- MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -6/+30Unfortunately, no I'm not surprised, but I am frustrated. It's so frustrating to see musicians with talent and recognition, things that are so hard to achieve, repeatedly screw it up.
I'm not putting her anywhere close to the level of these musicians, but think of what the Beatles achieved and then allowed drugs to destroy? The only reason people blame Yoko is that John was so paranoid at the time he wouldn't go anywhere without her - including the recording studio. I'll bet that was helpful for creativity :(
Think of what Brian Wilson could have done if he wouldn't have used drugs and exacerbate his mental illness? It's just a shame. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, etc., etc., etc. Such a lame way to go out...- jmignea2, on 06/23/2008, -2/+11It's kind of a double-edged sword. The Beatles' best material really started with Revolver, exactly around the time they started doing drugs more heavily. While drug use influenced their music for the better it was also obviously destructive in their personal lives.
- spiritditch, on 06/23/2008, -1/+12Revolver = LSD
Destructive = cocaine - MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -5/+1"Why Don't We Do It in the Road" vs. "I Should Have Known Better"

I'd take the clean Beatles over the drugged out Beatles any day... - GrouchoMarx42, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5Personally, I'd take the drugged-out Beatles....
"Eleanor Rigby" vs. "I'm A Loser"
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" vs. "She Loves You"
Drugs are responsible for almost all the great Rock tunes. Drugs gave us The Rolling Stones. The Beatles. Jimi Hendrix. Janis Joplin. Bob Dylan. Eric Clapton. Johnny Cash. David Bowie... the list goes on.
But still, crack is whack. - dullnation, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5Since when was ripping off Motown creative?
- MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3I don't think drugs "gave" us those awesome bands, I think they could deal and push through it better than others. Think of what Jimi could have done without drugs...at the very least he would have lived another few years to put out more music.
- kalii, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Jimi didn't actually die from a drug overdose. He mixed alcohol w/some sleeping pills that were prescribed for him, thus causing him to pass out, where he died from choking on his own vomit.
Alot of people from that time period where experimenting with drugs, jimi was no different but he wasn't strung out on them like people believe.
- spiritditch, on 06/23/2008, -1/+12Revolver = LSD
- Albear89, on 06/23/2008, -3/+6I would suggest you listen to Bill Hicks on drug use and music. I'm not promoting drug use as a means to creativity, but your statement is a bit Nancy Reagan.
- MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -2/+11When I talk about "drugs", I'm not talking about pot or any harmless drugs. But advocating against CRACK use is "a little bit Nancy Reagan"? Come on.
- jerichobp, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5Did you just insinuate that Amy Winehouse has talent?

- cubedw00t, on 06/23/2008, -29/+15her voice is in part so good because of the substance abuse (a la janis joplin)
- pingudownunder, on 06/23/2008, -35/+103An amazing voice? Really? Sorry, don't agree.

The missing teeth are just a bonus. A bonus that will build more as time goes on. - 2oonhed, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1That clapped out tranny look is all the rage in France.
- sg7791, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3I'll bet you think she's one of those artists with a mechanical voice, because she's only known through radio airplay. I like her voice, and I guess her music is pretty good, but in this case the voice is the important part.
- djholybolt, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2she sucks!
- mcmlxxii, on 06/23/2008, -4/+5Whether you approve or disapprove of her lifestyle, or whether or not you like her music, her talent is undeniable.
- djholybolt, on 06/23/2008, -1/+12She can hit a crack pipe in 3.5 seconds.
That's talent. - itsthebrod, on 06/23/2008, -1/+5What talent? I've heard her sing exactly one song (that ***** ironic rehab one) and it was okay. She's a mediocre singer, so where is this undeniable talent you speak of?
- Alkain, on 06/23/2008, -2/+1@ itsthebrod
You said it yourself, you've only heard one song from her and you ask for proof. Mainstream music is rarely the best music that the artist produces. Understanding someone's music takes more than just one song because none of us are capable of forming a full opinion without hearing at least a portion of an artist's catalog. Basing someone's talent on one song, their most played one at that, is a flawed process.
That being said, I'm not terribly big on Amy Winehouse. Good drama, however.
- djholybolt, on 06/23/2008, -1/+12She can hit a crack pipe in 3.5 seconds.
- thatsmyaibo, on 06/23/2008, -5/+4She sounds and looks like a man...
- djholybolt, on 06/23/2008, -3/+5she even has a penis to match!
- htan, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3her vocal chords sound as dry as if they'd be soaked in alcohol since she was born, which is probably what happened
- cryptomystic, on 06/23/2008, -13/+33I second that, her voice is not that amazing and just looking at her makes me want to hurl.

- toonworld, on 06/23/2008, -15/+15Ok she had a couple of catchy tunes, but amazing voice?
Do you remember reading anything good about her in the papers? I only saw articles saying she was still abusing and being a dumbass. - Markpdotcom, on 06/23/2008, -6/+22I don't know why you're all getting dugg down. She's an average singer at best, the rest is all studio production work!
- tubbyanimations, on 06/23/2008, -2/+1Not just any production work, Mark Ronson's production work ;)
- Myonosken, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Whut? No. He only did Valerie and the TRACK Back to Black.
- tubbyanimations, on 06/23/2008, -2/+1Not just any production work, Mark Ronson's production work ;)
- meannate, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2I think the drugs were most likely integral to her "performance."
- DeviateSeptum, on 06/23/2008, -3/+4She has a decent voice but her stardom seems to be because the music industry likes to put some basket case on a pedestal every few years. For every Amy Winehouse there are 100 singers with just as good a voice or better. They just don't have the X-factor to sell records. Amy has something that causes people to love or hate her instantly and executives know they can package and sell that.
- Nollykin, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Exactly. Well said.
- Nollykin, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Have you SEEN her live concerts? She's carried along by the backing vocalists and band as she stumbles on stage looking less interested in singing and more interested in getting offstage to party. Seriously, on her Live DVD she looks like she doesn't want to be there, and she sings as such. Her song's are all fairly samey- They're late lounge-jazz inspired yes, they've got some edge, yes- but if you really want something amazing, check out the musicians she's obviously inspired by- such as the late Nina Simone.

- MelroseMan, on 06/23/2008, -9/+24So you commented because you want attention?
- ZeRux, on 06/23/2008, -15/+9When you die, that won't be worthy of my attention either.
- SmellyFingers, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2I doubt his death will be on Digg or any other media source...do you get his point now or do you still need more clarification?
- Alegoo92, on 06/23/2008, -9/+4Try to see it in perspective:
Your attention and concern is in fact worthless to almost everybody but yourself.
So shut up! :D - LeonidasStokely, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3My thoughts exactly. I have no idea how this tabloid gossip article even made it onto Digg. Who really cares?
- ButchersBoy, on 06/23/2008, -12/+48Then why did you read and comment upon this thread?
- noots, on 06/23/2008, -21/+438No sympathy from me. She's had a ***** million and one chances to turn straight.
- SeaweedWater, on 06/23/2008, -18/+7Pretty harsh..
- noots, on 06/23/2008, -1/+19not really, i'd support anyone with an addiction trying to get clean for the first time, and maybe a second depending on the circumstances.
But she has had access to the best care money can buy, coupled with the amount of support she receives, she's a complete disgrace.- popfrogs, on 06/23/2008, -2/+7Right, but she hasn't had access to a dentist, a good rhinoplasty man, or a brain.
- DephexTwin, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2Don't forget she is rich and popular. So even if she alienates some people, there are still plenty of people who want to hang out with her, and she has enough money that she won't hit financial rock bottom because of her drug use. It all allows a person to live in denial a lot longer. The only thing that can hit rock bottom is her physical state.
- SeaweedWater, on 06/23/2008, -0/+8I don't know, I've been to rehab and all that..It's hard to stay clean and she's still a human at the end of the day..a poor, flawed human. All this negativity and 'she deserves it' talk doesnt help at all, it just makes me sad that people hate her just for being way human.
I think there is more honesty in her doing drugs than all these Jim Carreys, Jay Lenos, and Cable News channels put together..
My very last thought when I hear an addict has hit rock bottom again is 'they deserve it' or 'I hope she dies'..It's just cruel and you shouldn't make these horrible blanket statements unless you've been there..
- toonworld, on 06/23/2008, -0/+7Harsh but true.
Although an addiction to a substance can be sometimes impossible to beat, you have to figure that there was a first time for everything. This means that she made her own decision to get into that crap when she WAS NOT addicted to it.
On top of that, she didn't really want to help herself... no sympathy from me either. - Nollykin, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Indeed- Harsh but true. If you've ever known anyone who's fallen to addiction, you'll know the truth in that.
- noots, on 06/23/2008, -1/+19not really, i'd support anyone with an addiction trying to get clean for the first time, and maybe a second depending on the circumstances.
- locitman, on 06/23/2008, -5/+20woot i picked her to die before brittany spears in the office pool!
- AnarkeIncarnate, on 06/23/2008, -2/+12Dude, don't count your complete and utter failures before they die.
- WarZpriTe, on 06/23/2008, -3/+4Seriously, this train-wreck has outlived her 15 minutes of fame, and then some, its time for her to drop from the limelight once and for all.
Im not even sure why she is getting all of the attention she is, Shes a mediocre artist at best, with the shortest career Ive ever seen before the dropped it in the crapper with drug abuse.- TheSkinsFactory, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2real nice.
- TheSkinsFactory, on 06/23/2008, -4/+7You have apparently never been addicted to cocaine. If you had been, you'd understand how difficult it is, especially when it's around you as much as it is around her. It's so easy to sit back and pass judgment, but until you've dealt with it, you don't know.
- SeaweedWater, on 06/23/2008, -3/+3I know. These media reactions are gonna be worse for her than the cocaine. I feel so bad for her.
- ninepointfive, on 06/23/2008, -2/+4I think you've hit it on the head. So many cold people. Is she really THAT bad? Why do so many want her dead?
- foshizol, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5It's difficult to feel sorry for anyone that has everything and just pisses it all away. And let's be totally honest if you ever have seen an interview of her she makes no apology about taking drugs and says it's not a problem.
Addiction is just another way of nature weeding out the weak. We need to let natural selection take it's course. Let's just hope she doesn't breed before she dies. - WarZpriTe, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Havnt said I want her dead, I dont, I just think this has gone on more than long enough. Let her fade out from the media spotlight, it isnt helping her any, probably the opposite.
I dont buy the "Its the drugs fault" excuse, she chose to take the path shes on, and it doesnt appear her family/husband is doing enough to stop the downward spiral.

Believe me I have no problem with it, its just the *****'s I work with :-}
When I edited the comment to change the word "an" to "and" it changed the word "*****" to **** and updated the comment with that left in. A feature, or a bug ?- DephexTwin, on 06/23/2008, -0/+5Bug. We un-oppressed Diggers should be able to enjoy the profanity in all its glory.
- EricAnderton, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3I think its a new meme.
"*****" is, in and of itself, a new swear word aside from the usual suspects. Ironically, it brings profanity to new heights: the reader is more or less *required* to substitute the most offensive, vulgar and god-awful thing they can think of in its place. The result is more provocative than just picking a single word.- artfiend77, on 06/23/2008, -1/+2You ***** ****

- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/23/2008, -16/+17Addiction is not a weakness, it is a disease. The genetic markers for addiction to drugs or alcohol have been identified. A person who is a drug addict is suffering from a mental and metabolic illness, and thus are not bad people, just broken.
That said, this woman has had a lot of chances to get her ***** together, and she hasn't, so really she makes her own destiny.- eyepennies, on 06/23/2008, -2/+12Great post. I could give two ***** about this chick, but I also don't appreciate all these ignorant asshats pretending they know anything about addiction and all the studies that have been done regarding it. "Another addict pays for her weakness" is pretty much the sickest, most ignorant, faux-bootstrap right-wing ***** kind of response you can imagine.
- Pittance, on 06/23/2008, -9/+4Really? Haven't heard a thing about those studies. Sounds like a study founded by Marlboro or some such. And I'm sure AA really likes it being classified as such. Either way, the people can go screw themselves. They can figure out they get addicted easily and combat it and stay away from drugs. Its not like people feel sorry for long-term diabetics when they die after binging on Ben&Jerry's. That, and she smokes CRACK. Who the hell does that when someone that rich could afford anything they wanted. She's just another rich idiot slowly killing herself and screwing her life away.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/23/2008, -3/+9"Haven't heard a thing about those studies."
That's because you are self-centred and ignorant. When or if you emotionally mature, you may find the time to learn about such things, and do a bit of reading. Alcoholism has been recognised as a legitimate disease by the world health authority since 1956. I rather take my advice from medical professionals than from arrogant internet pussbags.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/23/2008, -3/+9"Haven't heard a thing about those studies."
- jzuska, on 06/23/2008, -8/+6I realize that it's an addicition, and it's genetic etc. What genetic markers make you do it the first time? Yeah... .thought so.
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/23/2008, -3/+11The genetic markers only set up a *predisposition*. There have to be environmental or psychological factors that key in to make a person pick up the first cigarette, etc. Do you remember your first drink? Probably, because it most likely wasn't very long ago. What made you do it?
You may have a predisposition to mental illness, in fact, it is very likely that you do carry that gene. That doesn't mean you are going to definitely have a psychotic episode. What causes these things, medical science does not yet understand. That's why there's no cure for drug addiction.
No one is saying people with addictions are not troubled: they are very damaged human beings. In most cases they have myriad character defects and flaws. But these don't exist in a vacuum: they come from somewhere. Often it is childhood experience, bad parenting, or such like, but not always.- Dwebtron, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2So you're saying that addiction is in a person's genes. Ok. So what you're telling me is that when mankind evolved into what we are today (God / whatever it was that brought us here) gave us a predisposition to things that didn't yet exist? I don't think big tobacco was around to sell to inaudible cavemen, do you? I wonder if we're predisposed to be addicted to things that still have yet to be invented. I wonder if i've been addicted to Duke Nukem Forever already because of my genes?
- Wartyboskfapped, on 06/23/2008, -3/+11The genetic markers only set up a *predisposition*. There have to be environmental or psychological factors that key in to make a person pick up the first cigarette, etc. Do you remember your first drink? - harmonik, on 06/23/2008, -5/+15WEAKNESS?!
Do you not love being happy? Love falling in love? Love adrenaline? These are all chemicals which you live every day for.
Every human is susceptible to addiction, so long as you have dopamine.
Get off your ***** pedestal and realize that there are such things as mature and productive drug addicts. I'd really like to see where we both are in 10 years from now.
Idiots kill themselves off with drugs. Smarter people know their limits. Crawl out of your shell once in a while.- wacomwacoff, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I believe people should be free to do whatever the heck they want with their own bodies. You like crack? OK, sure, smoke it up, dude.
But someone who's been told repeatedly that they're headed for an early death from drugs, has every opportunity to kick the habit, and ends up in this kind of state... that's either weakness or suicide.
- wacomwacoff, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I believe people should be free to do whatever the heck they want with their own bodies. You like crack? OK, sure, smoke it up, dude.
- Phatt138, on 06/23/2008, -3/+1Addiction may be a "disease" in some very loose sense of the word, but personal responsibility has a big part to play. If depression, alcoholism, and nymphomania are genetic, we've currently got no 'cure' for them. I guess depressed people need to get out more, alcoholics need another hobby, and nymphomaniacs need to keep their legs shut until we can find some way to stop people from having ANY VARIATION IN PERSONALITY.

"I went to see Amy whinehouse last night at the Nia in Birmingham.
I was so schocked by her perfomance, she didnt come on stage til nearly 10pm. She was obviously off her face on booze or drugs as she kept dropping the microphone, slurring the words to her songs and she nearly fell over her guitar. people were booing her lots, and the majority of the crowd walked out half way through. All she could do was talk about her husband, she even cried halfway through one of her songs"

- MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -19/+9What's wrong with being a selfish, egocentric piece of *****? Only my opinion matters anyway.
- snds, on 06/23/2008, -16/+10@freepizza48
As honorable as your empathy sounds...she did this to herself. I'll never wish someone to die, but if she keeps on keeping on the way she has, I will definitely have no remorse for her and her friends and family who probably should have stepped in for an intervention a LOOOOONG time ago.- eyepennies, on 06/23/2008, -0/+8You need not feel any remorse, as you had nothing to do with it. But compassion, well, that is up to you, dude.
- Enfenestrate, on 06/23/2008, -23/+17Whatever. I've got July 17th in an Amy Winehouse death pool, so this is fantastic news. I don't normally wish for people to die, but I stand to make $40 if she does.
- Myonosken, on 06/23/2008, -1/+11"this is fantastic news"
You need to die by July 17th too.- Enfenestrate, on 06/23/2008, -6/+1Of course it's fantastic news. I mean, who doesn't want to make $40? That's the better part of a tank of gas these days, and gas prices are no laughing matter right now.
- Albear89, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2That's pretty ***** up. I feel sorry for you. I hope you remeber how unfeeling you were when your daughter is ***** three dudes at once on film for her next shot. Karma is a bitch. Watch your actions
- Myonosken, on 06/23/2008, -1/+11"this is fantastic news"
- TheNakedChef, on 06/23/2008, -8/+31The reaction here isn't surprising, large population of digg is single males with an axe to grind because they never kissed a girl. Compassion would be one of the last things they understood. If you have never loved, never been loved and never lost, It's hard to appreciate the value of life. Even if it's one that went to waste.
But then, more people will remember her than an average bitter and anonymous digg user.- WhatInThe42o, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5Oh, ***** you. I want her to die because she's committing suicide, and I'm sick and tired of how poorly she is doing it. I'm plenty compassionate about people who are suffering for things which are not their fault, but when someone can't stop sucking on the glass ***** long enough to do their job, ***** them. This species doesn't need them, the world doesn't need them, nobody needs them. So, ***** Amy Winehouse and her meaningless 'tragedy,' and ***** you, you whiney emo bitch, for thinking you understand everyone else's motivations for not crying over that stupid bitch, and her inept attempts to kill herself.
- freepizza48, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2Addiction is a disease. It's not something you can just turn off easily.
- Albear89, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I hope you end up on crack. walk a day in her shoes *****. Then talk tough about how it's her fault. Till then keep jacking off to internet porn and playing WOW you *****.
- WhatInThe42o, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Albear89, not being a stupid ass *****, I will not 'end up on crack,' because I don't smoke crack. It is 100% her fault; if you smoke crack, you get hooked on crack. Then you die, a joke and laughingstock. ***** her, and ***** you.
And WoW is awesome. - freepizza48, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1What is your problem man. Once you understand all, you will forgive all.
- WhatInThe42o, on 06/23/2008, -2/+5Oh, ***** you. I want her to die because she's committing suicide, and I'm sick and tired of how poorly she is doing it. - CoMpUtErITGuY, on 06/23/2008, -13/+3I want you to die...
- rryanhayes, on 06/23/2008, -4/+22The problem here is that no one understands what its like to deal first hand with a loved one in your life who is dealing with addiction. Its easy to judge something from the outside, when you are completely uneducated on how addiction can rule a persons life entirely. People who are addicted made the bad choice initially to get involved with whatever it is they are addicted to, but after that, they have no control over it at all. It owns them, and they cant be held accountable for the symptoms of their disease. They need to be helped at all costs.
- iJessicaRabbit, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3YES thank you. Dugg.
- WhatInThe42o, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3Spoken like someone who has never actually fought an addiction, someone who's never been homeless, and made the difference in their own life to stand up and become something. You sound like you are puking out soundbites from an AA meeting. Or, just someone who revels in the freedom that the lie 'powerless over their addiction' gives people who don't want to make a change.
- rryanhayes, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2for your information, i was an addict, clean for 4 years. I was kicked out of my home, lost all my friends, and the only person in my life willing to put in the time and love to help me get out of the mess of addiction was my father. Dont talk to me about addiction, you ignorant piece of *****. You obviously have no idea what youre talking about.
- TecK415, on 06/23/2008, -2/+19I am guessing most people on here have no idea what addiction is like...
- mrblue182, on 06/23/2008, -3/+7I don't wish her to die, I just don't care if she does.
- Spottswood, on 06/23/2008, -8/+3Kthx gandhi, go eat a dick now
- freepizza48, on 06/23/2008, -1/+3You obviously outsmarted me.
- KevinRWright, on 06/23/2008, -2/+3This is Digg. I once saw a dude wish death upon another guy for submitting an article ahead of him.
These people are losers and hypocrites. Heath Ledger dies of an overdoes and they cry about it Amy Winehouse, on the other hand, is suffering through addiction, but they wish death upon her. Why? Because she isn't in the new batman movie, is she?! - bmdubya, on 06/23/2008, -2/+2I don't want her to die. That is just bad. But I hate it when people get addicted to a drug that can kill you, and they ask you to have sympathy. Why? They did it to themselves. It isn't that hard to say no to a drug. And if you have started, go to rehab if it is a problem. But if you know you have a problem and don't do anything about it, then I don't understand why people should feel sorry for her. Yes, drug addiction is bad. But no one is forcing someone to do drugs. It is their own choice. People in our society are turning into a bunch of pussies, not taking responsibility for their actions. They always look for other people to blame on stuff. If you ***** up, it is your fault, not someone else.
- L4WL3RS34L, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1If Hitler were still alive, would you not wish that he'd die?
- freepizza48, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1I wish that he would see the error of his ways. I wouldn't stop anyone from killing him, but I would take no joy in it.

- jmghollywood, on 06/23/2008, -22/+17Guess she should have went to rehab... But she said no, no, no.
- MatthewDuke, on 06/23/2008, -2/+12Don't do that again.
- MelroseMan, on 06/23/2008, -12/+6I like her music. I'd like her to keep making music but what she does on her time is not a concern. That being so I want to take this time to persuade people.. please... stop giving a *****. She's not the first singer to use drugs. If you don't like her music who cares. In reality good music is entirely personal opinion.
Same with George Carlin. Move the ***** on people. What is this jump on celebrity dicks day?
Wow, I just noticed when you sign out curse words are censored... lame - netneutrality, on 06/23/2008, -5/+18Who cares? Besides which the BBC article basically said she's fine -- none of this "in a wheelchair within a month" rubbish: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7468655.s ...
- zomglolcats, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4Yeah I kind of questioned the legitimacy of the news source for this article.

- chicaneuk, on 06/23/2008, -2/+13Sorry that she couldn't be saved sooner. But if ever a good example of how to ruin yourself through drug abuse was needed, she is a prime example. It's staggering to see just how stunning she was before she started on the drugs, and just how much of a wreck she is now.
I don't think anyone 'deserves' a terminal illness like that, but you have to take responsibility for your own actions. I don't know how she thought it'd be ok to abuse herself that much and not suffer any repercussions.- luckyguy2000, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3yeah, she was strong, beautiful and a wonderful singer... just 2 years ago. she threw everything she is and was into a dumpster. its a sad story.
hope amy gets the corner once again. maybe she should stop going on stage and live a normal life. it doesnt seem like she can lift the weigth of being famous.
- luckyguy2000, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3yeah, she was strong, beautiful and a wonderful singer... just 2 years ago. she threw everything she is and was into a dumpster. its a sad story.
- wing05, on 06/23/2008, -5/+10I suppose if dad really cared about her, he might try to do the same thing as Britney's dad did rather than ignoring the problem.

- uselessexpert, on 06/23/2008, -11/+7That should not be a shocker.
Every crackhead has to eventually die or go into rehab.
Unfortunately for her I think is going to be the latter.- getbusylivin, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2You mean unfortunately for *us* it will be the latter? Or, unfortunately for her it will be the former? Regardless I hope she dies. She's a horrible role model and her music is *****. She wouldn't even be a blip on the radar if she had a different last name.
- gigigugit, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1She won't be going to rehab... how quickly you forget!
- ButchersBoy, on 06/23/2008, -17/+75Wow, people on here are pretty harsh. Yes, it's her own doing, but, "Good riddance", "Not sad. F*** her", "Good for her". Perhaps you should look in the mirror at your own callousness.
- junkwheel, on 06/23/2008, -6/+18The keyboard tappings of people who have never had a drug addiction, and probably not ever personally known somebody with one, should be taken with a pinch of salt.
In fact, you would get much more benefit from just mainlining the salt on it's own.- Rodalli, on 06/23/2008, -8/+5Read: I know stuff about drugs...how cool am I??!?

- 2h3px, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I am currently pursuing one; thank you. Perhaps you should revise your usage of semicolons.

- mct17, on 06/23/2008, -3/+0I agree with you, its just so sad that they're bashing against a star just because she is going through tough times. It's not easy being a celebrity.

- zomglolcats, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Exactly. I kind of smelled BS just by taking a look at the source for this "news". I guess time will tell if there is a bit of truth.

Real professional right there. - FATALOOOOS, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1I was going to say something like that, it was difficult to read due to the awful misspellings and atrocious grammar for a professional news website.
- Millsee, on 06/23/2008, -1/+19Without sounding like a name-dropping git, I know people who work with her on a daily basis - she is an arrogant piece of work, she really is.
A real shame that she's doing herself in though, I bet half her arrogance comes from the substances she abuses.- drgirlfriend, on 06/23/2008, -9/+4She's got good reason for arrogance. Look at how judgmental people are.
- m0nte, on 06/23/2008, -7/+4She is a crackhead its fair game. Wow she put the pipe down to do an album. Once a crackhead always a crackhead.
- VitriolAndAngst, on 06/23/2008, -5/+2I'm sure that is defensiveness.
- TheSkinsFactory, on 06/23/2008, -3/+4You're not the same person when you're on drugs. Think of it literally, as Jekyll and Hyde.
- hornback, on 06/23/2008, -0/+3I don't think you know what "literally" means.
- Millsee, on 06/24/2008, -0/+1Sorry, but for instance - I know her for throwing toast back in a chef's face because it was only cooked on one side, then she went off screaming in his face.
I think she brought on people's judgments herself.

- BBoyRisk, on 06/23/2008, -16/+11Why is she getting media attention? It should be Sharon Jones that should be in the musical spotlight, original singer with the Dap-Kings and far more talented. But she doesn't get the publicity because she is a 50-something year old black woman who is not marketable to this iPod generation. She would be a much better role model too. Music is supposed to be heard.
- DYMongoose, on 06/23/2008, -3/+2Why is this being dugg down?
- crackedlogic, on 06/23/2008, -0/+2this conspiracy must be taken to the press!
- drgirlfriend, on 06/23/2008, -0/+4A black lady singing like a black lady is nothing new. A little Jewish girl singing like a black lady, now that's something marketable!
- Fubarepublic, on 06/24/2008, -0/+0Jewish and Black? Now that would be something...
- quiggibub, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1It's not possible to care about every talented musician no one has heard of.
- BBoyRisk, on 06/23/2008, -0/+0"A black lady singing like a black lady is nothing new. A little Jewish girl singing like a black lady, now that's something marketable!"
- yes I understand that which is why I hate all this hype. IMHO Sharon Jones is a better singer has a better range. I could go also go on about the Jewish connection and there bing a conspiracy but people will see it as anti-semetic. Other white women (I don't know if they are Jewish) that should be recognised for singing like a black lady are Ria Currie and Alice Russell. How come they're not being marketed? Is it because they're not crackwhores?
"It's not possible to care about every talented musician no one has heard of."
- True but we should care about those that are more talented. Sharon Jones & Dap-Kings (along with Jimmy Cliff) are headlining Rise. This is a step in the right direction.
- BBoyRisk, on 06/23/2008, -0/+0"A black lady singing like a black lady is nothing new. A little Jewish girl singing like a black lady, now that's something marketable!"
