- slugicide, on 10/12/2007, -1/+42Oh, shucks. If only there were some other way to get digital copies of Beatles songs...
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Yeah. We know.
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20"...no ticket to ride for Apple, as the yellow submarine of the Beatles' catalog goes down a long and winding road into a sky without diamonds 'because' Mean Mr. Mustard doesn't want to hold Apple's hand and drive their car into the strawberry fields..."
Shut the ***** up. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15No, it isn't. Its probably less legal than pirate bay in fact because you're paying for it. People need to stop fooling themselves about AllofMP3. As a general rule, if it seems too good to be true, its too good to be true. You're better off BTing music than putting money into the pockets of dodgy Russians IMHO.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Or just rip their Beatles CDs.
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Holy crap lets all keep rehashing the information in those two articles.
I am pretty sure we have all read them by now. - bouche, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm still not sure why most would need the Beatles on iTunes so bad to feel disappointed. don't we all own LP's and CD's of all of the Beatles?
Also, if you're really hard up, there are plenty of ways to get Beatles into iTunes and eventually to your iPod. Remember the days of borrowing cd's? I think you can still do that. Long live the Beatles. The Greatest band EVER! - Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Because everyone the RIAA sues is a thieving criminal bastard
/sarcasm - NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5If not through copyright infringement, then just open up your CD holder and rip it. Seriously, who DOESN'T already have this music that wants it?
- hagridore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Who cares? Anyone interested in The Beatles has at least one of their albums already. And is there even a reason to bother with expanding the fan-base at this point?
- machine82, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Buy the CD import it and shut the hell up about this!
- yhvdyt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2why would anyone pay to download the existing beatles catalog - they can buy the mp3 quality cds that have been out for 20 years - the anthology cds (and unsurpassed masters) demonstrated that there's nothing unreleased worth bothering with - and only the physical product fetishists would be interested in that stuff.
- prgmctan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Hopefully for them, that will drive a percentage of people who already own the music on CD to go out and buy it again."
How does this make sense?
Even if you already have the cd you can just import it into iTunes. - Dayyve, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Who? Fergie? R.I.P. music ever since The Beatles is more like it...
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The beatles just don't want to be popular with the younger generation.
- Gendu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This came up in a class I took in high school where we got to get in some broadcast time on a radio station (our schools, call letters KGHP, you could pick it up in a few cities). Basically one of the students asked why we didn't have any Beatles music to play. The teacher basically said that it was due to the contract the Beatles made with their label, apparently how it was worded it prevented the label from making any mixes that would put the Beatles on the same disk as others.
Besides, the Beatles are a cash cow, and they want to hold onto their trump card as long as possible - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wise words.
- missingdigits, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I fail to see how bringing the Beatles to iTunes or any other digital store really matters. Doesn't anyone insterested in stagnating in the past alredy own every single Beatles cd? Digital music, at this point, is for the young. If you don't already own every Beatles cd and want to hear some, just dial in your ancient radios to any "oldies" station and listen again to "Let it Be" for the millionth time.
- samadam, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Maybe because the Beatles made the best music ever?
- rarson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3If people can't download Beatles songs legally, then obviously they're going to download illegal copies. Doesn't make sense to me for them to hold out. DRM or not, people are a lot less likely to pay for downloads when they can't.
- skunkworker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This story is innacurate. They never said that its not coming , they only said not yet.
- chroko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ Dayyve:
Oh realllly? A tiny percentage of good modern music is popularized. To be "popular" is to conform to the lowest common denominator (ie: terrible). Try Pandora for an afternoon - then tell me with a straight face you couldn't discover some new music you absolutely love and have never heard of:
http://www.pandora.com/ - rarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the best thing The Beatles did was inspire better music.
I'm not a fan of The Beatles. They were pretty talented, and they made some good songs, but I just don't like them that much. There are plenty of bands that have come out since then that are better. I think most people get caught up in The Beatles because it's "The Beatles."
I hope I'm not downplaying them too much, since I think they were hugely integral in changing the shape of music to come, but there's just tons of artists I would much rather listen to than The Beatles. It doesn't help that their songs have been whored out on ad campaigns and movies a lot. - MScrip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1> "Or just rip their Beatles CDs."
Or rip someone else's CDs. - eliotmat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All the beatles garbage can be found DRM-less on the internet anyways FOR FREE.
- OGTL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anybody who can seriously listen to AAC 128 kbps doesn't have the right to enjoy music in the first place.
- ahknight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What does bad porn have to do with this?
- ahknight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"don't we all own LP's and CD's of all of the Beatles?"
No. - MadMan459, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Skunkworker, I was going to point this out. I don't know why you got dugg down, you are 100% right.
It's not just Apple... all of the (legal) online music resellers "Still Can't Buy Beatles' Love" - BECAUSE IT'S NOT AVAILABLE YET.
But no, it's freakin' Wired, so in their typical loserly fashion, they go with the misleading anti-Apple headline and try to get some hits to their crappy website. - crossers, on 07/21/2008, -0/+0I hope soon this problem will be solved.

- dtkmike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0half of them are dead, i dont think popularity really matters to them
- chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Guarentee the Beatles will show up when EMI's non-drm music appears on iTunes in May. It seems like the perfect way to promote the higher quality and non-drm songs.
- dext3r, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6"Apple Still Can't Buy Beatles' Love"
...and I still don't care. Are there really a ton of people seriously and eagerly anticipating having to buy music they've most likely already bought? - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Agreed, that was horrendous.
- mabhatter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'd guess they're waiting for a good marketing time to release the tracks. There's not much going on in the iPod world with all the iPhone hype. I'd expect to see a "yellow submarine" iPod with a Beatles music package similar to the U2 package. With iPhone in June, and no iPod announcements until well after that, it may be a while.
- missingdigits, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3R.I.P. Beatles. It's the 21st Century.
How about trying some NEW music people? - adc89, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4Been there done that... regret it.
@samadam
That is highly subjective. - Rochmndx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2This is ridiculous! EMI could be making a frickload selling The Beatles on iTunes. (their like the #1 listened to group on Last.FM).
I buy CDs and Vinyl, and would never, ever, ever buy compressed, DRMed music, yet I want the Beatles on iTunes - mostly so I can get a taste of all their work. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Yeah, I'm sure at this point The Beatles will never sell an album again, because, like, everyone's got them! Right?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0When it doesn't, will you be man enough to admit you were wrong? If not, what good is your guarantee?
- rickpdx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0There is a god! Am I the only one who hates the Beatles? Their music sucks, always has, always will.
- nerd05, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5http://allofmp3.com
Its legality is somewhat under question, but it's certainly more legal than http://thepiratebay.org - AshsToAshs, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1RIAA is suing allofmp3 for 1.65 trillion dollars in damages, so i doubt its ok to get music from them.
-Ash- - psbpv3o, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2What the ***** *****?
- Maxximus, on 10/12/2007, -43/+1The long and winding road to DRM-free downloads from a major record label led this week to the door of The Beatles' label, EMI.
To the disappointment of many, the deal between Apple and EMI announced yesterday won't include the long-awaited release of the Fab Four's catalog on the iTunes Music Store.
