what I've submitted would be of interest to diggers, but whatever algorithm is setup to display front page stories isn't working in my favor. It makes it seem kind of pointless to submit anything unless you're a power user.
- Travelsonic, on 05/17/2009, -0/+5"To claim that the song is horrible requires one to provide a sample of what a better sounding song"
Which is COMPLETELY subjective ANYWAYS.
.. you could just let people have their opinions either way? - staticfire, on 05/18/2009, -0/+5It would be nice if everyone had an equal chance of getting articles to the front page.
That or make submitting anonymous.
Until then I will continue to bitch about the quality of the content on the front page. - inactive, on 05/17/2009, -1/+6Terrible!
- netneutrality, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside when people get it wrong.
- TheScotsman1980, on 05/17/2009, -2/+6Aye?... Naw
- Onji, on 05/17/2009, -4/+8Ya know what? ***** it. I like the song.
- cheeseron, on 05/17/2009, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmyoQS0KWRs this is better
- Travelsonic, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3No, THIS should be the song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLsJyfN0ICU
... wait, it already has been associated with TPB/piracy... *****. - vectoor, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4It might not win a grammy or anything any time soon, but I doubt anyone would listen to for the great melody. The text is good and so is the message.
And it really isn't THAT bad :P - Travelsonic, on 05/17/2009, -1/+4as you wish
*buries Galt*
Seriously, WTF is your problem? - U83RMENSCH, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3i know that.. but i decided to use it any
- JustinHopewell, on 05/18/2009, -0/+3I don't think you're happy enough! That's right! I'll teach you to be happy! I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs!
- Lazydriver, on 05/17/2009, -0/+3THIS should be the song. Well, without the Somalian, and Pirate Bay instead.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PEfH-6y0Sc&fea ... - Disease, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2I think a TPB anthem should sound more like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoh67mT1K4E&fmt ... - AlexSelby, on 05/17/2009, -0/+2There is already a good pre-existing theme song
